Icon cured my fear, I always hated the feeling in your stomach and I decided that because of the launch it would go far faster, and it worked! I felt like I was flying for most of the ride and I loved it and I’ll be going back on it in July :)
Glad you overcame your fear! I absolutely love Icon and hope you enjoy your next visit!
Same icon is a legendary ride and I live south of London so I am very happy I got the chance to wang to Blackpool
@@not_lewis2649 ahhh i’m the opposite end of the uk, glasgow here :) also update, i went on it 8 times in july 😂
Bro the Icon cured me literally yesterday!
@@AD0de it’s so good!! i hope valhalla’s opened for next year, that’s the only reason i’ll be going back to blackpool anytime soon sadly :(
I remember having a huge fear of rollercoasters until I rode The Big One. On the drive there I kept telling myself to ride it and just do it. When I got to ride it, it was terrifying. The scariest part though was the lift hill. I just couldn’t look ahead. 😂😂 But after the first drop, I fell in love with it and enjoyed it so much! From that day on, I discovered my passion for rollercoasters and theme parks, especially Blackpool Pleasure Beach. I’d never really heard of other parks because BPB has always been my home park. It’s amazing how much rollercoasters can change you! I used to not even be able to ride Blue Flyer but now I can ride some of the worlds best rollercoasters like ICON without even giving it a second thought.
My one piece of advice is just do it! There’s nothing to lose because otherwise you’ll regret it.
Amazing video! Your content is always great to watch! My favourite video being the future of BPB! :)
Thank you for your kind words! Big One is truly a rite of passage coaster and fun after the first ride, I am glad it was the coaster that made you fall in love with theme parks!
My fear is loss of control. I know I’m safe but it’s the whole “letting yourself go” and letting something else control your movement. Once the restraints go on I panic a little. I’m this way on planes and other forms of travel as well. I just need to suck it up and do it! Lol
I can totally understand that, i think the best way to tackle it is pretend you’re in a safe car or something, because then it feels like you’re not being thrashed around and instead feel more in control with a sense of direction. But just doing it works great too 😂! Good luck!
@@CoasterBuddy thank you! We are going to Disney/universal in November and I’m forcing myself to go on the scary rides. I’m tired of being the chicken holding everyone’s stuff 😂
@@Talkingdaisy-no6nu So proud of you, show them who’s boss 😂, thanks for watching and glad I could help!
After i went on Icon as my first coaster i realised why most people work their way up. On the first launch, i got so terrified (because id never been on anything like it) that i looked down the entire ride in fear. Since then ive been to scared to go on big rides until next year when i go again. ill try to go on it again.
Icon as a first coaster is a big step! It’s worth trying it again for sure, it’s a really great coaster once you get used to it, but if you feel too nervous, I started out with blue flyer and grand national, that might help. Thanks for watching!
What a fantastic video, thank you for sharing, going towers on sat and this really helped 👍
Thanks for the kind words! Hope you enjoy your trip. 👍
This is the most informative video on the topic I have seen! I am not actually afraid of the rides, I love them all to bits and I watched this to make sure the information was useful and accurate and I can confirm it is! Well done :)
Thank you so much!
It helps massively to eat in the right way in order to have a good stomach feeling. If I didn't eat well at all (too little usually) the rollercoasters would be such a bad feeling on my stomach, reasons why I didn't go much on coasts with tall/vertical drops. Yesterday I went to a themepark and ate differently, much more like my actual routine and eating along the way (Always thought an empty stomach would be a much better feeling, but it's quite the opposite), and basically felt nothing but pleasure and fun even on large drops. Too bad most parks here don't go much taller than 40m but I'm glad to know I could ride every single one of them without any discomfort (other than headaches with some specific coasters, even SLC's don't hurt me) and loads of pleasure.
TLDR; eat normally, make sure you stuff up well because that helped me massively overcome my fear of that nasty stomach feeling, oh and also learn to enjoy every single drop and hill, that adrenaline rush feels amazing.
That’s some really great advice! When using your method it’s quite easy to eventually eradicate the belly feeling almost entirely, which is why I find coasters so fun, thanks for watching! Greatly appreciated.
I'm going to definitely try this! For me it's so easy to not eat and drink enough at theme parks because I just don't get hungry due to the excitement and I'd rather be going on rides than sitting down for a meal but I know it's not great so I'll make sure to try this!!
I went to alton towers last year and I was terrified when I saw the smiller and I was scared to go on it but when I went on it it was amazing I just fight my fear by just going on it
Best way to get over your fear! Glad you got to experience such a great coaster!
The scariest part of a roller coaster is knowing ur next
When I first started riding roller coasters, the hardest part was always going into the queue, but it always made me feel better seeing people smiling as they came off the ride. Thanks for watching! 👍
@@CoasterBuddythanks for the tip I'll try to keep my head away from the drop, oh wait.. the station at my home park is extremely close to the drop plus it's wooden...
Jk 😅 I rode that thing a lot and it was amazing, I'm still anxious and I only have 1 credit currently... but I'm going to sfgam next year and seeing a hyper is gonna be surreal, im gonna be extremely nervous, but good tip to keep my eyes off the ride itself, thanks 👍
@@CatsAreKindaCool no worries, wooden coasters are really cool and I’m glad you enjoyed it, one credit is always a good place to start so I hope you have a good time trying new coasters even if they are a bit nerve wracking at first. 👍
@@CoasterBuddy thanks:)
My main fear of coasters is the fastness I went on blue flyer at blackpool pleasure beach but I still think that was kinda fast but if I ever go back I’ll go back on it then get used to it then try the bigger coasters.
That’s a great way to do it! Keep building up it’s totally worth it. 👍🏻
Thanks! I’m going to Blackpool pleasure beach, so I’ll try Icon
I hope you enjoy your visit and have a good time on icon! 👍
For me it's the fear of not having control over how fast you go or what you do that gets me. I've never been on a roller coaster and hated the experience but I'm at a point where I need to step up a little and the fear of not knowing what it's going to feel like stops me from going on anything new. I'm going to blackpool pleasure beach next year and I'm gonna try my absolute best to go on icon and face my first inversion!
I hope you have a brilliant time, it’s such a good idea to just give it a go, if you trust the flow of the ride it becomes a lot better, even though it’s odd not having control over yourself. Thanks for watching 👍
Flamingo Land helped me, I mean that place has Mumbo Jumbo which was a ride that even as a kid I thought didn't look too intense - I thought it was just like a Wild Mouse ride, of course it was way more intense having hangtime and the steepest drop ever (at some point) but still I fell in love with that ride, same for Velocity! A few years later I got to go back to Flamingo Land and I got the courage to try Kumali (which was awesome) and Hero, something I came to regret...
😅 Hero needs to come with a warning! Flamingo land is great for trying out all kinds of unique coasters, Mumbo Jumbo is so fun. Thanks for watching!
@@CoasterBuddy
Certainly does! I'm shocked they've not removed it yet, nobody in vlogs ever say they enjoy it! No problem 😀
I don’t have a fear but I’m watching it
That’s great to hear! Glad you enjoy roller coasters 👍
Galactica was the ride that cured my fear
That is a good one, really fun and a unique coaster!
The reason i have a fear of rollercoasters is because me and my 5 friends rode the cyclone after a choir competition and we all died. bur we got brought back to life!!
Hahaha! I love that musical, thanks for watching 👍
I am only 9 and I went on Nemesis I am looking forward to going on The Big One or Oblivion.
That’s awesome! Nemesis is a great coaster and I hope you get to enjoy the others. 👍🏻
@JustTalking Thanks :)
I dont have one i just want to watch this
Hope you enjoyed the video!
I'm going to blackpool again in a month, I went a few weeks ago and I just went on nickelodeon streak and the big dipper, they were bad enough let alone any of the others lol Are the ones like Icon and The big one a lot worse than the big dipper because that was terrifying😂😭
Hope you enjoy your next visit! Icon and the big one are really fun rides, certainly a step up from Big Dipper but I really recommend you give them a try, they are great for building confidence and a good experience!
i hate lift hills but i don’t wanna miss out on a whole ride just bc of that
I’d recommend thinking about the views from the lift hill rather than the height, I have friends who overcame their fear of the big one after I promised the, a good view of the tower and before they knew it the ride was over! But there is no shame in avoiding certain rides, only do it if you enjoy it, hope this helps, thanks for watching 👍
I don’t have a fear of rollercoasters I’m just watching (:
Thanks for watching! It’s great that you enjoy roller coasters, what is your favourite?
@@CoasterBuddytbf I don’t know what my favourite is 😅
@@Smiler123HAHAHA haha! It’s a really difficult choice, for me it’s definitely icon, and nemesis in close second, they never miss! 😊
@@CoasterBuddy oh cool nice opinion
I only hate the drop and loops
They can be really hard to get over, often times it’s best to just keep trying them until you get used to it but I promise there’s no shame in not enjoying the bigger coasters, it’s all about enjoying yourself! Thanks for watching 👍
I only hate the drop
I’m fear to icon and big one
Those are two very good roller coasters, a good way to stop being scared is by giving it a go. Thanks for watching! 👍
for me its blackouts and greyouts
Some of my friends have passed out on roller coasters, breathing deeply and keeping their head back has helped a lot, but it’s all about building up! Good luck 👍
all these odds but not for the right things, what about overloading g-forces, heart attack on a ride?
I forgot to mention that but thankfully it is incredibly rare that if you are healthy to experience this tragic event. Thanks for picking up on it
Odds are, if you have a heart condition that can be triggered by a rollercoaster then your cardiologist has already given you safety tips and pamphlets accordingly. It won't be a surprise.
@@awesometwitchy Exactly, even then if you'd get a heart attack (which you won't) you can be helped in no time and have a very high chance of survival, much higher than at home.
Wtf im the 2000 veiwer and the 50 person to like🇧🇻
That is so satisfying and such a coincidence!
@@CoasterBuddy yeah
