@@j.wa.1061 exactly!!!! And I’ve heard some people say that the bag check at vidcon wasnt great (this was in like 2018, so idk if they’ve gotten better since), but seriously!!! They could’ve hurt somebody!
It shouldn’t have been up to one panellist’s extra personal security staff to keep them safe. Thank goodness they were there, but he shouldn’t have needed to bring his own security.
@@marianamauricio Obv. it's a different type of security, but if the security group messed up this bad with a panel on the main stage, I wouldn't really trust the bag check either.
@@marianamauricio I've never been to vidcon but I've been to... at this point a few dozen conventions and know several who have been to vidcon- I do not think any convention is actually good at bag checks. At most it's a cursory look but more often than not they just point blank ask if you need anything peace tied.

The vidcon story is scary! I'm glad no one got hurt but it's scarier that the vidcon security did nothing and the responsibility fell to someone else's private security... I'm sorry that happened during your big panel but I hope the rest of vidcon was okay! The disneyland story is pretty cool haha. Thanks for the video!
I know the Green brothers have a lot on their plate but this lack of security should be addressed by them since the Vidcon brand is part of their image.

Challenge Idea:
I know you usually keep painting the walls until the end. So maybe you could do a challenge where painting the walls is the first thing you do (after building the shell/floorplan of course) and then you have to keep whatever walls you picked and try to furnish it accordingly. The extra challenge would be not to just chose white or blue for everything but basically trying out wallpapers you don't use that often.
I actually really appreciate that you left the right side of this duplex unfurnished! For one, like what you said, a lot of people (including me) like to furnish, but do not like to do exteriors and floorplans, and it feels weird to gut and refurnish other people’s builds. Also, it allows you to furnish the other side with only the packs you have, if you don’t have all the packs.
As soon as the pack was released I came back to this video cause I loved this shell

The only thing I'm thinking is: Dream has private security? Like does this kind of thing happen regularly with him?
i know hes had lots of physical threats and so have his family, and that hes been in contact with the fbi multiple times because of this so id guess having security is really important for him

@@YouKnowImOnMyPeriodYah hii!! just a small bit of knowledge i have! majority if not ALL the people that harrass dreams are people OUTSIDEof his community and not his fans! having been apart of the community actively in the past, I have seen first hand how terrible people that hate him can be to him his family and also fans! whether you like him or not its objectively very disgusting, nobody deserves that! I'm also very glad security was there! (sorry if this sounds mean definitely not my intention, its just a observation I thought would be important to share!)
At this point I kind of feel like whenever simsie says ‘i highly doubt we’ll ever get this’ that becomes real so I’m actually hoping for apartments sometime in the future.
If they can bring in horses this late, they should be able to make it so we can make our own legit apartments

@@NotJasonLvsDogs What kind of world though?? 👀 We've got islands, we've got mountains, we've got the "wild west", we've got sort of like a coastal and bay sorta areas.. got jungle.. being able to build hotels/motels and real apartments would be really nice but I dunno what they'd do world wise unless they made it a game pack. Lake area maybe? Or you could combine the Sulani and Granite Falls ideas and expand on them. Make like a fancy lake. Don't think it's a super popular movie but like Cheaper by the Dozen 2. Where basically it used to be a public lake and now it's pretty much all been bought up and now it's mostly private. Fancy yacht club sorta thing. Have a couple on the water/mostly in the water lots on the lake, have some woods, maybe the ability to like fish from a boat instead of just from the shore. Docks maybe. Have more lakey water activities. Basically kinda have it be like a bougie lake with a couple more fixer upper cabins that haven't been replaced yet that are still public rentals. Have the option to have a household that has multiple houses. Like a second or even third in addition to the one they live in that they can rent out if they choose to but it's mostly their own household that uses it. Have the ability to split the household and decide who's going to the lake house and maybe be able to invite people from other households. Like maybe the YA and teen wanna go out to the family lake house and invite their friends. I feel like if they were to add all that it could be EP worthy.
Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing, Manila etc type if cities would be nice. France Italy Spain Greece type of cities would be cool to see too.
@@xXPeaceForeverrXx There's CC by House of Harlix (can't remember if it's Felix or Harrie) but they've done French style stuff. A full Paris themed collection and working on a French chateau theme. I know they've done a Berlin, I think a London, some sort of Japanese (I think?) inspired one. They're all really cute. The chateau one, don't think that part is public yet, but it has built in bookshelves and they have book doors. All 3 heights, plus they're like properly built in so it's actually a hidden door and it's not blatantly obvious. They've got a bunch of cool collections

The fact that vidcon security didn't do anything is actually f-cked up. For your safety and everyone else's, maybe don't go back? That seems like a nightmare waiting to happen if they just let people do that with the state our country is in right now.
I agree. They should of done something not let dreams private security team remove the guy out. I hope they learned their lesson from that situation.
I thought the same thing. I would honestly never come back. I always remember Christina Grimmie and how she died because a monster had the chance to get close enough to shoot her. Having bad security in an event like this will eventually result in someone getting really badly hurt or even passing.
There are basements like that where I live, we call them walk out basements. Usually they're in the back of the house and the patio area connects in some way to the backyard. It happens a lot on houses built into hillsides.

that is so scary somemone got on stage and vidcon did nothing. I'm glad you and everyone are okay, but I would be so scared to go to vidcon or other events again if I were you.
I think, like dream, if you go to an event like that again you should have your own security as well. It is better to be safe than sorry. and maybe they can protect others like how dreams security protected all of you guys on the panel.
Attendees, even featured ones, shouldn’t need to bring their own security to the event, because that should be dealt with by the organisers.

It should be vidcons responsibility to take care of anyone who attends their event;, which is the whole point of someone big organizing an event like that in the first place. Otherwise you may as well host your own event if you’re gonna be in charge of security and everything. It’s a huge disappointment. Violation of their agreements with creators even.
I actually started watching you and your builds because of the I Dream of Streaming panel! Even though Dream's security had to be the one to ensure safety, the rest of the panel was still fun to watch and hear your takes on it!
When Simsie initially said “a guy in a shark costume” I thought it was Foolish, but then as the story went on I was like “nah that couldn’t have been him” to “oh god I’m glad that wasn’t him”

One of my favorite recent builds was a duplex. I initially only decorated the side I planned to live in, then I thought it wouldn't hurt to just mirror the bathroom, oh, but I should do the bedroom too, oh, and I could add a wall here to make a kids room, and Oops, I furnished the whole house
I really wish apartments in the sims 4 could work like in the sims 2 where it was a type of lot so you could make your own!!!
idea- what if you build a house but each room is a different gnome? there's so much variation, i think it'd be fun:)
you spoke about simmers who prefer decorating over building, and it would be really cool if you buildt a basegame house with a floorplan and windowplacement, but left the decorating and painting of the walls to us. then later you could tour our build's. sorta like the shell challenge but not really. love your vids kayla

This might be one of my favorite builds shes ever done! Normally im not one for pink but I love the building and overall aesthetic so much. I know Kayla doesnt like building modern places very much but this is gorgeous!

hi simsie! could you do a video on your tips for the sims on how to not get bored or storyline ideas you have? we all burn out a little and i’d love to know what you’d do!
She’s said before that playing on short lifespan helps keep things exciting. The chaos and urgency keep gameplay from getting boring. And something like not so berry that forces you to use aspects of decor and gameplay you might not typically use also helps.
i´m still salty about the balcony working in the beta testing of eco lifestyle, but not usable in the final product you could have had your juice fizz station or a bug farm on it...

Here in tornado country we call the "big hole in the ground" irl a "daylight window" and it lets a pretty shocking amount of light into the bedroom. I think you have to build it on the correct side of the house to maximize sunlight. There's usually a ladder (so you can escape a fire instead of getting trapped in the basement) and people will decorate them. My parents did a kitschy wildlife theme (think wooden cat playing a banjo) but my grandmother used hers like a tiny green house because they usually have a clear cover of them.
Edit: to mimic a real one in the Sims I use the small saucer light and size it down to make sure enough light comes through and then I put a glass roof over the top which is kind of tricky.
It's actually kind of concerning that vidcon's security did nothing about the shark man, they should have gotten to him before he got over the fence
I dont know why, but I love cozy homes. Im just never really into the modern stuff, but i do like this build you did. its cool your trying out different things. I'd love for you to add more of the "cheats" you see on shorts. I love the stuff people make out of debug and get really creative and seeing you teach me in the way you do, i would understand so much better! Love u simise

VidCon seems to have a really bad security problem, Ive heard a couple of UA-camr's mentioning this happening and nobody really does anything before its sometimes goes to far..
I hope you guy can like brig it up with VidCon, as it can be potentially dangerous or just plain uncomfortable. The Trash Taste Guys experienced this on a live show and was quite shaken even

What Kayla thinks is a mess I still think is a masterpiece I could never build.
That underground covered patio would be so good for a spellcaster or werewolf space or workout area! Maybe even an art studio or little garden.
hearing kayla say "a mature pink, like pink and grey" made me feel so validated because my favorite color is pink and my kitchen is pink and grey >:)

you have such a good attitude about it& im glad everyone ended up being okay with the vidcon story, but that could've been a LOT worse. i'm really disgusted.. if someone ON the panel is able to perceive someone posing a potential threat before they even got to the stage, where the hell were security?? what's the point of having them if you aren't safe
At all concerts I’ve attended that had double barriers between the audience and the stage, as well as all I’ve seen video of, security have always been on hand to make sure anyone who ends up between the barriers gets back on the right side of the first barrier immediately.
I would LOVE to see a pack similar to Apartment Life where you can build your own apartment buildings and maybe even be able to rent your own houses and become a landlord.

You being afraid when that guy got up on the stage is completely valid, i’m sorry that you experienced that. I wonder what kind of liability the vidcon convention has over the safety of their speakers if none of their own security stepped in, but regardless it’s an incredibly bad impression to leave on the content creators that they invite in the future

I find this whole "two houses, one lot" really funny. I'm not sure if this happens in other countries, but here in Argentina we have something called PH, short for Propiedad Horizontal (Horizontal Property). This are basically really old and huge houses that got divided and sold as sepate properties at some point. So if you rent there or simply buy and live there, you are right next to your neighbor as you would be in an apartment, but sometimes you have shared expenses, as the houses are not "together" but they share the land, so maybe the water line is the same and stuff like that. So, this concept isn't so weird!
PS: But I still wish we could make apartments like we used to un sims 2. :C

This build was absolutely adorable!! The pinks, limitless packs, you having fun with it, the shape being interesting and not another suburban... But the story was messed up 💀 I'd never go to a place with that much carelessness towards danger
I like builds like this for the same reason as keeping my family together yet technically "living on their own." And using MC Command Center I can expand the household size to do it. It works fairly well usually, although I do have a save file where the family got to 50 people and I don't want to raise the household size any further because I'm certain my PC couldn't handle many more sims. I used someone's fake apartment building originally and that helped for awhile as it had eight apartments so as the family grew and the original sims' kids aged to young adults they could move out, get married, have kids. I also like doing it that way because then my sims can take their items when they "move" since that's realistic. Once I got to where the eight apartments was no longer functioning I just added townhouses to the lot (they live on a 64x64 lot in Windenburg, but the fake apartment building was built on a smaller lot size so I had plenty of room to build the townhouses, although I'm not a great builder so they don't look as nice as the original). I've tried searching for good looking fake apartment buildings with more apartments to them, but haven't come across any (it's hard to search that, though) and have tried townhouses as a search option, too. So I definitely don't mind when some of them are empty because in my gameplay I'll eventually furnish them. I don't own all the packs either so sometimes when I download builds like this from the gallery I don't get everything anyways, but I still apreciate that simmers builds them, even if unfurnished, because I do I'm someone who is using them in their gameplay!

I just watched the video of shark guy. I can imagine it was scary, but putting all that aside and just imagining it without context.. goodness that was so awkward that it was funny. The fact that he was a shark, doing the worm and then being dragged off stage while flailing his arms and legs. The frick did I just watch, an episode of the Office? 😂😭

Love it. In old city's in Europe it's pretty common to have windows in the basement. In Dutch and French we call this basement Souterain.

i'd be more than happy if we had the possibility to build apartment complexes like in the sims 2 where you'd type in a cheat and place the apartment door as the front door for each apartment to separate them, it was so much fun!

And that they did a “debrief” of the situation afterwards, because even if the only thing that came out of it was that they all agreed that it was scary and shouldn’t have happened, that’s still validating.
Most of the creators up there seemed to have found it more funny (not in a condoning way obviously) so I’m guessing there was no real harm done. People are immature af though omfg
The shark guy is scary. I am thinking of Christina Grimmie situation. That was also a case that did go very bad at a public event. So that vidcon security didnt do anything and he was able to get onto the stage at all is terrifying! This genuinly needs to he addressed by the event!

If we can't have the whole building apartments since we technically already have them, then I would take like town homes or duplexes that are connected like in the sims 2 and not the skyscraper apartments.
I so wished they'd make sims an open world game. Several towns you can visit, functional bus stops that work like teletransportation but mock buses here and there, multiple families in a building, etc.
Townhouse is when there’s 3 or more houses sharing a wall, what you built is 2 separate “semi-detached” houses, it’s not a apartment or duplex as each house is owned, only the middle wall is shared to save space.

I did some digging and aparently the fish guy is from one of those dumb "comedy" channels. His buddies dared him to do it. But yeah, sounds like VidCon really needs to have better security. Guess it's good Dream seems to have his own security crew. Couldn't imagine how scary that had to have been in the moment.
On a note relating to the build- Nice! I know you're not super confident in more modern style buildings, but you always do a great job!

Something really similar happened to Trash Taste when they were touring the US, what the hell are these cons doing with such crappy and lax security? So scary, anything could happen. Glad you're ok and nothing happened.

This townhouse build literally came at the perfect time! I'm on the originally Red gen of your Not So Berry challenge, but I changed it to Pink. I didn't mean to but my Pink gen Sim is a twin, and I've grown really attached to both of them. I was literally just thinking to myself that a townhouse would be perfect for them so that I could keep both twins together!
(For anyone wondering, I swapped the colours for Red & Pink but kept all the rules. I didn't plan for twins but I ended up with a boy & a girl. I named the girl Rosemary for the pink name and the twin is Ro. Rosemary is pregnant with the Yellow gen rn!)
Little Ms Sam has a roommate mod that’s works great! You have to have the university pack. You can choose your roommates as well. You set their beds and can lock the doors like you said. They pay $500/week rent. They are NPCs and not played by you. Make sure you set the Roommate as part of the lot info thing so they come home on their own.
