I Moved. All of My Tanks Update

- Thank you everyone so much for the supportive words in the community tab. It helped me immensely. You have no idea.
As you might know, I was locked out from youtube studio b/c I moved. The system wanted me to “verify” that it was me, so I did the phone verification 2 times, email verification 2 times, USB key verification 2 times. The next thing on the list was to “move my entire channel to a new channel.” Seriously!? That’s gotta be the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. Then later the system disabled my account. I had to recover my account 2 times. And then everything went back to LOOP and wanted me to “verify” again! That’s when I decided to reach out to customer service.
Anyway, it seems everything’s back to the way it was.

The move was ok for the most part. But some didn’t make it.
Igloo tank: it’s done cycling. I’m pretty confident that I can put fish in it now. I put bait shop shrimp in there just to see what would happen, and they are doing great. I might shoot some videos on them. They are hilarious. I’m only keeping them for a while and I’m gonna take them back to the bait shop later when I add the fish.
Loomster’s tank: A lot of the pearl grass got uprooted during the move. Loomster seem to be OK. The substrate did move a little bit, and I’m a little concerned about the all the “stuff” that might’ve gotten released from it. I did do a big water change. I did lose a few shrimp after the move. I’m keeping an eye on it.
Kartoffel’s tank: I reset the tank b/c there was an uncontrollable algae bloom. I always kept up with water changes, but the balance broke a while back and I’ve been playing catch up with this tank. Kartoffel’s fin rot comes and goes. He is eating and behaving normally.
The volcano tank: I moved lots of the monte carlo from the volcano before moving the tank. Some monte carlo had slime algae build up, so I had to remove it and clean it. I put the monte carlo back after cleaning it. It seems to be doing ok. All the Amanos died. They must’ve climbed out. Actually, lots of shrimp die in this tank. What happens is that lots of them climb the volcano, and when they fall off, they fall on the lid and some die on the lid and some fall to the ground. This tank is a death trap for the shrimp. Before I added a betta, this tank did not have a lid, so the shrimp that climbed the volcano just fell back into the water. I’ve been contemplating on this issue for a while, and maybe I might install a mesh or something around the volcano so that the shrimp can’t climb it. I’m too worried that the betta would jump out, so removing the lid is not an option. In the video, you can actually see a few dried up shrimp on the lid. When I moved, I found lots of shrimp on the floor behind the table. Fun fact: I built this volcano tank table. Other really ugly looking tables, I paid someone to do it, and it came out really ugly, haha. The igloo tank’s base and the oscar/flowerhorn tank’s base was built by a different professional.
Oscar/flowerhorn tank: It’s getting there. I’m thinking I’ll put water in it in a week or so.
Curry: I’ve been playing with her for 20 minutes or more each day for possible depression from the move. It’s hilarious. I might make a video how I play with her.
Interestingly, this new place has the same flooring as the old place.
The background for the oscar/flowerhorn tank was provided free by Back to Nature. This video is not a proper showing of the backgrounds. I’ll make a separate video where I setup the tank and show the background. It took so long to receive them, so I sort of changed my mind and I might use them outside the tank.

So glad you sorted out the account issues and moved safely. I loved the part you caught Kartoffel by hand. Traditionally that's how people caught wild bettas lol

He doesn't even have a net. That there is a scoop. Nets have holes in them.
True... I honestly prefer to move my betta by hand anyway, since he's very friendly.
Betta should be move by scoop like that, to prevent any dmg for their fancy tail and fin

Sadly over the past few months, things have started to fall apart, she says she cannot promise that she would be able to marry me, and that she's scared. I put my foot down last week and told her that she will sooner or later have to take a leap of faith, it was a whole argument, she said things she didn't mean and I just didn't say anything at all and here I am thinking that if she doesn't want to do it, I can't do anything about it. I wished things were different.

Curry's so happy! I'm glad that you didn't have to move to a whole new account, that would be rough.. I second "Dulce" for that bright and sweet betta, it's a fitting name! I have a hmpk betta with the same coloration as yours. Sadly, he passed on last week. Thankfully he managed to mate before and produced about 100+ frys and am caring for them now. They're about 2 months old now and are starting to show colours. Anyway, enjoy your new place and looking forward to future projects.

I watch all of these videos in awe of the care and dedication you give to your tanks. It inspired me to start a planted tank of my own, and a friend of mine gave me her red betta fish named Rowdy that was just living in a plastic tank. I have never had very much money to invest into the plants, so I only had a few large ones and a few clumps of grass. Recently Rowdy passed away. I don't know what happened. He seemed fine, then just a little sluggish and resting in weird corners of the tank, like on top of the heaters suction cups. Then I found him passed away on the bottom of the tank. I still can't watch these videos without crying. I miss him. He never got the tank he deserved.
Since the previous betta in the tank was Dante, I feel this one should be named Virgil.

I'm sad that many shrimp died in the Volcano tank, seeing them climb up is cool. That's my favourite tank of all. I hope that you will be able to find a good solution.

Seeing all your work on your tanks and the care you have for your fish makes me so happy. I stopped caring for fish after my betta fish died a few years ago but i recently bought a new tank, decorated the heck out of it, added live plants/bulbs, bought treats and got a new betta fish. Hes adorable and he swims up to me when i walk by and he like to jump when i check on him

I've been curious as to how to move tanks since I got my own (inspired by your incredibly peaceful/wholesome videos). Thank you for this video. Understandably, some will die. Sorry you are depressed. I am, too. It's very hard being an outgoing person during a pandemic. Your videos bring all of us joy.
I've always loved seeing these videos, it's inspired me to plant my own beta tank! (I've normally only used the plastic decor which I have hated) but just a couple of questions, maybe the fish community can help! Blue-green algae have taken over most if not all of my tank at the moment, so I've been keeping up with the minimal light (so I don't kill the plants) and water changes... but I wanted to do a bigger water change and let the tank recover and acclimate (kind of like starting all over again) but I have an unruly beta to catch. To keep from stressing him out, I usually give up so I don't end up hurting him. Any tips? Thanks!
Do few blackout days and make sure your filteration is okay. Also make sure that there are no un eaten food left. Excessive nutrients maybe the reason 😇.
You can also just get a ton of shrimp. They clean things up well. I had a similar algae issue and just waited it out. Shrimp population bloomed in the algae because of abundance of food, and then went back down to normal as it disappeared. Things work out.
I'd say that you try doing water changes more often than usual.
Also, hornwort and other fast-growing plants can help a lot with excessive nutrients. I'm not sure if it was coincidence or what, but ever since I introduced hornwort in my tank I've never had issues with algae.

You are the reason I have 20 gallon planted tank that I love and moved during the midst of the pandemic in June along with my two kids, two cats, hubby and an entire house worth of stuff. You can name that betta Nori. Because it looks like Nemo and Dory at the same time and Nori means seaweed. l think this name can be cute 🥰

How old are your tanks? My Walstad tank, also inspired by Foo, was built in February this year.

Everything's looking good! This channel is what inspired me to try growing my own aquarium plants after my cat passed away in August. I now have a 10g cherry shrimp tank with lots of living plants for them to play in. Always such a joy to see Curry too. Glad to see they're getting spoiled!
