Thank you for saving it! It’s truly sad to see these plants being neglected. Pfft- y’all need to chill in the replies- if you don’t agree then move on with your day my god is it that hard?
Yes. It breaks my heart how neglected they are after they arrive so healthy and gorgeous. Really bothers me. I saved three willow trees from Walmart. They were off in q pile of dying potted plants(sad too) and were at least 6' tall. I gave my neighbor 2 and I kept one and now, a year later they are so healthy and thriving. I hate neglect of living things, across the board.🤬🤬
I bought them, btw. They were in the refuse pile but when I said can I save them they said, yeah, and charged me 5 bucks each which, considering how lovely they would be some day, I paid. Walton family never balks at selling anything. Including from the refuse pile.
They should only be sold somewhere the employees get paid to care for these. These stores always got expired products on the shelf you can’t expect them to care for minimum wage.
Right?!? I head straight for the clearance racks, touch them, talk to them, and the one that tells me that needs the most saving is the one I take home and rescue. Unfortunately I don’t live in an area suitable for the ones I really want nor do I have the funds to rescue them all. Saving one plant at a time
money trees are found in somewhat more wetland type area, so you arent really supposed to let them dry out that much. for mine, i give it a good amount of water about once a week and mist it throughout since they love more humid and tropical environments
Yes!! You're totally right. It's sad how they sell them with a tag saying " just 1 ice cube a month". I thought it was absurd! Did a lot of research and oh my, my money tree is now 4ft tall!
@@danniemikeey579 Also I don’t understand why companies keep saying to water with ice cubes? Other than the fact that by the time it melts it’s not really cold anymore anyways, they don’t need freezing cold water and it’s not enough water? Lol
@@sidthompson9538 I think it’s to stop people from overwatering. Because it’s hard to overwater when it’s living off ice cubes. And it’s less text on a plant label to write “ice cube weekly” than something like “water when dry to ~2in or 50%”
It depends where you live. I am in a very humid place and even the most thirsty plants I can only water ones a week. I drowned a lot of plants before I realized the instructions where not for Humid places 🙈
I just rescued 2 beautiful money trees a few weeks ago-they fell off the truck. So of course I bought them and I nursed them back to health, not really knowing what I was doing bc I just started this journey and there are now baby leaves sprouting all over both of them!!! I’m so proud 🥹 🤩🙌🏽❤️ but thank you for giving me information bc I AM just starting out and learning as I go

And you’ve got me buying sickly plantS at Home Depot and Lowe’s just so I can save them! You always have great content and the comedy is definitely a plus!
SSSOOOO glad to see this video this week! I went to do my watering today, and I remembered this video so I took the time to check out the bottom of the money tree plant that I got two or more years ago at IKEA, and the poor thing had multiple rubber bands around the trunk just under the soil! I was shocked that the poor thing had been actively being strangled this whole time! Thank you for saving my money tree plant!
I've had my rescued money tree for a year now and never repotted her. Thanks for the instructions on how to properly complete the task and care for it. Love your videos ❤❤❤
I love takeing in damaged plants from my store, I've gotten a fig tree and a monstera, i also have plants from my step dads job i have a ming ariala and umbrella tree, they're all doing well! I got some plants from my moms church and they had a fungal infection and it spread to 3 of my little plants and killed them :( one of the little plants i had for like half a year it sucked but at least i have all my trees ^^ and the monstera

Are you suppose to take that off I just reported my money tree and I left it on is it suppose to come off and the string at the top? I'm a first time plant mom
My sister has her own little tiny money tree plant which she took care of for a while, she ended up not caring for it, placing it in direct sunlight outside and the plant dried. Just recently I started watching your videos and I got the motivation to keep the plant alive. Some more tips would definitely work better, but thank you for sharing what you can! :)
I'm gonna tell you a secret, Home Depot doesn't own most of the plants, we buy the plant from the nursery when you buy the plant from us, the nursery sends out reps everyday to rearrange the plants and they also choose ones to throw away so everyday stores like HD, Lowes, Walmart and any other big box store that has a garden section is throwing away cart loads of plants everyday

I rescued some plants this week :). I’m unless you awake and then I’m taking them out of soil and putting them into water because they will go to semi hydro. Thanks for having her. I love the excitement ❤❤
Thank you for showing how they Bind the roots of these please. In my plant groups, when people ask why my money trees dying.I always tell them to take either the tape or the rubber off the root balls and sure enough almost every time.
I bought one from Whole Foods with a rubber band around the base too!! Ever since I repotted him he’s been just putting out new leaves like CRAZY!!! Check on your money trees folks!!
THANK YIU! I also bought a money tree a couple months ago from cvs and can’t really get the right routine to make their life easier/better so this helps!
I have been a farmer for over 40 years, who grows all kind of plants. The one thing I hate about the social media plant enthusiasts is when they give you watering time tables. Especially when it all depends on the infividualʻs climate and location. Maybe if you qualify it with, this time table is based on my situation, for your location it will be different. where I live in Hawaiʻi, we tend to water more frequently because most lucky money plants dries out faster. If I waited one week after it dries out, my plant will already be shutting down and shocked.
I wish I repotted my money tree right away. I highly suggested for anyone getting a new one, mine had elastics around its roots as well which ended up killing the plant in the end
I got send a money tree as a welcoming gift when i moved to scotland. Repotted instantly and noticed the poor things had no root system, all that was left was some dark brown 2 cm long remnants of roots. Most likely has been overwatered. I have seperated them and i seem to have 5 healthy plants. they didnt like the south window, the leaves did turn lime green and some spots did start to turn into yellow, so i moved them to the north window and they seem to love it. Thank you for the watering advice. Even tho i did wait for them to be somewhat dry, i think i still overwatered them. I will now move to letting them dry out and then wait one more week before watering.
I love rescuing plants. I got a pepperomia from a clearance bin after the heatwave last year and it is THRIVING now. I also got a dead fern off of Facebook and now it's massive and healthy. Best feeling.
This video really helped my baby money tree grow! ❤he is HUGE for his second birthday but I actually decided to downsize his pot when I went to change his soil bc he had such a small root system. He’s happy with his tiny home 😂
Mine was a clearance plant that wasn’t doing so great, bought it, took it home & checked the roots as it started dropping leaves left and right.. there was electrical tape cutting off roots! Glad I’d checked. I took off the very tight twisty tie at the top, and just put a loose bit of my scrap macrame cord in a cute little bow. It got a slightly larger pot of new soil. It thanked me by putting out a bunch of new growth & my goodness the baby leaves are so cute!
OMG the rubber bands! That makes me realize so many plants I've bought from stores were probably doomed no matter what I did because I didn't take it out of the original pot!
Some of y’all out here doing too much. After taking off all the extra bullshit you should’ve just stuck it back in it’s original pot, the new pot is way to big for such a small root system. It looks better and a lot cuter but it’s going to be stupid easy to overwater it, even if you do what you said. bc there isn’t enough roots to drink the extra moisture and the air and drainage holes can only do so much. There’s a good chance that soils going to stay wet for too long even w it being well draining. Your method of waiting for it to dry out then waiting an extra week is great but if it takes a month to dry out the plant will rot before the month is up. I’m just saying if you notice it declining you might want to pop it back into a smaller pot so the soil can dry out faster.
Thank you for saving it! It’s truly sad to see these plants being neglected.

So cool! I love rescuing plants from places that don't get paid enough to care lol. My favorite is Lowes.
I still hate that they sometimes charge over $60-$100 bucks for some half dead plants. I always try for a little discount though.
With places like Lowe's you have to get a plant fresh off the truck or they will be half dead.
