- Music video for The Faint - "The Geeks Were Right"
The clip for “The Geeks Were Right” is as infectious and imaginative as anything from the heralded Blank Wave Arcade orDanse Macabre. Here’s a group that’s always been at their best when they’ve followed their instincts - they’re indie rock non-conformists, and their unconventionality has always been one of their most attractive qualities.
And for the first time, they’re calling all the shots. The Faint are now completely independent: the upcoming Fasciinatiion will be the first release August 5th on blank.wav, their own label. The group has already declared that Fasciinatiion is about predictions and the future, tabloid culture, the allure of what may never be and the loss of childhood innocence; we’re sure that description only scratches the album’s surface, since we know that the conceptual depth of every Faint album and Faint song reveals itself slowly, after repeated listens. .
Because the Faint understand (as did the best new wave artists) that primitive processing is often more affecting and psychedelic than high-budget effects, the band is a natural subject for guerrilla video. The memorable spot for “I Disappear” was one of the most visually-arresting of 2004; it was also a digitally-altered performance clip shot on an indie budget. The magnificently weird video for “The Geeks Were Right” is reminiscent of “I Disappear” - if anything, it’s even more primitive, colorful, and immediate. Once again, The Faint resurrect effects from the early stages of the video age, and push them to mind-bending extremes: floating orange grids, kaleidoscopic swirls of light, warped rainbow figures, contorted images that feel mirrored into infinity. Yet some of the most arresting shots are even simpler - the Faint guitarist playing in a black body-mask, or the head of a creepy bearded old man superimposed over that of the singer. It all unfolds in a twisted geometric innerspace, a world of pure idea and symbolism, haunting, chilling, evocative, traces of the human caught in the synthetic.
just watched this video after remembering having this song on my mp3 when I was younger, now listening, I'm like "Wow. They are very unappreciated for how ahead of their time they are." Very pleased that I clicked on this one.
They got back together and are touring!!! Goooo!!! I can't believe it I waited my whole life for them to get back together and I can't afford to make it lol. Remember the floppy disc shits that held like what 14-30 MP3? That was hilarious. Strange little part of technology history short-lived so they can make some the human geeks were right about that one!
2022 anyone still slapping this shit and wishing for the Good ol days!
This is very new wave
blessed are the geek for they will inherit the earth!
This song was on numb3rs last night and i liked it so much I had to look it up
For how many years have i listen to this , nobody realizes putting a damn lyrics , so , you're welcome in advance:
LYRICS:
Eyeballs float in wet green grass
I got a chainsaw motor that's filled with rain proof
When it sings like bach with eyes all bulging
When the pink sun drops the eyelids fold
While I'm in deep REM sleep or twilight zones
I take a freight elevator and press fast forward
I get to grind these teeth and beat through time
If I could bring things back they'd be that WILD
When I saw the future the Geeks were right
Egghead boys with thin white legs
They got modified features with software brains
But that's what the girls like, the geeks were right
When I saw the future the Geeks were right
Predator skills, chemical wars, plastic islands at sea
Watch what the humans ruin with machines
Eyeballs float in wet green grass
I'm in a chainsaw choir and dreams
That bend that let me cut through time and stretch out bach
I make the dry eyes roll and wet eyes cross
While I'm in deep REM sleep or twilight zones
I take the freight elevator and press fast forward
So I can grind these teeth and beat through time
If I could bring things back they'd be that wild
When I saw the future the Geeks were right
Simon Riley what a weird song
@@idkkk1825 yes , yes it is
Thanks 👍🏻
*If I could bring things back they’d feedback wild
😂😂😂 someone had to do it! Hey man I don't mind putting it on repeat! But I can't still understand the shitz sooo FINALLY
this is so cyberpunk
This is a combination of LSD and cyberpunk
something they did with like a gate on the vocals for this album makes it so iconic and recognizable
I should never have stopped listening to this band...
Prescient given AI's recent progress.
in love with this song, anybody else???
Did he say "I got a chainsaw motor that's filled with rain poop?"
HAHAHAHHAHAA OMG LOL HAHAHAHAAAHAHHA. Rain poop! LOL
omg, no way! "... rain BUTT"! =-0
I've got a chain saw motor that's filled with rain, but when it sings like Bach the eyes all fold, and when the pink sun drops the eyelids fold. Better?
Ragnar The Red Hey, you asked.
"Eyes all bulge..."
This song is pretty amazing! I swear it only gets better the more I hear it! The Faint is pretty fucking awesome! I would LOVE to see these guys rock a crowd!
I saw them in Philly in 2002, pretty shortly after Danse Macabre came out. It was great. They're probably all old men now...like me...
They still put on a hell of a live show...
I never had a chance to see the when I lived in Omaha for 26yrs. I grew up in the scene bu when ever they played I was doing something else.
They played alot of shows around denver too, never got the chance to see them.
Remember everything has a meaning.
"Egghead boys with thin white legs

When I saw the future the geeks were right"
Aliens/Demons
"While I'm in deep REM sleep or twilight zones
I take a freight elevator and press fast forward
I get to grind these teeth and peek through time
If I could bring things back, they'd feedback wild
When I saw the future the geeks were right"
Spiritual realm -Try looking up what a third eye is and how to open it. It taps into the same places- Drugs lcds especially are shortcuts to go in also.
You wonder wth they are talking about huh
they are talking about transhumanism
RIP Jacob ; (
I saw these guys only as "Norman Bailer" at The Cog Factory in Omaha. Conor was originally in the band but left or was kicked out(the story there is still kind of muddy but no sore issues or beef). It's just cool to see so many cool bands come from Omaha b/c it's such a small town but a lot of the people in the music scene there are so determined and brave that they don't let anything deter them. The people don't get girls pregnant at 14 or just fuck off and do stupid shit, no they are determined and dedicated to their music and it shows with The FAINT, Conor Oberst's various bands, Cursive, Emphatic, 311, etc. etc. a small mid west town kicks the living shit out of so many bigger cities when it comes to their success in music. A lot can be learned from that scene.
Taking a trip to 2008
Its about what happens when you fill your chainsaw full of rain, and when you finde eyeballs in wet green grass :P
saw them at cow palace a long time ago
@ilovejamesandmoney Everything. In the future we will have time machines, space travel. and all other nerdy/geeky stuff we will create them we are right of their existence!
The world needs more of this
omg this video is sooooooo awesome
They really saw through time, to the 2020’s onward.
Usually are, because we're smart.
ok I’m sorry but ACTUALLY a geek is someone who is smart at specifically one thing usually a hobby or type of piece geeks are not smart by definition. Nerds on the other hand are people who are smarter than most and are usually also a geek but a geek is not always a nerd.
I'm listening to this on a Sunday morning.
+Zack Gomez me too
me too. in 2016. lol
Same here Jan 13 2019
I found this band by watching Yo Gabba Gabba with my niece. Awk.
That white beard guy looks like darwin to me. :)
wasn't this song on tony hawk ride? because i have that game
Seems like I don't need to try LSD anymore.
this is a gina X song circa 1979
Just a shame that the rest of the album is terrible
Interesting how the visuals nowaday reminds of how distorted and skewed AI-generated video memes look.
OMG! What is with that freaky singing old man?! :/
i think i'm going to have a seizure.
I got to know this band from a flash game called dropkick the punk back in the early 2000s
It was worth it
Stephen Hawking's favourite karaoke song
Boris Psalman bahahahaha
you shouldn't watch that video when you're high ! :D
The Killers - Somebody Told Me
thank you!!! since the first seconds it reminded me something without being able to name it.
That nose: the likes of which can trump ancient cultures, conquer medieval militias, and sniff out the optimism of a better tomorrow.
I feel high as a kite watching this, and I haven't even taken anything today.
the lyrics just make sense for geeking thu time and rolling.
@NUBBARINO uh, dude, it can't get any lighter. as in lightweight. funny is funny, and just lame and not funny is just lame. "sarcasm was perpetrated by the jews" also fits nicely into lame and not funny. just saying. if i may. thank you for your concern.
I think the holodeck fucked up. Haha.
I wish I could bring back things also
Hmm, try listening to the beginning of this and also listening to the beginning of Never Again by Nickelback. Exact same rhythm!!! =D
The Geeks are ALWAYS right! lol
found from numb3rs
Same!
Same here too! I was going to look it up back in the day, but forgot, until I was just binge watching some Numb3rs on Amazon prime.
Bump this jam in your ride at red levels and scare your neighbors when the last hook drops. Soft Wet Brains
Does anyone else realize this melody is totally stolen from The Killers?!??! and the first 40 seconds of this song use a progression from a different song! Can't place my name on the song but I can just tell. These fools took 2 hits from other artists, made their own lyrics, and tried to recreate a similar feel. It worked, but too bad for them this song isn't nearly as popular as its predecessors/
I think the album is a grower and they did break a few rules in Wet From Birth as far as their sound is concerned, don't get me wrong, i fucking love their albums but give it time is all! also don't say bland heheh, i met the band in bristol, i mentioned bland to the lead singer as a compliment and he wasn't to pleased, then it took time explaining what i mean't!" If i thought they were bland i wouldn't have been at the gig at the time, but i know what you mean heheh!
@wushgoodie wtf are you talkin about, this is fucking awesome dude.
@filk82 Yeah the faint was around before the killers, but this track came out in 2008, the Killers song i'm talking about was released in 2004. But you're right, they aren't exactly the same just similar. The first time I heard this song the melodies were triggering so many memories I have of music, it just seemed very familiar. But hey, maybe that's what they were going for.
good fucking charlotte? did u really compare them to the faint, yea DenimJim is right, they all play instruments there's no play pack at all, there not 15 yrs old since they been around over 10 years and todd came from bright eyes but yea the video does kinda suck, if you want to see a bad ass video look up tunng the song bullets
One of my favorite bands, one helluva good song, shit video. Far,far too frenetic and color saturated, perhaps there should have been more focus on Mr.Fink and the rest of the crew instead of seizure inducing 80's inspired visiuals. Many, many substances must have been consumed in their new recording studio,it is the only explanation I can offer.
first off, this music blows. nothing original or creative about it. reminds me of the crap Good Charlotte puts out mixed with a bit of techno. the video isn't really all that mindblowing either. you all must be 15 year olds. try watching a Residents video or something
Hard to say;perhaps Electric, maybe D&G,possibly vintage. Never got a proper scope on them. Not to toot my own horn(HA! HA!,Horn!) but I do own an extensive collection of sunglasses if that puts your mind at ease or in some way satisfies your curiosity. BTW,good'?'
Featured in Double Decade - snowboarding video!
@wushgoodie No, the weird part of youtube is when the related videos are nothing but teenage girls and breast feeding videos. This is a weird ass music video but the faint is not on the same level as the aforementioned videos.
Such a rad band. Super amazing video on the geeks were right!
hmm i think this video reffers to him going into the futur and realizing umm haey u know the titl THE GEEEKS WERE RIGHT//yeah well maybe thats what the song is about///SINCE THATS WHAT ITS NAMED>.
shweet...saw these guys a month or so ago in brighton. one of my best gigs. well worth seeing live.
@markmarktarmann It was said not seen , The fact that you saw the words being sang he was talking about is kinda telling. It seems to be a simple lyric twist joke. Lighten up dude.
@edcoondog Please, don't generalize that it's something a 15 year old would say... -_-
I agree with you, he's close-minded, but PLEASE don't throw the rest of us into the mix...
I suggest you transcribe it yourself. It doesn't really seem like a difficult song to transcribe. Just adjust your amp so it sounds similar, then experiment.
Franz Ferdinand does a song I think with the lyrics "I had a boyfriend that looked like a girlfriend since febuary of lasy year..." I think it is that song.
Real catchy cadence , and the lyrics are nearly gibberish to ( normals )
but if you listen there's a lot of Funny stuff in there . I think it's inspiring on many levels
+rod sims Hidden teachings of reality, is in much of they're music, after his awakening in haiti. I call it god music, like vnv nation, and lindsey sterling. When you can see, and, or feel the energy bouncing around. A primer to using energy in safe manner. Some of us wake up in diffrent ways.
+Thomas Sawyer agreed
Thomas Sawyer
Sterling is garbage. all her music sounds the same. when she was underground she was good
anybody ever notice that they used worked up so sexual in that episode of the office were Michel, Dwight and Andy go to new york to party with Ryan.
Travis Pastrana 720 backflip (TP7) *
@brackishnz If you listen through most of the album, a lot of it is referring to the war on terror and other current issues. So, I agree with you.
haha, i just heard about 15 seconds of this on CSI new york. pretty catchy. ahaha
"Oh god! I'm starting to foam at the mouth! Need to bite a stick so I don't chew off my tongue!":)lol
this is your brain on WET, for sure, i dont get shit like this from acid or shrooms but this reminds me way too much of my brain on WET
Migraine inducing....
hell yea
@brackishnz there a song that has almost the same aspect as what your describing, its called- We Didnt Start The Fire by billy joel
What is this?
Yeah the 19th and 20th. I got tickets for the 19th early but they're sold out now. I'm not sure if the 20th is still available
favorite song right here.
Really good!
Does anyone know where I can find the guitar tabs for this song? I have looked, and I cannot seem to find them. =(
Yes, but the video is low quality as well.
It's a combination of the two that pleases my ears, but hurts my eyes.
video frigin epic!
Yeah a geek just told me that the faint was a really awesome band and what do you know?the geek was right!!!
amazing!
This video doesn't look so good with the shit video quality of youtube:s
But the song is freaking awesome!
this song was on the new nitro circuis country fried AND vurbmoto EPIC. nerds + motocross = FUCK YEAH!
I like this song, but the video reminds me of migraine auras, so I've got negative association issues.
