I’m am hearing disabled, you speak clearly, loudly enough for me to understand! I love there is no back ground music! Extremely understandable! Thanks so much!
I've recently begun my mosaic journey finally, after many years of it being sort of in the back of my mind. My first real experience with mosaics, I was a kid walking in Rio, and looking down at the stoned walkways in Ipanema. They made wave-like patterns that I loved. The next time I came across this art, was when i visited Disney World in FL, at the Cinderella's castle. They have mosaics inside on the walls that were breathtaking. Fast forward over 30 years and here I am, finally taking the plunge. Never too late for a hobby. I'm glad I found your channel, it's been SO helpful. Thank you!
Hi LA! How exciting that you're new to mosaic making! Welcome! There's lots to learn here on my channel and you can always suggest a topic for me to cover in a future video. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Talk about good luck! I used to do mosaic of both kinds about two decades ago. I took up growing vegetables when I moved and stopped. A few weeks ago I decided, "I have all those supplies so maybe...". I even have a separate building in the lot. Been cleaning it for the last two weeks. Tiling the mantel of the fireplace, lets just say, involved a lot of guess work after two decades. This video showed up by chance this morning around 4 in the morning. I will definitely watch part one. My huge collection of dusty tiles and glass thank you. Nice video.
Making stained glass panels for years has given me lots of small glass pieces which leads me to mosaics. Thanks for the clear instructions to help me start a new art!
Hi Glasslight! Your scrap glass is PERFECT for making mosaic art. Great to hear you got some value from the video and are ready to tackle a new art form. LOVE IT! Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Beginner here.... I grabbed my eye brow tweezer for adding small beads and moving around, haha and saw you're using dental tools! Now I feel ok using my tweezer :)
Hi Lori! YES, great! Use what you have first. I also like to use old tweezers when I want my hands closer to the mosaic. And like you mentioned, they're perfect for working with smaller items like beads. Keep creating! I'm glad you're here.
Hi Judy! Ohhhh, tweezers are a GREAT tool in mosaic making! One of my faves too! 🙌 Thanks for the video idea. It's on the list! Any particular shapes or you'd just like to see the process? I'm glad you're here! Keep creating!
Hi Margaret! Welcome to the world of mosaic...make yourself comfortable! Great to hear you're enjoying my videos. Let me know if there's anything in particular you'd like to see here on my channel. Keep creating (and learning!) and I'm so glad you're here!🙌

I've recently discovered you, as I am getting back into mosaics after being overseas for eleven years and forgetting so much that I need to almost reintroduce myself to every process and material. You are organized, you speak well, you get right to the point. Thanks so much for being the excellent teacher you are.
Hi Paul! Welcome back! Wow, thanks for your kind words! I really appreciate the feedback and support. 🔥 Great to hear the video was helpful. Get to creating (again!) and I'm glad you're here!

Hi newbie Kathleen! Thanks for your kind words. I'm glad you're enjoying my videos. The running pliers are plastic, although I have a few other pairs which are metal with a ribber tip. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
hi Julie. Love your videos!! Have you ever done one using a dremil, and carving lines in flowers to accentuate them. I have heard of it being done with a ring saw, i believe. As i dont have one, i was wondering if you could use a dremil with diamond tip. Thanks
Hi Dale! Thank you for your kind words and support. It's GREAT to hear you're enjoying my videos. I haven't seen a mosaic like that but it sounds very interesting. What material is the tesserae that would allow you to carve lines? Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
@@JulieWeilbacher Hi Julie. From the picture it looks like the tesserae is regular 3 ml stained glass made into flowers and the lines are etched into the glass and then the etched area is filled in with dark grout. Susan (Dale Ritter)
I ordered the Fletcher running pliers and they came with no instructions as to what the four extra pieces are for, how to put them on or use them. Can you explain please???
Hi Tara! Weldbond will work fine because your mesh mosaic will eventually be installed in your shower using the appropriate adhesive. You're using Weldbond to lightly adhere your tesserae to the mesh...so you don't need to use a lot of it. The final adhesive during installation will come through the mesh openings and 'grab' or hold onto your tesserae. Hope that makes sense. Sounds like a fun project! Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Julie, I am an illustrator. I have been commissioned by an interior architect to do a large scale mosaic based on one of my giant watercolors, for a commercial kitchen. I have no experience doing mosaic art. What is the best tile (porcelain, ceramic, or glass) to use in a kitchen, one that would resist the heat and humidity of cooking? Thank you for any infornation!
Hi Meryl! That sounds like a fun project. All of the materials you mentioned would work in a kitchen environment. I would use a fortified cement-based adhesive and grout to go along with whatever materials you choose. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Hi Kenny S! Check out this video (ua-cam.com/video/bYgTozW4RbU/v-deo.html) which will show you some helpful techniques and tools when working with glass on glass (stained glass). And this video (ua-cam.com/video/7HBruK2E8mo/v-deo.html) will show you how to use another tool to cut the stained glass into specific shapes and sizes. Super helpful! Keep creating and I'm glad you're here!🔥
Hi Julie. Do you think using the glass cutters in combination with the running pliers would work on breaking various flower pots (glass, ceramic, terracotta etc)? I’m looking to create flower arrangements with broken pots but only small portions cut off the pot, like a corner of a pot but want some control over how the pot breaks. Some people just use a hammer but Thats too risky for me. Thanks!
Hi M. A.! I would use compound tile nippers to break the pot down initially. Then you can make finer cuts using wheeled glass nippers (for glass), and tile nippers (for ceramic and some thinner terracotta). Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
great video thank you. you didnt show how to adhere piece you made on the mesh to your final substrae wedi board paver etc. i am guessing just put adhesive between mesh and surface.
Hi Robin! Great to hear you enjoyed the video! Check out this video here (ua-cam.com/video/JYE1Vt-FFGA/v-deo.html) where I adhere a meshed piece to the final substrate. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Hi Yasiarchitect! Welcome to the world of mosaic! You can pour the water down the sink, bath tub, shower, or outside. It's just glass. There's no cement in the water. Keep creating and I'm glad you're here!🔥
