SH1mmer is an exploit which is capable of completely un-enrolling a managed Chromebook within minutes. It was released on January 13th, 2023, and has been seen and used in countless other videos.
If you're wondering why I was gone for so long, it's because I don't like making videos anymore, that's about it.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8GB (16GB preferably) or larger USB Drive
- A personal computer to download & use SH1mmer on
- A Chromebook which is supported in both OS (v110 and lower) & Board

Re-Enroll Permanently:
You can still un-enroll, you'll just need to repeat using SH1mmer again:
1. Re-enable OS Verification
2. Powerwash the Chromebook
3. Go through the setup process, then after "Determining Configuration", click "Enterprise Enrollment"
4. Log into your school account, then after it's done enrolling, click "Done".

Try downgrading to v110 or v107! Download a recovery bin for your Chromebook model at chrome100.dev, then use that image in the Chromebook Recovery Utility.
- ChromeOS v111 to v113?
Try using this guide to use SH1mmer on those versions:

- I can't enable Developer Mode! How am I suppose to use this guide?
You're still able to enable it, it's just that booting into ChromeOS is blocked. You won't need to boot into ChromeOS in order to boot into SH1mmer however, you simply enable developer mode and then enter the recovery screen, THEN you put in your SH1mmer USB and proceed.

@Cat-pq3kc I got the right E halcyon usb, and combined with sh1mmer, it loads correctly up. Apart from that, I haven't figured out to enter e mode, thus making the chromebook repair itself and booting up the default os
pre watched video before starting, seems promising. I Have two chrome books I'm going to try this on, will be back with an update shortly. wish me luck!

I cannot login to my chromebook at all because i bought it at a thrift store, it has forced enrolment enabled and developer mode cannot be enabled by administrator policy. how can I find the board name of my chromebook? as far as i can tell there is no way to access my web browser without logging in first

Hello can I get s RMA shim or bypass RMA, it's keeps preventing the shimmer menu from starting up.
@verizonsupport1661 dl.darkn.bio ARE RMA shims, you have to inject SH1mmer into them through using the builder, then use THOSE injected shims, as explained in the video

you only need to do that to use SH1mmer on v111-v113. if you're on v112 or higher you could just use fog.gay btw

I found a way to downgrade from any current version by repeatedly recovering (but around 50 seconds into the "System Is Recovering" screen pull the USB out, if this doesn't work try again, but if it worked you should be on a "Chrome OS is missing or damaged" screen, which you can then install any version of Chrome OS. I only tested this on Chrome OS version 115, 119 and 120.

you can go to any version between v112 and v120, but if you try to go below v111 or v112 then it'll fail, no matter what lol
it's firmware based, there aren't any workarounds other than booting into a lower version (E-Halcyon)

yes, the unenrollment is permanent and you can re-enroll at any time (though i recommend disabling write protection first!)
also yes, it is safe to update to the latest version of CrOS after unenrolling, just know if you re-enroll and wanna unenroll in the future, i really recommend disabling write protection (WP) beforehand.

I have checked WP with flashrom -wp-status and WP is disabled. Since this is a second hand device re-enrolment is not needed. I updated device an all is working good :)

you can only downgrade IF you're on v111 or lower, if you're on v112 or higher you can't downgrade
@@Darkn got a hold of 3 Lenovo C330 Chromebooks, and discovered they're enterprise enrolled. Think they have the v112.0. with the "Kana" board. Thank you 🤓 a kind of hobby I have is I look in dumpsters and curbside stuff for electronics - PCs laptops Chromebooks gaming systems or tablets... Have several Chromebooks!! 😁🤣😂 The c/b can be used but in " use as Guest".

Hey dude I get brought up to a RMA challenge when I try to run sh1mmer ik that im on the ver sh1mmer does not work past for unenrollment 112 but im trying to use defogger to revert to 107 and I meet a rma LOCK and tbh I have no idea how to bypass it just hoping you have some knowledge on it
i don't know what an RMA lock is, sorry. it's something i've never heard of till this point
It's pretty simple, you flashed the raw shim instead of the injected shim, you aren't the first person to make this mistake and you won't be the last

I wanted say, if I downgrade my version of Chromebook and put that like yours, the unenrolling will work?
if you're on v112 or higher, your chances of downgrading is very unlikely
many chromebooks that have been updated to v112 or higher has been affected by something known as "The Fog"
this "Fog" prevents users from downgrading to v111 or lower.
there are still a small amount of Chromebooks that can downgrade to v111, and by all means you can try downgrading and see if it works for yoruself (answer 1)
but if you can't downgrade, you can try using E-Halycon instead: fog.gay (answer 2)
@@Darkn I tried to downgrade by putting the same version like yours, it worked, but I again tried to unenroll by using Sh1mmer for download the files and boot, it doesn't work for me, if I plug in the USB containing the file shimmer on the Chromebook, this one doesn't work ! Chromebook says that the USB doesn't contain the file
1. make sure you have developer mode enabled (it doesn't matter if it's blocked or not)
2. make sure you're using the right model for your chromebook when you downloaded the sh1m, please follow the video instructions as "OCTOPUS" is not everyones chromebook

I'm using windows.
VM means "Virtual Machine", so you can use tools/programs such as VirtualBox or VMware to install a Linux VM

I got into sh1mmer on my chromebook but when i do Un-enroll Device it says "there was an error the utility likley did not work. please return to continue" and i tried followed the video and it wants me to ener the enrollment again when i try to keep going anyone know how to fix this?
try downgrading your ChromeOS version to a version such as 110 or 107, make sure you aren't using 111 or newer either by the way.
if your Chromebook has been on 112 or newer you can't downgrade either jsyk

Can I do this on 120? I tried this so many times and it doesn’t show the sh1mmer screen, it shows a black and white menu and none of the options say unenroll 😢😢😢

1. use the builder and make an injected shim, then use that injected shim instead of the raw shim
2. use a recovery bin at cros.tech or chrome100.dev and restore your chromebook
hey, do you know how to find the coral binary? theyve removed all the prebuilt binaries from the sh1mmer site, and it instructs you to make your own without any instructions.

I don't and it doesn't seem to be a supported board at this current point of time.
I'm stuck in this prompt called "CrOS Factory Shim" after plugging the USB in, it keeps asking for an RMA Challenge with a QR code in the center, the link leads to the chromeos website but everytime i try to get in the website it fails to verify permissions so i cant do the challenge its asking me to do
now the chromebook wont turn off and is stuck trying to get the authorization code
nvm found a way back just had to go back to recovery mode
you're using the RAW RMA shim, you have to inject it.
i did everything and when i click un-enroll it has an error. ive tried downgrading my os but whenever i try i get an error and it dosent downgrade from 116

116 won't work
116 is affected by "The Fog" and can't downgrade below 111
116 will need to use fog.gay but that has limitations such as not being able to boot if the USB drive is not plugged in

powerwash the Chromebook then press ALT + V on the "Welcome to your Chromebook" screen, then your version appears in the top right

if it's still enrolled and you connect it to Wi-Fi, it'll probably track the last connected IP, but i can't be entirely sure because i've never seen what the admin panel looks like from an administrator's end

you have to extract the .zip, as told in the instructions of both Wax4Web and in the video, then select the .bin

you can still try making a SH1mmer USB but it'd be more difficult since you can't go to chrome://version to find your board name, you'll have to look at the model number or whatever at the bottom of your chromebook and then search from there. after that, as long as your board is compatible, try making a SH1mmer USB, then boot into that, and try un-enrolling. if it fails, then not sure what else you want me to do

if it's an enrolled computer then yes it does matter as you need to have a school account from that district it was enrolled to in order to log in

After listening to you, I ran to a friend, took his laptop, deleted Windows there and installed Endeavour OS. Next, to use Halcyon, I downloaded vboot-utils and did everything as described in the manual. But the 'E' mode didn't work.. I just did this successfully on my lenovo 300e 2nd gen. I want to install windows on it but Im not sure how well windows runs on a chromebook? I checked the support and it seems to work with it. I own this chromebook but I bought it from the school itself which is why it has enrollment on it. Im free to do this as Im not borrowing it, I own it.

p.s: no, running that won't actually unenroll you if you're on v111 or higher, it's just necessary for booting into Halcyon

if it asks for an authorization code it's because you aren't using the injected_shim.bin as explained in the video

if it's still saying that for you then that means you did NOT put in the right one lmao.
please take the shim that you downloaded, and put it through the sh1mmer web builder as shown in the video.
after the sh1mmer web builder is finished, it will downloaded a file called "injected_shim.bin", take that file and use that instead for the recovery utility. do not use the shim that you just downloaded instead.
this is explained in the video, please watch it properly

Telling me "The device you inserted does not contain Chrome OS"
1. Enable Developer Mode, it doesn't matter if it's blocked or not, just enable it and then enter the recovery media screen again and plug in your USB again
2. Make sure that you're using the right shim for YOUR board. Not every board is OCTOPUS, so please don't just download the one I used.

it was fixed by Google months ago but most people don't really update their chromebooks or schools don't regulate updates, so most people are on 111 or lower (if you're on 111 you can downgrade to 110 or lower)
I did everything and it says the device you entered does not contain chrome os
this tutorial doesnt work no more, google updated chrome os to block this and some other exploits like downgradiing people were using
