I use DDOS for 2 reasons. One because it's useful to stop trophy systems on objective maps and something you didn't mention but the score streak bonus it gives you when you hit enough targets. Many times simply doing that got me enough to a VTOL or even Chopper Gunner.
It should have a more devastating effect on lethals and other upgrades, completely destroying them rather than disabling for a few seconds. It should definitely affect the Wheelson and Sentry by disabling for at-least 10 seconds.
Considering how fast it recharges, i think ddos is in a good place, useful but not to the point that everyone and their mom starts running ddos for pushing and clearing
I came looking for a comment like this. Yeah, it would be cool if it effected red dots and electronic (non etched) sights. It would mean that sights with drawn cross hairs would have a small advantage which is kind of cool. And of course if someone is running irons they're totally unaffected this way. I just wish it worked on bomb drones. Cause I could see how a Wilson would be Faraday caged on the electronics making it immune to total shutdown. But drones are too small and too light to be immune to that kind of thing.
this is such a fresh take on analysing cod mechanics. The narration, music, gameplay, and style of presentation are really engaging. Its like how i imagine a how it works episode would be.
I never knew the DDOS has infinite range sideways, useful bit of info and yeah, the DDOS definitely needs a buff as its not good enough compared to other field upgrades
Another vital testing video by FavstaR who deserves a LOT more subs for all the great work he's put into testing CoD stuff. This DDoS is clearly all over the place. I feel like IW didn't test it much. I mean, what kind of EMP blast would go 25m in front but to a far distance sideways. Makes no sense. It should be in a bubble that goes as high as it goes far. Thanks for this. Maybe IW will understand what they created if they watch it. 😅
I now know how to unlock it's true potential. I use it mainly on vehicles in Ground War. After seeing some videos, thought it needed to be directed at a target since some of my attempts had failed. Seeing this, now I know has a rectangular range of activation. And then an infinite range? Wow! I'm pretty sure it does have a height range but, time to do my own testing and attempt to snipe a Heavy Helo from a ridiculous range.
The DDOS is great for getting free score for kill steaks. It also works really well with spotter. You can disable a claymore and then hack it to gain even more score.
Thank you so much for this. I was going crazy over how the equipment in range counter suddenly jumps between 0 an 4+ just by moving or turning slightly. Now this weird range explains this behavior.
U forgot that ddos disables vehicles in warzone, I didn't know about the unlimited lateral range before, so maybe u could snipe choppers with a ddos if u aimed it right!
Thank you for figuring out the range, I use DDOS a lot in some game modes where players use claymores and things a lot. If you can max out the affected items then to 5+ you can get around 200xp toward a scorestreak a lot of the time. DDOS has been a great booster for getting that first UAV up many times.
Used it during gameplay for a couple weeks. It looks more effective than it actually is. A very minimally effective tool. One thing you didn’t mention that’s worth pointing out… if you use scorestreaks instead of killstreaks, it’s fantastic for building up your score quick.
I agree it needs a buff of some kind. It would be nice it affected the semtex and the drill. Even if it just delayed the timer, giving you a chance to escape if you were smart and held on to your ddos. You should also be rewarded if you're successful enough to pull off a ddos in range of a vtol. It obviously shouldn't destroy kill streaks, but maybe make the targeting system take an extra second or two before it starts shooting at you or your teammates.
Finally a video that talks about DDOS, now I have an idea of how it works on the receiving end. I do wish they'd fix it according to the findings of this video.
The most powerful use of the DDOS, in my opinion... is vs vehicles. Which yea, doesn't affect most of the core gameplay of MW2 but when you can just shut down a Tank and slap two thermites on it? Thats extremely powerful.
You left out that it also takes out the red dots on sights. A weird thing also is it will take out your cross on the holotherm but doesn't take away the thermal picture.
Great video. I haven't used DDOS at all, but will be slapping it on my classes for pushing people. Especially for sending RPG's at players hiding with a trophy system out.
I would like to see a buff. I use the DDOS to counter the certain lethals and sentry turrent. I have used it to scramble enemy huds while capturing flags. I thought it would scramble the HUD more. I would hope to use it to counter the drone but I guess not. Thanks for the video, Favstar.
thanks for a really helpful guide! i think the main advantage of ddos is that it gives points for a full streak of points, which allows you to get points without leaving cover, but the scrambling effect really needs to be buffed
@@FavstaRGaming I mean specifically the scrambling buff. for example: full hiding of the ammo counter and other interface elements behind interference, and not partial glitches, as it is now. as well as hiding labels friend or foe
Great video. I feel this field upgrade is a bit all over the place and underpowered. Some of the things it effects make sense, but other clearly electrical devices aren't. And the 6 second effective time limit is too short. Should be longer, or should at least completely destroy electronic lethals and tacticals.
Almost feels like I'm watching David Attenborough of CoD. Everying clear, nice and concise with a professionally calm feeling to it. As for the DDoS, I'm pretty sure the lateral range is a bug, plus having it be rectangular while the scrambling range is circular is unintuitive to a degree I believe it is unintended. With it's effects, it clearly needs a buff as well. 6 seconds isn't that much of an issue since MWII is still quite fast-paced, but it should outright fry all electronic lethals and tacticals, while disabling field upgrades and killstreaks within range. Scrambling too should make HUD essentially unreadable, maybe even give fake information on compass/minimap.
It especially should be renamed to EMP, as an actually ddos attack wouldn't even work on probably any of the stuff mentioned, except maybe the sentry and wheelson.
The HUD scramble is more of a detriment, giving your approximate position away. Considering the HUD still WORKS, it's just a little less clear, there's not even a benefit to this.
The people who complain about camping in this game never use DDOS. It prevents the biggest issue that was prevalent in MW 2019 and BOCW: Trophy System spam. This is a hard counter to camping since it re-enables equipment push on a camping spot or better yet, the objective. It is fine as is imo, people just think it’s useless because they’re using it for things it was not meant for. DDOS does it’s one job VERY well. A 6 second window is enough to capitalize on to either push the enemy or destroy their trophy system.
Very good points made here, it's actually quite effective as an anti camping tool. I think most of us are comparing it to EMP effects in older CODs which had a different purpose.
can you do a new version of this video? i know that on the newest version of the game, the bomb drone will freeze in air for a short time if it is hit with the ddos. this might have been changed recently. the ddos is great though.

Ddos is great in DMZ to disable enemy player vehicles from ramming you or driving past you. I've been jumped by a few players while trying to drive past them who used it
Great idea! But does it work against other players vehicles like say the LTV and does it also disable your vehicle as well? And what about if a player is in a helicopter are chasing you down and you turn sideways guessing you did it at the exact right time does it disable the heli as well!??
@@ryanmorrissey7557 yup it disables LTVs and their turrets. I'm not sure about your own vehicle but it should not disable it. It definitely disables enemy helis and makes for funny moments. Yes it would be interesting, it would be cool if it disabled laser sights as well. Most reticles are non-electronic though, except for the rangefinders and thermals.
Personally, even though I love the idea behind it and imagine a number of scenarios where it would be useful, I have yet to find a situation where I actually use it. Yes a stronger hud scrambling effect, and maybe make it effective on the wheelson, would make it more useful. But at the same time it is so situational, that it's more beneficial to use a different field upgrade instead.

Hey thanks Zach I'm glad your enjoying the content. The only testing I've done with anti-armor rounds is on my Riot Shield video, which you can find on my channel. Thanks for watching.
Great video -- but I believe you omitted one important detail: the DDOS is *deadly* against gas-masked opponents. It practically renders you blind with how much distortion appears on your screen.
@@FavstaRGaming Yes, actually, that's why I found this video -- I was looking for some information on the effect. It completely decimated me in solos in the final circle, haha. Great video anyway, I subscribed.
It's impossible to test the height of the DDOS in Warzone without private matches, because of the insane side range you're not sure where the item is that you've disabled.
You’ll get a “vehicle disabled” notification, but it continues to operate. However I’ve been told that it does work on occasion. One of the many bugs in this game at the moment.
I'm still frustrated that they call it a "DDOS" despite that making no sense in context of what it is actually doing. I get that it's an unrealistic war game, but don't take concepts from computer networking and replace a generic EMP.

Haha ya it's a good anti-camper tool for sure!
Just remember Fav.
DDos then drill/RPG.
awesome intel FavstaR, cheers
Hey thanks Hibrid, I appreciate the support!
Great info and vid thx 👍
You bet
I didn't see any notice on it's effects on vehicles like helicopters in DMZ... I think it could be much more powerful there
Yeah it was pretty bugged when I made the video, time for an update I'm gonna have to retest everything
Great video -- but I believe you omitted one important detail: the DDOS is *deadly* against gas-masked opponents. It practically renders you blind with how much distortion appears on your screen.
Wow that's really interesting... did it happen to you? Would love to try and test it
@@FavstaRGaming Yes, actually, that's why I found this video -- I was looking for some information on the effect. It completely decimated me in solos in the final circle, haha.
Great video anyway, I subscribed.
So in warzone you can use DDOS to disable enemy equipment on the whole map that are to the left and right of you? Like on the whole WHOLE map?
It appears so yes, but only a 25m strip. Probably a bug but that's the way it works for now.
DDOS lasts longer than I do.
you should have shown the effect it has on vehicles as well!!
does it also affect your own placed mines?
Nope it only affects enemy gear.
How high does the ddos go? For example in the big buildings in Al mazrah.
Subbed BTW liked the info
It's impossible to test the height of the DDOS in Warzone without private matches, because of the insane side range you're not sure where the item is that you've disabled.
Great video I enjoyed it
Glad to hear it
Cam you pick up the ddos equipment and replace it to reset it?
No, once it's used it's gone.
Johnsonhack_ got me all guns
Camos skins gun level maxed and unlocked ✅
He's at Instagram 💯
Does the DDOS disable enemy vehicles in war zone and DMZ?
You’ll get a “vehicle disabled” notification, but it continues to operate. However I’ve been told that it does work on occasion. One of the many bugs in this game at the moment.
I'm still frustrated that they call it a "DDOS" despite that making no sense in context of what it is actually doing. I get that it's an unrealistic war game, but don't take concepts from computer networking and replace a generic EMP.
