Yeah you can tell he isn't exaggerating when he talks about how much he learned on set because clearly he was soaking it all in. It's amazing how much he remembers 20 years later.
Fascinating seeing Amy Adam’s in Smallville, then coming back as Lois Lane. I had completely forgotten that she was on this show and was pleasantly surprised seeing her in the show.
The fact that Tom mentions the song at the end of this episode is awesome since Iiterately every episode consists of great songs which have survived on my playlist for 20 years!!!

This episode holds a special place in my heart. Had a former Sped student with an eating disorder find the courage to ask for help after watching this episode. One of the many reasons I am forever grateful for Smallville and you both🙏🏻❤️❤️. Thank you so much for this continued labor of love. Best part of my day. ❤️
Yup..the last scene with Kristin and Tom...watching a cartoon on the barn, and Enrique singing hero...made the episode great and memorable on so many levels...It really set the tone of the whole series.
I admit, I was kind of skeptical when Michael Rosenbaum announced he and Tom were doing a Smallville podcast. But I was wrong and this is giving me a chance to relive watching all these episodes back when they first ran. All the BTS stuff and special guests from the show are great and I look forward to each week when a new episode drops.
The thing I love about Amy Adams' character in this episode is she never actually becomes evil like the rest of the "monsters of the week". She only does what she needs to do to survive. Amy Adams is fantastic in this episode and it's one of my favorites!!!
How awesome is it that both Amy Adams and Joe Morton both end up as Lois Lane and Cyborg's father in the DCU movies. It's like they were destined to be a part of this world indefinitely.
This episode was a hard one for me to watch again as I've struggled with an eating disorder since I was a teenager, but I thought Amy did an amazing job playing the role. Michael, I don't know what's causing your anxiety, but I just wanted to say you are phenomenal as Lex Luthor, and your performance only gets better as the show progresses. You truly have nothing to be anxious about. 💜
I watched it for the first time just last week and while I already got a handle on starving myself, it still can be a struggle some days. Too bad I didn't see this episode 20 years ago as a kid because it aired exactly when I was getting into the worst part of the battle. And I agree about Lex - for me he stole the show ❤
We appreciate you Tom and Michael! I think Tom is realistic about what is "a hard task". I've heard him refer to the firefighters in his area. Seems like grounded guy.
I never realized how many 2000's TV shows Amy Adams was on obviously Smallville but she was on The Office, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, The West Wing, That 70's Show, Charmed and King of the Hill.
The best part about watching older shows is a lot of times the ppl you suddenly recognize that didn't stand out back then. Of course the best is realizing that someone did standout back then and now are famous.
Oh I remember her on Charmed she was playing the woman who was cursed with bad luck and Prue accidentally transferred that bad luck from her to herself.

So excited we will be getting some Talk Ville merch soon! I would love to see a Pete shirt that says, 'Damn.. who's that..." (at the discovery of a dead body from the X-Ray ep. 💀😆
I love that Hamilton mentions his theory about how the meteor rock effects people on the cellular level, which explains how some of the "freaky stuff" can happen. To answer the question why doesn't everyone in Smallville have something wrong, it's kind. Of like medicines. Some people had adverse effects or allergic reactions to a specific medication where maybe the overwhelming majority is unaffected. Great show. I am reliving my childhood and my favorite show.
So I'm new to Smallville. I actually hadn't seen a single episode until the 1st week of this podcast. Since then, I'm already on season 8 right now. I am hooked & I love it!!
For me, really interesting part was Annette's reactions while she listens to Clark and Lana. Another note, Clark always apologises when he hears people's meteor shower story. They always reply with 'Not your fault', but there is always a small bit where we see Clark weary with guilt, quietly disagreeing.
Hourglass and craving are two of my favorite episodes of the first season. Whats great about this episode is of course Amy Adams and how sweet her character is. You see her transform physically which causes her to do things she doesn't want to do like eating road kill. You feel bad for her because shes trying to lose weight for this party and she goes to these desperate measures but how is accidental. She doesn't know why it's happening and she can't control it, which is something I haven't felt for other characters on smallville.
@@ninjanibba4259 not trying to speak for them but I assumed that they meant they felt for her more than the other freaks of the week since those characters were usually psychopaths and creeps.
What honestly annoys me is when people say Smalllville is a terrible Superman show, if your only looking for a Superman story yeah it’ll disappoint you this is specifically about Clark Kent and his journey into being the character of hope. It’s about Clark and his past and his relationships which is a really great story and show. I love smalllville
strange, writing and his portrayal was embodiment, essence what Superman is. Inspiration, hope, person helping others without ill intent or wanting something in return. If i was in his place i would definitely use those powers to help myself first, and definitely would use them to cash in all those talents 😁 and most definitely would hurt at least a bit some people that deserves it, would not be a "boy scout" and look at everything as black and white as many of them said to him. :)
I remember this 'freak of the week' being the first one I was truly sympathetic with. She has no control and she was trying so hard. Great podcast as always and great conversations. Keep it up! ❤
The fire in the fight scene at the end was caused by sparks from a broken overhead light. The explosion was likely due to ammonium nitrate that is used in a lot of fertilizers, which would likely be in a greenhouse.
I've loved Tom (as a celebrity/entertainer, nothing more haha) from the moment i laid eyes on him in Smallville. They couldn't have chosen a more perfect actor for the role. The fact that he remembers every little detail & every interaction between the actors (even knowing the workings of scenes he wasn't a part of) & scenes is awesomely commendable. Him being easy on the eyes is an added bonus! Lol 🥰😍🥰
Do you think Michael and Tom realize doing only 1 episode a week will take 4 years to complete the entire series? Hats off to that dedication but considering they already gave 7-10 years to this show is mind boggling.
I hope they just do a fan pic list later on where fans vote on the next weeks episode ti watch and they just do they rather than spend 10 years. I doubt they can do 10 years of this.
Personally, I would be happy if this podcast lasts through all the seasons, no matter how long it takes. it would be awesome. Also, they had mentioned that they were filming more than one podcast episode, at a time, so for them it may not take as long to film the podcast :)
I actually liked how quickly Clark put everything together with Chloe. It made Clark and Chloe’s friendship seem close than before by showcasing that they are really good at bouncing ideas back and forth. I also thought it seemed like a cool nod to how Clark would be a reporter in the future, and the shirt thing was a nod to having to change into Superman before going to save someone (in this case Pete and Jodi). Now I know it was completely unintentional but I thought it worked 😂
X Files had a very successful show based around it. Though it may fail in others, it can be a device that introduces cool moments, great guest stars, and more mystery to the world.
i disagree, lesser villains its fine, but seasons should move towards big ending with big villain. Smallville mostly completely failed at that, because they finished with Superman biggest villains too quickly.
This podcast takes me back to when I’d look forward to watching smallville every week. The show ended in my senior year of high school so I really grew up with it. It’s so great to be able to re capture that same feeling all these years later 😁
remember balling my eyes out in that fanally, all those trials that he faced an swatch him grow up and not just to become superman but confident as a human being and in his relationships. So amazing. Smallville is a true coming of age story that nobody gives enough credit to
Great to see a young Amy Adams killing it in this role! The mouth special effects were awesome then and even now to watch back. Thanks for answering my question too 😊
Seems like Tom was extremely busy. He was focused! The man just became a lead on a hit show and was learning the ropes. He really was putting in work and it shows. I'm really happy he's also able to come back and have detailed memories, there's no bad blood either with cast, which is rare! Seems he needed sometime bc no one wants to talk about their job they did for tens years as soon as they leave. He's on a season of Lucifer and does an amazing job!
I would guess Lex's official reason for having Lana's party at his house would be due to his professional relationship with her aunt. His hidden reason though is either to put in a good word for Clark or possibly himself (although at this point in the show it would be weird)
Yeah I can't remember if they say that explicitly but the Aunt Nell connection seems to make sense. I think they said the age gap between Lana and Lex was 6 years in the pilot, so if she's 15 then he'd be 21. So I'd use a stronger word than "weird" if he was interested :D But I don't think he sees her that way (yet).
In the end I believe Lex is playing all the angles for any potential future win. Hot chick on the back burner who's also popular and can therefore be used for school marketing and then her aunt's gratitude is such an easy win with this simple act.
@NolanEP I believe it was brought out in a later season that he was about nine during the meteor shower. Lana and Clark were about three at that time, which means Lex is around six years their senior and around 21/22 years old.
Absolutely loving this Podcast! Smallville was a huge part of my life and I discovered it when I really needed something positive in my life! Thank you for this, look forward to every episode!
Yeah i love the inside talk with Tom and Michael and how they see Smallville and what they remember and felt during the shooting. And sorry Tom looks like Metropolis and Henry was more her Superman 😅
First it was IoU w/ Rosie on Tuesday's... now Rosie AND Welling on Wednesday's, too?!! Seriously, I look forward to both of these podcasts so much every week. Thank you SO MUCH to you both for doing this and to Ryan and everyone that helps behind the scenes! This means the absolute world to so many of us! 😊
Really enjoyed this episode. I think it was a great example of Michael's portryal of Lex especially the scenes with Lana where the dialogue is supportive of Clark but the demeanor suggests there's another motive. Absolutely brilliant 👍
Definitely "Craving" episode felt like a horror storyline. Of course you feel sorry for Amy Adam's character and what she goes through in this episode.
As an actor in a former life I appreciate how honest and funny you guys are about your performance moments over the years. It’s extraordinarily refreshing to see after all these years. I relate to hearing the ups & downs of being on a huge show like this for so long!
Little bit of trivia, Lana’s porch and bedroom window was the back of the Kent house, they painted the other side blue to make it look like a different house. Great show guys! Cheers 🍻
I can’t wait until season 5. I hope this becomes lucrative enough that they start doing this more than once a week so I don’t have to wait until 2025 lol
Intense is exactly the word. Joe Morton is a beast of an actor, he has so many incredible scenes in the tv show Scandal. James Spader in The Blacklist and Joe Morton in Scandal, these two guys have the best monologues in of all the series I have ever seen. Amy is amazing, I am only at the beginning of this podcast but I like it already :)
Joe Morton also played Silas Stone, Cyborg (Victor Stone)'s father, in the Justice League movie and has a really great voice over speach to his son through a recorded message in the Snyder Cut. I love the pod. I grew up with and love the show. Friends or The Office are a lot of peoples' comfort shows (white noise, sleep aid, etc.) Smallville is my all-time comfort show. Thanks for coming together for this. I look forward to every Wednesday, excited to see and hear you guys. Peace.
Amy Adams!! 💙 She did a great job with the role. I felt so sorry for her character😓. And I love how all of the special effects still hold up....never look at green juice in the same way though 😵💫👀
Man, am I only the one listening to the podcast (commuting to work) and then WATCHING it on UA-cam as well? I’m doubling up every week and I’m here for it.
I heard a criticism of this episode from screen rant saying they stopped watching after it because it was fat phobic, makes me think im glad it was aired when it was. I love this podcast btw so cool to see you guys together and talking about this series, i remember watching weekly waiting each week for a new episode
Cravings gets 2 roses from me. Fantastic hearing their thoughts on I can be your hero. I always felt cheesy for liking those Clana moments every episode. Great episode guys! Amy Adams and also Dr. Hamilton is different version of the Star Labs Dr. Emil Hamilton that helps Superman and the actor not only from Terminator 2 but also plays Cyborgs father Silas Stone! I truly believe Zack Snyder loves Smallville! He even includes Whitney as a character
I enjoy the freak of the week episodes. Sometimes the Superman storyline is boring because we know the outcome. But the freak of the week stuff was interesting and entertaining.
My favorite scene is also the last scene of the episode with Clana in the car watching a cartoon while "Hero" by Enrique Iglesias is playing. Like Tom said it was a perfect and sweet moment. It always put a big smile on my face, definetely one of the sweetest things Clark ever did on the show it was a sweet and meanigful gift for Lana.
Before I listen to this , Tom had mentioned this last week about how 1 out of 4 episodes are the gems of the series because of production cost.... and I'm really grateful that he mentioned that. I'm similar to Michael Rosenbaum in the sense that I critique everything, even the things that I love. Smallvile was part of my childhood, and though I love it so much, I can see its 'flaws" and feel frustration. That is why I appreciate the perspective of both of you guys give because of how balanced it is. Michael expresses how a person might feel if they pick this series up randomly, and Tom explains the behind the scene portion. It really makes me appreciate the production more. In a time where we have netflix, instant gratification, and binge watching, we take for granted how things are produced. We--- I am overly critical. I never understood why fillers were a thing when it came to older series. I never understood why not all episodes were treated the same when it came to its value. We strive for (immediate) perfection in everything we see now, and we take out points when it doesn't live up to that expectation. Anyway, this podcast is honestly making me like Smallville more; not just from a fan's perspective but just looking at it holistically. Looking at the good, the bad, and the amount of effort the writers, the actors, and every other "behind the scene" people who put their heart in soul into it even when it was hard and difficult to do. I digress; Craving was actually the first episode I saw of Smallville and it got me hooked. I was a little girl; my brothers put the series on to scare the shit of me....it worked! I was scared lol, and I still continued to watch it.
I loved that so many actors from Smallville ended up in the DCEU movies, many in minor roles. Blink and you might miss some of them (Amy Adams, Joe Morton, John Glover, Adam Brody, Wendell Johnson, Ian Tracey, David Paetkau, David Lewis, Mark Gibbon, Tahmoh Peniket, Ted Whittall, Mackenzie Gray, Marc McClure, Michael Cassidy, Alessandro Juliani)!
Love that you’re fighting the anxieties to give us this! Trying to talk my shy 11 year old daughter to call in as we’re doing our rewatch with you guys.. speaking of anxieties. She loves the show and it’s been great rewatching it with her for her first time. Much love, fellas! Another great one.
I've discovered this podcast a few days ago and despite the swearing I really love the insight and that room has many cool posters but I especially like the Indiana Jones figurine.
I liked Alicia, her character deserved better but she wasn't the best fit for Clark she drugged and almost raped him talk about being a great fit for Clark lmaoo. If a male character would've done that to a female character would you be saying that ? Clark was uncomfortable with her and never really trusted her after that. Also he really liked Alicia but he wasn't in love with her
@@vbrandy7088 He absolutely was in love with her. They understood each other in a way no one else could, especially at that time. He forgave her for her previous transgressions, and acknowledged her growth as a person. They would have been amazing together, and I wish the storyline had lasted just a few more episodes. They could have given Clark a lot more personal growth just from that relationship, rather than the small bit he got from her loss.
Agreed! And I think their chemistry together was off the charts! It would have been awesome to see her and Clark together again in maybe an alternative/parallel Earth where they were permanently together and had many adventures together as "anti-heroes"? Maybe a whole different TV series called "Edge City" or something? ;-)
I am such a fan of Welling's btw and acting insights. It takes what could be a simple cash grab rewatch and elevates it to something more. I love that he is such a nerd for that aspect of the business behind the camera. 27:00 as if on cue. Perfect comedic timing. 😂

Completely not related to this episode (though this one is great), but I'm just about finished with my rewatch of the entire series that I started before this podcast became a thing, and every time JohSchneider shows up in the later seasons for a guest appearance, I'm reduced to a weeping mess. It just happened again. Lol. Thought I'd share. You guys are great, and the show was awesome. You can tell that those bonds you all formed were real. It shines through. I'm loving the podcast, growing pains and all. It keeps it real. ❤️ Keep up the great work!
Great podcast as always Rosey and Tom !!! This episode of Smallville was interesting and seeing Amy Adams so young in her career a great actress she turned out to be later on. One of the better Season One Episodes #TalkVille #Smallville #AlwaysHoldOnToSmallville
5:00 - Agreed. Those posters are brilliant. I loved the one for last week's episode, with Tom and Michael looking into the water and seeing Clark and Lex. It has something nostalgic and emotional.
smallville is my all time fav, for what it was and the time in my life that it occupied. really enjoyed them breaking down the episode. Tom doesn’t give himself enough credit for his contribution to the show and the analysis.
The best thing about the rewatch is realizing that every episode, even the ones I remembered being ok, have great forgotten gems. Love Smallville and Talk Ville.
Tom, you really made me laugh today, such a wind up. 😁😁😁 I also give this one rose 🌹 and my favourite scene was the same as Ryan's with Clark and Lana watching the film at the end.
Smallville was such a big part of my life growing up. The show aired when I was in 6th grade and I remember watching every week. Thank you guys for doing this podcast.

So once again thank you so much guys for your love, your will, your time and your effort. I will be forever grateful.❤❤❤
@20:49 Annette Toole's facial reaction to situations Clark place himself in are priceless and legendary. Like the witch episode where Johnathan finds a bra and asks Clark about it, he replies "it was magic" and Martha replies with such an amazing facial reaction "I am sure it was" lol, or the time Clark loses his powers and sleeps with Lana then tries to sneak her out of the house before his parents wake up but is caught by his parents, her facial reaction is amazing, and when is Clark is trying to explain himself her reaction, the words she uses are priceless. That just one of many.
I love Annette. She is great, and i can't imagine show without her. I'm currently on rewatch and coincidentally, i'm about to watch "Spell" episode tonight. I believe you talking about that episode, probably the only witch episode, but I don't remember bra scene.😅
@@misoboskovic You are right it is the witch episode I think episode is called spell and it is where the witches are first introduced. The scene I am talking about is towards the end of the episode after Clark has defeated the witches, so he thought and is back in his house with Martha and Johnathan walks in to ask Clark about a bra he found lol. It is also where Clark explains that magic can hurt him.
@@misoboskovic Like you I can't imagine anyone but Annette playing the role, she is incredible. I just re-watched or maybe I should use the phrase binged watched season 1-5 of Smallville about to move to season 6.
@@abbysands9510 Lana playing Countess Margaret Isobel Thoreaux😀 S4 E8. I remember party at the barn and Clark dancing like mad to Gwen Stefani "What You Waiting For".🤣That was hilarious. Annette is amazing, i love her since i was a kid thanks to Nash Bridges. That show was popular here in Serbia back in the 90's. Of course, i saw her in Superman, It and Cat people...and other stuff.
Amy Adams of course from Smallville going on to play Lois Lane in Man of Steel and the other Canadian actors I noticed were: David Paetkau - Played 2 different characters playing a high school student in Hothead with Dan Lauria guest starring and of course the comic character Dan Turpin in season 8. Alessandro Juliani - Dr. Emil Hamilton in season 8 and 9. Mike Dopud - Lex Luthor's Security Guard Kwesi Ameyaw - Another Lex Luthor's Security Guard David James Lewis - I believe he kidnapped Clark and Lois either in season 8 or 9 of smallville.
Off topic for Man of Steel cast. Joe Morton who played Steven Hamilton in Smallville. He played Silas Stone in the same DC Universe as Amy Adams in BvS and Zack Snyder's Justice League
I think similar to Buffy, Smallville used the freak of the week as metaphor for commenting on common teen issues and experiences. This episode is a standout for that, especially with people that struggle with binge eating and food addiction, which we know women in particular struggle with. I love Amy’s performance, she is awesome! I give this one 1.5 🌹. Excited to see who the guest stars are next week! 👀
My favorite part of this episode was the ending where Clark and Lana are watching Looney Toons. I just loved the strong intimacy between them. It was simple.
Having rewatched Smallville in the past couple of months I did notice a few actors that were in Zack Snyder's MoS, BvS, and JL films. Joe Morton for one was Cyborg's father in JL, Lex's cloned brother Julian played Jimmy Olson in BvS and an actor who had two different roles in Smallville one being an older Lex clone was a kryptonian in MoS.
It's funny how the deer-eating scene has both an effect that still looks great (the creepy jaw opening) and one that aged really badly (the CGI deer with its awkward leg movements).
I’ve been re-watching the show, in part because of this podcast. Up to season five, now. It’s been great. I appreciate this show so much more now. It was way better than I remember it. I do hope in the future, especially as Chloe becomes more of a central character to certain plot lines, they stop Voldemort-ing Allison. I know it’s a weird situation, and really sad on multiple levels. But I hope they can find it in themselves to talk somewhat about good memories from that time. Especially with some of the great stuff done with Chloe‘s character in later seasons. Really looking forward to next week!
I think the key to this whole podcast is that you've got a great format, good chemistry between you three, and the insights got me going back 20 years.

I like it too. I also felt that he didn't like the show at the beginning but it starts growing on him and he enjoy it more
Ryan will fall in love with smallville. It grabs you more and more as it goes.
I agree!!!
I still remember the moment that Christopher Reeves showed up..the music…I started to tear up with chills galore. Such an amazing scene
So excited we will be getting some Talk Ville merch soon! I would love to see a Pete shirt that says, 'Damn.. who's that..." (at the discovery of a dead body from the X-Ray ep. 💀😆
😂😂😂 yes!
😂😂😂
🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣. You are the best!
Great comment!! Hopefully they do this now just because you suggested it.
Nice catch 😯
So I'm new to Smallville. I actually hadn't seen a single episode until the 1st week of this podcast. Since then, I'm already on season 8 right now. I am hooked & I love it!!
wow, really
Welcome to the club! ❤💙
Great series! I watched it from the beginning on the WB. My cousin and I would talk about Tuesday's episode every Wednesday morning at work.
She gave it her all for sure
You honestly haven't felt for other characters?
If i was in his place i would definitely use those powers to help myself first, and definitely would use them to cash in all those talents 😁
and most definitely would hurt at least a bit some people that deserves it, would not be a "boy scout" and look at everything as black and white as many of them said to him. :)
I appreciate that Michael acknowledged he’s taking medication for his mental health. Thanks for removing the stigma!
I remember this 'freak of the week' being the first one I was truly sympathetic with. She has no control and she was trying so hard.
Great podcast as always and great conversations. Keep it up! ❤
Yep. Bit of a different FOTW for sure
The fire in the fight scene at the end was caused by sparks from a broken overhead light. The explosion was likely due to ammonium nitrate that is used in a lot of fertilizers, which would likely be in a greenhouse.
Just before breaking the overhead light causing "sparks", she had busted open a gas pipe with the shovel, and the gas is both seen and heard escaping.
@@TrickyZ33 nice. I missed that.
@@mimisiku20, Each season has 22 episodes. It should not take 10 years, for all 10 seasons :)
Yea I thought about that too. I hope they get at least half the seasons.
I think they also film a few at a time sometimes and just release them every week. I think they said that at one point.
The scene with the Looney Toons at the end was heartwarming. I love the way the show had moments like this.🤟
Being a “freak of the week episode” is not a low point. I love shows that have a new villain every week. That’s how superhero shows should be.
Not all, but definitely some should be
The only episodes I remembered were freak of the week episodes they were great
Hear hear
X Files had a very successful show based around it. Though it may fail in others, it can be a device that introduces cool moments, great guest stars, and more mystery to the world.
i disagree, lesser villains its fine, but seasons should move towards big ending with big villain. Smallville mostly completely failed at that, because they finished with Superman biggest villains too quickly.
This podcast takes me back to when I’d look forward to watching smallville every week. The show ended in my senior year of high school so I really grew up with it.
It’s so great to be able to re capture that same feeling all these years later 😁
Glad you’ve been enjoying it bud ❤️
That's a great time to grow up since your mind is developing as the show is.
it ended in my senior year too! I was 7/8 when it came on and when I started watching it...literally my childhood
remember balling my eyes out in that fanally, all those trials that he faced an swatch him grow up and not just to become superman but confident as a human being and in his relationships. So amazing. Smallville is a true coming of age story that nobody gives enough credit to
😅😅I'm old the show debuted during my senior year of high school
I like Tom's insights...he's really looking at details, and making conections.
Great to see a young Amy Adams killing it in this role! The mouth special effects were awesome then and even now to watch back. Thanks for answering my question too 😊
Agreed. They still hold up 💯
It was so awesome seeing you on there Sophie ^_^
We saw you today 😘
Thanks Sophie !!!
Grats on being on the show.
So I'd use a stronger word than "weird" if he was interested :D
But I don't think he sees her that way (yet).
😯
@NolanEP And it's pre L&O:SVU 😆
🌹🌹I love that Tom and Ryan are rooting for Clark and Lana just like fans were at that time. This episode was fun.
Absolutely loving this Podcast! Smallville was a huge part of my life and I discovered it when I really needed something positive in my life! Thank you for this, look forward to every episode!
Thanks for joining us bud ❤️
@@TalkVillePodcast thanks for todays show mic was really funny today😅
Yeah i love the inside talk with Tom and Michael and how they see Smallville and what they remember and felt during the shooting. And sorry Tom looks like Metropolis and Henry was more her Superman 😅
Preach!!!✌🏿❤️
For me, this was the first episode I had ever seen and it got me hooked.
Thanks buddy
Really enjoyed this episode. I think it was a great example of Michael's portryal of Lex especially the scenes with Lana where the dialogue is supportive of Clark but the demeanor suggests there's another motive. Absolutely brilliant 👍
Definitely "Craving" episode felt like a horror storyline. Of course you feel sorry for Amy Adam's character and what she goes through in this episode.
I wanna say it was Halloween almost
As an actor in a former life I appreciate how honest and funny you guys are about your performance moments over the years. It’s extraordinarily refreshing to see after all these years. I relate to hearing the ups & downs of being on a huge show like this for so long!
Little bit of trivia, Lana’s porch and bedroom window was the back of the Kent house, they painted the other side blue to make it look like a different house. Great show guys! Cheers 🍻
👏👏
I never knew that. Very interesting.
Peace.
Fun fact: Smallville has two Silas Stones in prior DC roles: Phil Morris, Smallville's Martian Manhunter, is Silas Stone on Doom Patrol.
Amy Adams!! 💙 She did a great job with the role. I felt so sorry for her character😓. And I love how all of the special effects still hold up....never look at green juice in the same way though 😵💫👀
🤣🤣🤣
Man, am I only the one listening to the podcast (commuting to work) and then WATCHING it on UA-cam as well? I’m doubling up every week and I’m here for it.
Best thing about Wednesdays!! So excited to watch this and hear all your thoughts on this episode!!
Happy Talk Ville Wednesday ❤️☄️🌽
Happy Wednesday lil Lisa ❤️
I heard a criticism of this episode from screen rant saying they stopped watching after it because it was fat phobic, makes me think im glad it was aired when it was.
I love this podcast btw so cool to see you guys together and talking about this series, i remember watching weekly waiting each week for a new episode
"You couldn't hurt a fly." This is in reference to how kind she is.
A line famously used at the end of Hitchcock's Psycho
I love how excited they get when they get Ryan’s favorite scene right😂
Cravings gets 2 roses from me.
Every time I see certain actors today, I can quickly point out that I first saw them guest star on Smallville. This show launched many careers!
Making our Wednesdays that much better! Thank you for this series!
Thanks for joining ❤️
I think the reason the greenhouse explodes is a combination of the fertilizer, sparks from the lights, and the meteor rocks 🪨 a deadly combination 😀
I enjoy the freak of the week episodes. Sometimes the Superman storyline is boring because we know the outcome. But the freak of the week stuff was interesting and entertaining.
"By the time it gets to market" 👏👏😂 that really made me laugh!
I'm loving this show💕❤
My favorite scene is also the last scene of the episode with Clana in the car watching a cartoon while "Hero" by Enrique Iglesias is playing. Like Tom said it was a perfect and sweet moment. It always put a big smile on my face, definetely one of the sweetest things Clark ever did on the show it was a sweet and meanigful gift for Lana.
Before I listen to this ,
Tom had mentioned this last week about how 1 out of 4 episodes are the gems of the series because of production cost.... and I'm really grateful that he mentioned that.
Anyway, this podcast is
honestly making me like Smallville more; not just from a fan's perspective but just looking at it holistically.
Lex probably offered to have Lana’s party at his mansion to help Clark. Like how a spot opened up for Whitney at the metropolis football
It's amazing how many prominent actors came up through shows like Smallville, they really worked hard and paid their dues.
And there were even more who ended up either in the Arrowverse, Krypton or Gotham but there's too many for me to name right now
Love that you’re fighting the anxieties to give us this! Trying to talk my shy 11 year old daughter to call in as we’re doing our rewatch with you guys.. speaking of anxieties. She loves the show and it’s been great rewatching it with her for her first time. Much love, fellas! Another great one.
No better time to enjoy older content with your children. Hope the bonding experience continues through the teens.
@@thehermitman822 those moments I get to look forward to each week.. with her. Great moments, indeed. Thanks for the reply!
I've discovered this podcast a few days ago and despite the swearing I really love the insight and that room has many cool posters but I especially like the Indiana Jones figurine.
Can't wait to see Sarah Carter's episodes. Still felt like Alicia was the best fit for Clark.
I did enjoy their scenes together! I honestly felt bad for Alicia.
She absolutely was. That was a turning point for Clark's character, big time.
this video gives so much nostalgia thank you micheal, tom and ryan for this, It’s amazing that us fans can see you guys sharing your exclusive stories and breakdown of each episode.
Thanks for returning pal

Completely not related to this episode (though this one is great), but I'm just about finished with my rewatch of the entire series that I started before this podcast became a thing, and every time JohSchneider shows up in the later seasons for a guest appearance, I'm reduced to a weeping mess. It just happened again. Lol. Thought I'd share.
You guys are great, and the show was awesome. You can tell that those bonds you all formed were real. It shines through. I'm loving the podcast, growing pains and all. It keeps it real. ❤️ Keep up the great work!
My favourite time of the week has arrived
🙌🙌
Great podcast as always Rosey and Tom !!! This episode of Smallville was interesting and seeing Amy Adams so young in her career a great actress she turned out to be later on. One of the better Season One Episodes #TalkVille #Smallville #AlwaysHoldOnToSmallville
Thanks pal ❤️
To then become Lois. 👍

Amazing that AA ended up playing LL❤
I love how both honest and professional everyone is! Thanks again for taking the time for this Rose & Tom (+ Ryan)
🙌🌹
The best thing about the rewatch is realizing that every episode, even the ones I remembered being ok, have great forgotten gems. Love Smallville and Talk Ville.
Tom, you really made me laugh today, such a wind up. 😁😁😁
I also give this one rose 🌹 and my favourite scene was the same as Ryan's with Clark and Lana watching the film at the end.
🙌🙌🌹
Smallville was such a big part of my life growing up. The show aired when I was in 6th grade and I remember watching every week.
Thank you guys for doing this podcast.
I love this podcast and Smallville! Watching with my daughter, reliving my 20s watching this show. I will become a Patron and can't wait for some merch! Heck yeah. I'm all in!
Fertilizer can explode in certain situations. Probably why that greenhouse just blew to pieces.
Love hearing stuff like this ❤️
Rosenbaum’s impression of Amy’s dislocated jaw got me. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 This episode frickin unnerved me as a teenager!
Agreed! This one weirded me out for years
I remember the thrill of waiting to watch the new Smallville episode every week back in the days, and today Tom and Michael (Clark and Lex) are making us relive that emotion every week with Talk Ville. So once again thank you so much guys for your love, your will, your time and your effort. I will be forever grateful.❤❤❤
Thanks for coming back ❤️
@20:49 Annette Toole's facial reaction to situations Clark place himself in are priceless and legendary.
@@misoboskovic
You are right it is the witch episode I think episode is called spell and it is where the witches are first introduced. The scene I am talking about is towards the end of the episode after Clark has defeated the witches, so he thought and is back in his house with Martha and Johnathan walks in to ask Clark about a bra he found lol. It is also where Clark explains that magic can hurt him.
@@misoboskovic
Like you I can't imagine anyone but Annette playing the role, she is incredible.
Thanks for episode 7 !! 🥂🥂🍻🍻

Oh man! Just found this video Pod today. Huge fan of the show. Now to catch up to your current episodes.
Amy Adams of course from Smallville going on to play Lois Lane in Man of Steel and the other Canadian actors I noticed were:
David Paetkau - Played 2 different characters playing a high school student in Hothead with Dan Lauria guest starring and of course the comic character Dan Turpin in season 8.
Alessandro Juliani - Dr. Emil Hamilton in season 8 and 9.
Mike Dopud - Lex Luthor's Security Guard
Kwesi Ameyaw - Another Lex Luthor's Security Guard
David James Lewis - I believe he kidnapped Clark and Lois either in season 8 or 9 of smallville.
Off topic for Man of Steel cast. Joe Morton who played Steven Hamilton in Smallville. He played Silas Stone in the same DC Universe as Amy Adams in BvS and Zack Snyder's Justice League
That's so nice of you to mention the artist and showing the posters :)
We expand on that next week 🙏
My favorite part of this episode was the ending where Clark and Lana are watching Looney Toons. I just loved the strong intimacy between them. It was simple.
Having rewatched Smallville in the past couple of months I did notice a few actors that were in Zack Snyder's MoS, BvS, and JL films. Joe Morton for one was Cyborg's father in JL, Lex's cloned brother Julian played Jimmy Olson in BvS and an actor who had two different roles in Smallville one being an older Lex clone was a kryptonian in MoS.
What an episode! Such an honor to have Amy, one of my favorite actresses, star in one of my favorite shows.
It's funny how the deer-eating scene has both an effect that still looks great (the creepy jaw opening) and one that aged really badly (the CGI deer with its awkward leg movements).
I love the banter, Tom's little jibs crack me up
I’ve been re-watching the show, in part because of this podcast.
Glad you’re enjoying it 🙏
I think the key to this whole podcast is that you've got a great format, good chemistry between you three, and the insights got me going back 20 years.
I cannot wait to get a tshirt. This was a great episode!!!! Amy Adams before she played Lois Lane… Holy foreshadowing Batman!!!!

Hahaha I'm sorry Rosey I couldn't help myself by your guys confusion of the fire. The character of Jodey breaks a pipe that let's out some kind of gas and then she breaks the lights which causes sparks, hense the fire. It's one of those boink and you miss it moments for sure!

Yes Miles Bennett Dyson I thought I recognized him
Met Tom Briefly at a photo op in Seattle. Two observations; 1) Tom is HUGE so much taller than I realized. He’s easily the size of Jason Momoa. 2) he’s super nice and very kind to all the fans. Exactly as I always perceived him. Thanks for being awesome Tom! :)
Now that Amazon Prime has put Smallville back in the lineup, I can watch the episodes now before the podcast. YAY!
