Thank you for documenting the capabilities of this turbo. One good thing to add is that this isn’t a hybrid fellas which “generally” means better reliability.
APR parts are generally pretty good. For me the sweet spot is still the pmax simply due to its response for a street or autox car. This is not a bad option but as you saw custom tuning makes a big difference in the outcome.
Another great comparison. That 6054 looks to be the next logical step if the Pmax 1 isn’t quite enough for you. There is something rather familiar with the comparison S3’s dyno plot. 😀 I can’t wait to see what you’ve come up with for the LPFP upgrade. Anything is better than the kit I installed. Ha.
@@JordieG8 Show me a turbo on this platform that hasn't had any failures. Oh right, there aren't. You either get one that works or you don't. Plenty of failed Pmax's and DTR's out there. None are any more reliable than the next.

Hello I want to know I want to know which one is bigger, Garrett or APR? My car is Audi S3 8V Hardware APR INTERCOOLER APR EVO4 intake 89-76 200cell downpipe APR EXHAUST APR LPFP APR HPFP I want 400-450WHP Which turbo is the best choose.

Thank you thank you thank you for showing a comparison to the pmax. Alot of people scratch their head why i went with the pmax and one, your video on it sealed the deal and two, i autcross the car once a month and low-end response was KEY as autocross is usually wot in 2nd gear. Do you do remote tuning? I think i see my future with an mpi/lpfp and a custom tune by you
It’s not especially on a GTI and a bigger turbo where the injectors are smaller than an R and turbo flows well up top. Also it keeps those intake valves nice and clean and gives you better control of the LPFP since the kit comes with a pressure sensor for the low side.
Has anyone ever swapped an MQB model engine into a non MQB Passat? I am kinda pissed off that you can't do basically anything to Passats because all of the tunes and most of the hardware are for MQB cars.
S3 has a better flowing head and more aggressive exhaust cam no? Also, why would what happens from 0-4500 rpm even matter. During competitive driving, what matters most should be from 4500- redline no? As a previous va Wrx owner and knowing that we all avoided that g22. I’d rather vortex over the pmax myself. That g22 is basically a hybrid va Wrx turbo 🤮
I can assure you the pmax on the ea888 behaves very differently than on a WRX and has a power potential of an additional 80whp vs what a WRX would make. Also the reason response matters especially for street cars is because we are most often in a situation when we want to build boost vs shifting from a high rpm back into boost such as when on track on a straightaway. Finally we are working on offering a turbo with some more top end than the pmax while maintaining as much response as possible.
@@stratifiedautoany chance you’d offer an off the shelf dtr6054 tune for those of us that would want a dp? The Apr tune doesn’t like it when the dtr spools a little quicker (due to the gesi cat) Thnx for the reply!
