- Wheeled glass nippers are an invaluable tool for mosaic making. They also cut more than glass! In this video Julie Weilbacher discusses the features of the wheeled glass nippers, how to use nippers, materials they can cut, maintenance of nippers, and some basic and specialty cuts. Another great video! The wheel nippers are definitely my favorite. I would love to see a video on using tile nippers. I have a much harder time using them.

Will these cut winckelmans? Im finding compound nippers to big for my hands to shape & the seabell wheeled are glass only.
I used your link and can see the nippers, but I don't see a price or a way to put them in my cart to buy them. I've been looking for a good quality set. Cheap tools are a long-term exercise in frustration.

Julie I bought 2 different wheeled nippers regular and compression for heavier work but the compression ones hardly open at all so it’s really difficult to get the glass or stone in to cut. Is there a way to open the distance between the wheels ?
Hi Lynn, it sounds like you need to adjust the thickness lock. You should see this on the backside of the nippers. Use a screw driver to loosen the screw (your nippers may have come with one!), adjust the blade opening where you want it, and then tighten the screw. Hope that helps!
im having trouble cutting straight lines with nippers after i cut with the glass cutter it always looks wavy
Hi Debbie! A smaller tessera has a greater chance of cutting straight. What tesserae are you working with? It takes practice....and even then, there's always a chance of a wavy line. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥

My problem is with stained glass and mirror. If I have a big sheet of stained glass and want to cut in small strips. … my strips always crack before it gets to the end
Also when I nip mirror with nippers I can never get it to look straight… hence the little waves on edge. I guess it is a practice thing. I’m new to mosaic but love it. Keep up your videos. I love the bloopers too😆
Julie my wheeled cutter won’t open hardly at all , is there a trick to opening them?
Hi Lynn, there should be a pin up towards the head/wheels of your nippers which can be removed. That will open up the jaw and allow you to cut bigger tessera. They install the pin initially to keep the handles closer together to make it easier to hold & squeeze. Keep creating and I'm glad you're here!
Wait. You can adjust how far apart the wheels are?? How do you do that?
Hi Summer! Yes, many versions of wheeled glass nippers can be adjusted. If your's is one that can, there would be a small bar or clip in the area where both handles meet (under the wheels). You can adjust the bar or remove it all together. For instance mine aren't adjustable but open to 1/2" wide. Keep creating and I'm glad you're here!🙌

Julie...I'm new to your site. Just bought wheeled nippers and the wheels turn when i move my finger over them, is that normal? I tried tightening them with the Alan wrench it came with that didn't work.
Hi Loren! Take the wheels off completely and start over. Hopefully the factory just put them on wonky. They shouldn't move. What brand are they? Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
@@JulieWeilbacher I found better ones at Home Depot and took back the pair from Harbor Freight...thank you for clarifying that the wheels should Not move.plus I also bought the compound nippers at Home Depot love how easily they cut.
