    there are several possible reasons for oil consumption: stuck piston rings, clogged holes on the ring that scrapes the oil, hardened/shrunken seals, bad pcv. oil saver only deals with hardened seals. so the next thing you want to try is replacing the pcv and run an engine flush. or multiple engine flushes to unstick the piston rings/dissolve the carbon that clog up the holes.

    Liqui Moly states it takes 500-600 miles to reach optimal seal swelling. DO NOT use this every oil change! It will over swell your seals and gaskets. This product remains effective for 20,000 miles regardless of oil changes. Your going to cause yourself all kinds of problems adding this every oil change.

      @bapez31  8 місяців тому +3

      I ended up not doing that, I just used 2 cans of the stuff over the course of 1000 miles cause my car was pretty bad. But the issue lies within the piston rings and piece of shit GDI causing too much carbon and never getting touched by gasoline. I ended up getting a Acura TL best decision of my life🤣

    You should also replace your PCV valve. Once you start burning oil like this, the PCV valve tends to get sticky resulting in even more oil burn. It’s less than $10 and a good thing to just replace ever 60k miles. In my 1.6 Hyundai I was burning over 1.5 quarts between oil changes and now almost nothing. (1) I did the engine flush from liqui moly to help remove carbon on the pistons (increases blow by) (2) I did the CRC carbon treatment (3) I used the liqui moly ceratec with the next fresh oil change (4) I added the liqui moly oil saver on the next oil change. Each of these was done separately and decreased the oil consumption. The PCV valve and the oil saver had the largest decrease in consumption. Now I have basically no oil burning.

    • @bapez31
      @bapez31  Рік тому +1

      That’s awesome to hear man, currently I’ve changed the PCV, did the engine flush from LM, and the oil saver also from liqui moly, only thing I need to still try is ceratec but I’ve noticed oil getting out around my turbo so I’m honestly gonna trade the car in soon for a Prius🤣

      @@bapez31 yes I would dump any Hyundai/Kia. The American made ones have even more engine problems. We are only keeping this one because it was given to us for free. It’s basically worthless so we might as well drive it into the ground. Still, I do try and take care of it to make last longer as that is cheaper than a car payment. But it sounds like yours is on the way out, soon it will spin a bearing and then be totaled. Is it still under warranty though? Might be worth getting a new engine if it’s free. 😉

While my oil burning has almost disappeared, I noticed that it still burns oil on extended highway drives above 75 MPH or 125 KPH, so I took off the intake manifold and saw that there is quite a bit of carbon build up on the valves. I've changed my pcv valve which didn't fix it...also tried "Restore" which, once a few hundred miles were put on, seemed to stop the oil consumption but then it started again, I doctored it with 2oz more Restore the other week and a little more oil and it helped for a bit, then it's started again. I still have 3 years left to pay on my 2016 kia too, mine's not even the turbo version. Only 140k miles on it too. Going to try this Liqui Moly stuff, vehicle currently has factory style 5w-20 in it, I bought a jug of 5w-30 to top it off with, am considering shell rotella 5w-40 in the future too. Stuck rings seem to be a design flaw on these kia engines, someone tried seafoam in the oil with some decent improvement. Berryman's b12 chemical seems well regarded online too. It drives ok still. If there's any loss of power I can't really notice it but I'm not a heavy footer, I go the speed limit lol. I guess all I can do is limp it along with topping it off with a little thicker oil until it's finally paid off then try and get rid of it. At its worst before I added Restore to it was using up half or a little over half down on the dipstick after just a week of average driving. My old 90s truck with nearly 230k on it doesn't even use this much... I heard these GDI engines really gunk themselves up, I'm sure it needs that GDI CRC spray stuff done on it too but I doubt that has anything to do with it burning oil. I think it's stuck rings and/or seals messed up.

Having good crankcase ventilation will help reduce some of the burning as well but these cars had some issues with piston ring defects. Also, driving the piss out of the car should help a good bit, carbon is your enemy, especially in cars with low pressure rings and turbochargers. Liquimoly and ATS have some of the best products for removing sludge, carbon deposits and freeing up thin passages, alongside restoring seals and reducing engine noise by really cleaning things up.
