Doc Harley is a really sincere guy. What I like about him is that he's always willing spend a little time to refer the customer to a specialist supplier when the need arises. If he can't help you, he won't hinder you. A man of good virtues.
Way to Go Guys, Kevin we've never met, but back in the 2000s i was a Service Writer and then Shop Dispatcher and Warranty Manager at Low Country HD, i was there for the Move from the old building to the one you were in, and i worked at Phil's North Myrtle beach store for the Rallies as acting service manager, in 07 i left to become a fulltime service manager for a dealer in western mass, due to some health issues i'm now retired, but unlike you and Mike (DOC) i was never a Tech, i was and became a manager cause i was good with hours and money, so i always looked to guys like you two for advice when my technical knowledge was lacking , Now Retired i am a huge Fan of BOTH of your You Tube Channels and it's GREAT to see you together, and it's cool to see you at a dealership i helped build literally the 2 bikes spinning around in the Silo a former Low Country Service manager Jeff and i Built from spare parts in the warehouse, so it's fun for me to see the old dealership and 2 of my favorite you tubers at it........Great Video
I remember seeing Willie G on the side of the road in Northern California in the 1970's. He was watching the bikes and getting ideas from rally attendees. Good show!
Now Baxter is amazing wish we had him in ever shop!!! Meticulous and demands spot on performance!! Harley needs him in development making these damn machines be reliable and meet specs!!!! Wish I could get my bike rebuilt by him!! Great respect
Well done Gents! I'm a humble little motorcycle repair shop owner and I truly appreciate both of you for doing this! I often look you both up for guidance (almost weekly), HUGE help! Look forward to seeing more of the duo! Thanks a million from Grand Ledge, MI. Brian Hosey Centennial Cycle Repair LLC
My two favorite go-to guys for accurate, detailed info that helps me keep my own Harleys running! Kevin is the mechanic I wish I was but strive hard to be. He makes jobs that are way over my head look so easy! Doc is also good although usually sticks with the MoCo line. I rarely am seen at a Dealership once the break in service is done. Around here at last, the service departments have totally priced themselves out of earning my business. If it's something I can learn to do myself, I do it myself. I do have an independent shop that I've used for years but the owner passed away a few years ago (on his way to Sturgis). His kiddo took over the biz and is an ok tech but not the mechanic his Dad was. Finding a shop that you trust with your life is not always so easy.
Came here from Doc Harley,,,,this is my comment to him........This is great, As a 35 year Automotive parts dealer veteran I have always kept a good working relationship with the independents, they buy parts from me, I feed them info it's a business relationship that works and sometimes flows over into a personal friendship. I'll go check out Kevin's channel now as I have apparently been living under a rock
Doc - you were a great help to me when I lived in the Beaufort area, it was always a beautiful ride up Hwy 17 to your shop. Kevin, thanks for sharing your knowledge. The two of you make a great team. I look forward to the upcoming videos.
I got almost 20 years in the business. I totally get it! Spent the first 6 years of my career in a dealer getting my master of technology when I was 25. Spent the next 8 years in am aftermarket shop that did lots of motor work and Dyno tuning ect. It was a different world! I have been back at a dealer for a number of years now. Definitely lots to learn from both sides!
I watch each one of your channels. Never dreamed you would get together and talk like you are here. it is fantastic to see you guys talking and your perspectives from different point of view. It’s great to see you guys together.
Can't wait for new episodes. Man you guys are great. Thank you both for your knowledge and insight. From one motorcycle enthusiasts who lives and breathes motorcycles please please keep up the great work!
Thanks Guys for anything regarding Harley Davidson . I Grew up so poor ,I had to build my first Bicycle from scraps One Thing i know when The desire to have something ,You wild build it if you want it That Bad , Middle of nowhere ,Hillclimbing on what you Brung ,old BMW Husky Hodaka , a Ducati 250 ,I fixed Them ,We laughed at an old neighbor who kept a couple Harleys ,nucks or Pans ,until one Day he let me ride a knuckle He started it I Rode it on a Dirt Roar I might have weighed 90 Lb. But i was so excited that i turned it around and Came back without a Problem . I was Ruined ,I am getting old and I have an evo ,and a Twin Cam 2011 Flstf FatBoy 5,000 Miles .But I also keep a shovel at my sons House Because Potato Potato ,I can not Help Myself ?I will not ever get an 8 ,Because I am addicted to the Sound . You Guys Have much knowledge I. In 1963 i used to keep my Distributor hand tight ,so i could turn the timing down ,Not knowing That to get that potato idle i was not oiling anything , But i know More than i did ? The Good is i wallowed in self pity , Having to build my toys,End of Story in 1970 ,I got Hired in a factory and For 34 Years i worked on German & Italian Machines all Metric ,But I made more money than 90% of ny Friends who went to college ,they went to college I went to The Army ,But all that self Pity led to a Being a Senior Fabrication Technician all The training free . That is America .God Bless .
Great video guys you are both respected in the Harley world , I watch both of you and learn so much keep making more videos, it's great to hear both sides of the spectrum
From a guy up north (Ontario, Canada) that follows both of your UA-cam channels I must say the both of you are a very Class Act and the real deal. I have a great relationship with my HD Dealer but also rely heavily on my local Indy when wrenching/building my rides. Keep up the great work. P.s. you both have provided exceptional support (via your videos) during my wrenching. Life is good 👍🏻
Great video guys!"………………One of my biggest regrets is not owning a Harley until I was 57. I now run two, a 05 Softail Deluxe and a 2012 Dyna Switchback. For me, Harley is bigger than just the bike, you turn up on other bikes but you ‘arrive’ on a Harley, they get under your skin. I still have two BM’s but they always take back seat to the Harleys. My biggest disappointment at the moment is Harleys inability to supply simple spares. I’m currently, still waiting for an IAC valve for the Dyna which has been on back order since mid August and still no confirmed delivery date.
Wow ! I AM IMPRESSED !!! This I never would have ever guessed would have happened ! Maybe Mark Burnett gives you two your own “ show “ on the History Channel ! I’d love to get into a convo with the both of you on some of my old bikes that I used to own and of course ask some specific tech questions about my new 2018 FXLR Low Rider I bought brand new . Great job “ complementing “ each other with your professionalism and expertise ! Peace
This collaboration was only a matter of time! great stuff guys. Touching on a topic you mentioned about going to your dealer for first service etc.... Not all dealers are the same! Not a lot of quality work in the NYC area.
great idea and great video guys. very much enjoyed seeing you both at the same time LOL!!! Thank you both and looking forward to many, many more videos.
This was a GREAT video.... seeing 2 of the best sharing with one another about the differences of a Indy and Dealer. I've met Doc a couple of times and have "picked his brain" several times about making my wife's trike better for her and a issue I was having with my 2010 FLHTK.... he has been super and helpful each time. I look forward to meeting Kevin one day and seeing the curved bike If the Good Lord willing.... ;-) God Bless you both!!!
Best of both worlds! Great to watch and listen. I’m watching each of you on your UA-cam channel for years. When you love to ride your Harley-Davidson and you want ‘further’ on it.(standard or putting out the highest power)
Really well done video with great info. But while I love the Diablo, it's hardly a "fully custom bike" without many things that should be on it. One easy example is something simple like LED lighting all the way around. On another point made by Kevin. He stated the owner should maintain some relationship with the dealer when buying a new bike. From my perspective, it IS the dealership that should go out of their way to maintain that relationship by garnering trust and inspiring some confidence with not only the Service Department, but the whole dealership!!
Thank you both for all you do for the bike community, Two of the best on UA-cam and I would be willing to bet as quality individuals in person as well Makes so much sense you two working together, how fortunate we are as viewers Look forward to more of your years of experience and knowledge Thanks again
Doc Harley is a really sincere guy. What I like about him is that he's always willing spend a little time to refer the customer to a specialist supplier when the need arises. If he can't help you, he won't hinder you. A man of good virtues.
