When working in Northern Ireland (year 2000) I was contemplating where to take my wife on our 25th wedding anniversary when this song came on the radio which gave me an the idea, then when I got home out shopping I passed the travel agents and spotted "Stay and Cruise Barbados" so it was no contest, went in and booked it, stay 3 days in Sam Lords Castle, a week cruise up to San Juan, Puerto Rico then back to Barbados via various islands spending a day in each. Then another 4 days at Sam Lords Castle, all inclusive. What a holiday, will have to go back someday, loved it. This song brings back so many memories.
Gosh I remember this in summer '75. WIth my Adidas Samba trainers, Cricket all day on the BBC, my Bullworker and trucking up to my mate's house in my flares
I wonder why this outwardly cheerful and likeable song always makes me deeply melancholic? And always has, since I first heard it, agreed six when it came out.
Please refrain from smoking until the aircraft is airborne 😂😂those were the days 😂😂
As a council kid from north London we never did get away as far as Barbados,, But we did have fun singing this on the ferry to the isle of white.
