When you put pressure to snap the tile, don't put pressure on the middle of the tile, do it towards the end of the tile. If you're doing long cuts, putting pressure in the middle will break the tile in 4 pieces... if you put pressure on one end instead, you'll get it right. Learned the hard way this weekend...

How would you then round the cut after you had nipped it-with a file or sand paper to fit it around say a faucet?

Can the slide cutter be used on porcelain tile too?

My QEP cutter won’t cut a straight line in larger tiles. I learned this the hard way after wasting a few porcelain 330mm squares. Rotating the tile a couple degrees seems the make the cut a little more straight but there is still a noticeable dip toward the middle. My guess is the rails are not installed straight.

it doesn't even have to be cut perfectly because it's just grouted
