I have this exact amp. Hooked up to 2 10"kickers ,in sealed box no ports..I'm telling y'all non believers these amps are on another level. Definitely recommend not to much but no slug

Great vid bud. I'm doing research on doing paste on old amps to make sure they don't over heat. The amps work fine but have just been sitting in a garage for 20 years. I have 2 ppi a200 a friend is willing to give me for nothing so I would like to try and pull the boards and replace the thermal paste to insure they work for a while. Any thoughts on how long you think the factory paste lasts?
when you got a burn pcb try cleaning it with some alchool ( in romania we call it "izopropilic" ) it take the burn marks away, and after the soldering i clean the board again with alchool because it looks almost like brand new
When replacing the chopper mosfets with alternative types I would also take into consideration its / their on resistance not just the gate turn on voltage as the on resistance determines the current through the switching transformer and hence power rail voltages.
Hello from Mexico my friend, I have a Rockford fosgate 800.2 power amplifier with almost the same failure as you show in this video, I reviewed the supply voltage for high (+50V, -50V) and also the regulator voltage in this case (+20, -20) they are OK, also I measured the signal from drivers and I got a similar signal like you, but when I install the MOSFET (original number) this works only for a minute and then MOSFETS goes to dead also power resistors (0.1 Ohm). Please let me know some recommendations to repair my power amp. Thank you very much in advance!
@@Broxine Hello Broxine, No, not yet, I still have failure but I left this case pending. I starting to doubt about Mosfet I don't know if they are originals, I live in Mexico and many dealers re-labeling spare parts. Incredible!

I’ve got a Rockford 4600 that blew an output FET. I pulled the two FETs and poking around I discovered that the main rail +caps are at 18V , probably about right as the caps are 25v rated. The - rail is at -27V. Any ideas where to look? Can’t find any bad components. I even replaced the TL494 and LM339M chips, no change.
How does one identify which driver transitor to use? I've got two blown ones on my T3000.1 both with the code 2GM7 on them. But when I look up that code it gives me nothing. Also what's your thoughts on the 75344G mosfet that came in these? Thanks brotha, love your videos

hey buddy, that sucks, wrong bass remote can cause a lot of problems, i would try changing all the opamps on the input, they might be 072c or 074c, or something similar.

Lol! Yeah, but they are work horse power houses. I have the 50.2 with the high/lowpass switch as a small board you pull out the bottom and turn it around to switch between high/low.
I still have my 200.2 in this series from way back. Used it to run my mids & highs. Ran both the left & right channels in parallel. Amp barely even got warm. Love old school Rockford!!!

Awesome videos. So happy that I found your channel. One question are you able to scope probe with just one connection as I don't see a negative scope clip anywhere?
Great Idea.. did not see your power supply I guess. I usually have my power supply hooked as floating so I can probe any two points. But yes your right I could do that so I don't have to fine a place for the ground clip. Just put the bridge plate to earth ground on my power supply.... Awesome thanks for the tip and a big thumbs up to you, your channel and the super fast response. 😁🤗😁
Older class D with no negative feedback circuit sounded bad, but any decent modern class-d should be audibly transparent (up to about 10khz, then you get a bit of distortion, but any harmonics of 10k are at least 20 and thus inaudible).
Hahaha, everyone is America is like “yea 1/4” drive like literally everything.... well made in America”. This corona quarantine has me catching up on any videos I missed.

The downfall to this bad ass amps are the power terminals! The wire guage size they made for way too small. They over heat the amp. Melt the plastic on terminals. I ruined two amps cuz of the terminals being too small to fit bigger guage wire
Well the MOSFETs used are OK for regular A/B class, but in this case may not be optimal for D-class car amp use. And of course people abuse them constantly. For some reason I was never a Rockford fan, and this amp is not special. I agree, but I believe it depends on the type of music you listen to, and you also need to consider the mental fatigue that you get during listening.
Have you seen the Class D amps by Mark Levinson? Bout $55,000 a pair.
@@dennycote6339 I have not seen It,but I always remain of the idea that,a class D does not reproduce music, but acoustic pressure.
