This amp didnt have an issue with the output section, but a shorted rail cap made for quite a bit of fault finding! As it is never usually the cap that dies!
Hello, my name is Daniel and I'm new to this. Channel and I'm new to repairing car audio amplifiers. I bought a Hertz hdp4 amplifier to repair. Hopefully by seeing ur videos I can repair my amplifier. Thank u for ur amazing videos. Good day . :)
Thanks my friend for the tutorials, I learned a lot. Congratulations for your work and success. I forgot to tell you keep uploading more videos. Greetings from Peru, your friend Wilber.
Hello there,, i have an easier, more industrial way to finding out shorts, you find your shorted power rails, and you feed them with a current-limited & voltage-limited power supply, for 3 or 4 minutes to wait for all of the components to heat up, then with a thermal Camera look for red spots on the board, if you don't have a thermal camera you can also use a compressed-Air can, and just turn it upside to spray the liquid on top of the board as to freeze it, for this you have to turn your power supply-current down like 1/3 of wha you use with the thermal camera, after you spray it all over the board, you will see first how the shorted spots unfreeze first, mark them all and don't give it too much thermal stress. Cheers!
Hi barevids just stumbled across your vids and although I am a beginner I’ve learnt so much. Many thanks. Question please I have a jvc u -3mr midi system with low sound on both channels when vol set at max. Not the speakers nor the internal three fuses, any suggestions please?
I’ve got a “cheap” 2 channel stereo amp that’s an A/B plus it is CEA rated. It goes into protect as soon as i turn the key on. That’s with no speakers attached. I bought this second hand for only $20 while retail would cost just over $100. I have a D class monk amp that’s made by the same company and it’s a gem of a cheap amp so I would like to get this one working if possible.
I run one of these amps as a 2.1 on my desktop, powered by and old computer PSU, I have it rigged it so the computer turns on both the amp and the PSU at staggered intervals the caps can charge and so that they turn on and off with the computer.
Those pull down resistors, do they need to be in tact on the motherboard to turn on? I have 2 blown in between mosfets where 2 zener diodes came de soldered.
If you don't mind me asking I have a 500.1 mtx thunder rated for 500 at 2 ohms and it has the exact same board as the Massive nano rated for 800 at 1ohm how do they have the same board and rated for different ohm loads
Hey I was adding a new amp and I accidentally wired it backwards.. And it caused a sepperate amp to get stuck in protection mode... Can anyone help me figure out how to troubleshoot the issue or fix it
Hi.hope you are well. A simple but challenging thing happened to me. When the amplifier is cold, the protection light turns on and when it is hot, the green light turns on, all the small transistors are replaced and the capacitors are also replaced, but I don't know the problem.
Hey their I have a digital designs car amp I believe it’s two ds on the logo it’s a 500.1 it says designs made in usa 2 ohm minimum it’s just making scratchy sounds on high pass I pulled the back off and turned it on. A resistor I thought lit up extremely bright green inside the amp not an led I’m baffled what is going on????
I've one cheap 4 channel blaupunkt amplifier(model ema 455) and its 4 power supply mosfets hav been completely burnt and I'm unable identify them, their model numbers, value or anything. Please help me out
This is the second time I have viewed your channel and both times you turned what I think is a frequency generator which is usually quiet. So why is your's so noisy if it is a frequency generator. I like your channel looking forward. Cheers!
If from the amp, it's transformer whine and nothing to worry about. If it annoys you, take the back off and wiggle the transformers around and it will stop.
Since you have limited knowledge of cap failure modes, AND they are fairly cheap, RECAP THE AMP. I don't want to hear the whining of the "don't replace it until it fails" crew. Wait till you've paid your dues (e.g., blown a priceless transformer or such idiocy).
Channels like this are why I value youtube. You are a friggin master
I love watching the "Amp Surgeon" go to work!😎 This is oddly mentally very satisfying 😳💯🙌

Well, that escalated quickly. Good video!

Chrls5 good way to crack something
Louis Rosmann use isopanol on the board.

Output transistor(s) will be shorted ☺
I seldom work on anything younger than 30 years old so it is always an electrolytic cap. I usually recap before I even power anything up! LOL

Got one that im working on that powers on fine after a couple of secs starts smoking from i think they are called fets
imagine an amplifier which was just one powerful transistor :) probably cost the same amount.

So I'm curious, will JVC amps do rated power and are they decent amps
Yes and yes

B Carr that’s his high current power supply your hearing
So would you say JVC is decent amplifier?
Hello where can i get an ossilliscope like yours to buy.
I have had 2 jvc amps with bad rail caps out 4 I own
With 5v/1-3a on the output on the diode, finding the short should be easier and faster.
But nice repair and fault finding anyway!
hey one channel of my amp is not working where to start the testing
So 2hat caused that did reverse power polarity cause it?
Are you in London? My Lanzar needs looking at.. gone into protect mode.
I'm up north so it will need posting. Message me on my barevids facebook page and we'll get it sorted.
