Seriously, Pinback is in my top 3 favorite bands ever. Every album is incredible. The way they layer the music and the vocals and their musical abilities is so underappreciated. No one I talk to has any idea who they are.
This is the kind of music video I might have seen as a child late, late at night and would have left an indelible impression on me for the rest of my life.
This album is a fucking awesome soundtrack to summer depression. It's just that lazy, bored, needing a change but can't be bothered to do anything about it, it's hot and everything is so wilted and listless, and it's only early July and it's just gonna get worse feeling. This definitely got me through the summer of 2007.
I saw them at a 20 dollar show 9 or 10 years ago. Got the urge to listen again and was pleasantly surprised to see they've blown up. (Rory if you see this, I miss you brother. Hope you're doing well.)
Too long til fall, sick summer in bed You and a lazy mood Ten times the fall, spread, sacked, and I've failed Nobody move, nobody move To long to fall Sat shiver in bed You and a test of will Too many fallen, too many failed Nobody move, nobody move Days with the light off, freezing You and I, uneasy, livid Stop, it's too late I'm feeling frustrated I see no sign of fortress I see no sign of fortress Safe as a cootie wootie with you Never pretend the chill Too many shadows, too many sails Nobody move, nobody move Summer is only winter with you How can you really feel? Two of another, none of a pair Nobody move, nobody move Days with the light off, freezing You and I, uneasy, livid Stop, it's too late I'm feeling frustrated I see no sign of fortress I see no sign of fortress Another delay, too many hassles Where do we go, how do we follow?
Oh my lord, last night I went to a Pinback concert and during this song Rob Crow jumped down into the crowd while singing and it was just an overall great show. So many good memories about that, and I was thrilled to be able to hear 2 hours of live Pinback. It was fantastic
Their simplicity is the secret variable in the equation that generates emotional attachment. These guys have done something impressive.. but at the same time, simplistic in every way. You know a PB groove moments in. Food for the soul!.. grab your utensils boys and girls!! Eat up.
Loved these guys since hearing them on Pandora (Nirvana similar-artists station.) Clean, chill, melancholy, interesting riffs and melodies. Not cheesy like a lot of indie-pop.
Every time I think to myself "I'm feeling frustrated" I think of this song. I listen and it gives me a good feeling that everything will work out in the end. In my frustration I realized It wasn't the end of the world for people, but for cars. Me, my brother, mother, father, cousin, and close friend had our cars crap out with different issues in the last three days.
My interpretation of the video: The world around them starts degrading once the king kills a flower to give to the queen. Basically, materialism destroys nature and relationships and causes war. Nothing bad happened when he killed the fish, probably to eat, but when he killed the flower for no good reason, the world crumbled.
and he planted the flower at the end to start a new life, unlike the one of the flower that he plucked. Yes, I can tell you were paying attention, muffin. nice interpretation :)
I like this interpretation. Music is the greatest art of all time. All art is in the eye of the beholder... My interpretation is that this is someone's mind... One day everything is great and could not get better. Then something happens and they fall into depression and self destruction... And when the dust clears they realize that everything is ok (the flower at the end).
It also appears that nature has a purifying quality. The Queen was cleansed upon seeing a bird, after being corrupted by the guard. By the way, who or what corrupted that guard?
I remember listening to this song in 2014. After many years, I just heard this song played for an advertisement; for “Searching For Alaska”. Hopefully this song catches on!
I would love it if they took one more shot at another album. I wasn't too taken with Information Retrieved, but everything else they put out was super solid.
This song is like the anticipation before that profound inhalation of the delicious air your chest is just throbbing to revel in, but instead it's a lungful of thick, putrid smoke that makes your mind spin. God I love this song.
this comment is making me go crazy... not only does it nail the feeling of the song right on the head, but i was 13 or 12 when it was posted. if i had listened to this song when i was that age, i know i would've felt the same way i do about it today: "god i love this song." something about that... makes it special. god, i love this comment!
Loved this song for years after Spotify threw it into my discover weekly. Decided to binge their entire discography recently and WOW. These guys are incredible 🧘🏻♀️
This popped up on a Pandora Stereolab mix. I completely missed these guys when they were active, but the LP is great. I think the commonality with Stereolab is that the songs are loaded with musical "rounds," which tend to make my ears feel warm.
Love this song, love the video, this is probably my favourite Pinback song although that is like having a 90 or so children which you love equally and trying to pick out your favourite, I love Pinback!!!
Just heard this on an ad for some hulu show, didnt stick around to get the name cause I just wanted to listen to the song, but good for them. People have slept on them for years, bought time they hit it mainstream
Looking for Alaska. It's kind of a hipster show but not the worst ever. The soundtrack is amazing however. Everything good from the early 2000s to 2010ish.
Lmaooo heard this song for the first time years ago from the OC soundtrack, on my dad's brick sized Ipod. So catchy the hook stayed in my head for a decade and I was able to find this again
🎈🤘🎶🥰saw them last night at the casbah SD even got a photo and chatted with rob before the show omfg! 2004 heard this on the radio high skool freshman thank you Pinback 💕
Did they play well? I saw them like, what 6 or 7 years ago? It was right before they broke up for a while. Rob got wasted and tried to crowd surf multiple times and basically played like ass and made an ass of himself. The other two were on point though. I'd see them again if Rob had his heart in it. It's disappointing because I didn't get to see them in their prime. My friend said they were amazing back in the day live when they had more than just three people when playing a show.
You really pinned down my feelings about Sigur Ros abd their music. The lead singer's voice is indead a great intrument added to the whole ensemble they play together.
One of the most criminally underrated bands in history. This album is incredible!

@@paulinekeown2472What's the other 2?

This song brings out the times life was beautiful as kid, hope to that time comes again as an adult now.

I'm still to this day so grateful for The O.C. since it was the show that introduced me to many songs that defined my high school years.
Listening to this for the first time in yearssssss and it's still as good as ever.
I cannot get enough of this song. Seriously, I don't think I could possibly get to a point where I've heard it to much. It's just too good.
I just don't understand why they're not HUGE.
Their music is so genuine. ;___;
The sound of a great band pulling everything together and making a truly beautiful song.
I can't stop listening to this song. as of now, pinback is my fav indie band
what's your favourite indie band now?

@@BrianCScott-br2cu What! I totally thought it was, "You and I on easy living." Their lyrics are totally unexpected.

My local radio station revealed Pinback's existence to me in 2013. THANK YOU KRXF 92.9 CENTRAL OREGON!!!
It's great when radios play some underrated indie song.
I discovered several great artists that way.
I found Pinback through MY MOM!
Really.
Damn I wish I knew how to find cool radio stations, although I did find a pinback hoodie in central oregon.
VERY LATE , THEY START IN 2001
It's 2021 and I'm coming back to this.
Nick Diaz brought me here and I'm very happy about it, haven't listened to these guys in years, love it.

When it more than just an artworks you will always find yourself here ❤

Remember first hearing this song in high school. Forgot how much I love their songs!
It's an amazing song, yet nobody I know has heard of it. :(
