    --------
    In this clip, Michael Franzese spoke about being around Colombo family hitman Gregory Scarpa, who was known as "The Grim Reaper" due to his fondness for carrying out hits. Michael then added that the FBI definitely exaggerated that Scarpa killed 120 people, as he pointed out that the Colombo crime family only consisted of 115 people total. He went on to speak about Scarpa becoming an informant and being hired by the FBI to hunt down KKK members in the "Mississippi Burning case."

      GoodVybz Very true. The only other thing. Is that scarpa and his crew were heavily involved and by some accounts responsible for the second colombo war (the biggest carmine persico loyalists). Lin Del Vecchio. The fed that would pay scarpa for info (he got real close with scarpa and was actually arrested over possible involvement but acquitted) and apparently was believed to have used his intelligence and gave it to scarpa which revealed where enemies were. Such as the guy scarpa shot down while he was hanging christmas lights. I agree it aint near the number they say, but might be higher than 15 with all things considered. I would say it is likely about 25. He put in some serious work for persico during the war. At least he did do one good thing and help play a crucial role in the mississippi burning situation with the kkk and the civil rights workers. He put the fear of god in that kkk scumbag. lol.

      Exactly. That's the main point being missed here. Even when Scarpa was withering away from AIDS, after getting bail, he was jumping in a car looking for other Colombo guys on the Orena side against Percisco to murder and he did it. He even took a bullet graze to the eye doing it. Even the FBI was like, "Nah, that's it for him" after abusing their system and wantonly running rackets and killing folks since forever.

      Well, if you watched this interview, or any interview of Franzese, he is constantly making the point that the concept of a "mob hitman" is a myth. Some guys kill people because they cant earn, but Scarpa was an earner but did "work" because he enjoyed it. He could have avoided it, for the most part, if he had wanted to but he enjoyed killing people, hence the nickname Grim Reaper.

    The way he talks... every single time I've seen an interview or video of Michael Franzese speaking, he is always giving you the feeling that he is aware of every single word that comes out of his mouth. The way he said " I can count the guys that I know of that got murdered on the fingers of both hand"- instead of saying he is aware of up to 10 murders and lead the law enforcers to believe that he was a witness to that. His logic and clear mind show why he was such a big earner.

    I'm from Howard Beach Queens NYC the Mecca of Cosa Nostra for the past 50 year's. It cracks me up when these dudes interview these guy's and always say how did you get involved like it's so hard, we were born that'd how we became connected. If you grow up in a neighborhood like this it's impossible not to know everyone. when people use to ask me how I met certain people I said I was born, went to school, had a father, an uncle etc lol. I was smart enough to walk away from the street life at 27 freely before the button conversation came up. I'm 46 now and broke and miserable as Hell but free and my life is my own to control. That fast money and life style stays in your blood though it's always missed to a degree.

    I like how he called out the dishonesty on the part of both the FBI and some of these guys claiming to have killed so many people. I’ve wondered about these claims. If all of these people killed as many people as both parties claim, the population in the U.S. would be about 10% smaller, not to mention that it would be bad business on the part of the mafia. When bodies start stacking up, it starts to draw attention, particularly if they aren’t people, “in the life.”

      Greg got into that life in the 50’s and died in the 90’s. 120 divided by 40 you get 3...3 kills a year is believable. Even after diagnosed with hiv he was still killing people.

    • @Luminousreign
      @Luminousreign 2 роки тому

      @@pornneliushubbard1967 It isnt like the FBI was flatout feeding him info to get people killed and werre keeping count of everyone he killed or anything...oh wait. lol Franzese is just hyping up the life on the downlow while spitting on the goofy numbers the fbi throws out. Scarpa wasnt just some mob guy , he was a literal assassin. Part of his grim reaper moniker was that he was a known spook. It is why Scarpa's thing was always tangential and distant to the family, his government ties were a useful liability. all the wetwork he was doing was earning, it gave him cart blanche to kill other guys in the life without fear of the fbi, and they had a symbiotic relationship when it came to information which allowed the mob to feed them bad info and get people arrrested. 3-4 guys were dying everytime persico or orena would try and set up a hit, and it was his crew that was doing the majority of the killing on the persico side, so much so that when Scarpa stayed neutral they threatened to kill one of his crew. Most people knew Scarpa was a rat in some form of the other ( had a clear history of doing dirty work for the government) so he was immune from retaliation because they didnt want the fed heat . Fun Fact the Jimmy that worked under Scarpa is the same Jimmy that drove michael to what was almost his final sit down when they thought he was stealing from them.

    • @Luminousreign
      @Luminousreign 2 роки тому

      also just speaking factually and realistically Scarpa and his relationship to the FBI was totally corrupt and out of hand., remember his handler got caught up in his mess too. 120 is probably the LOWEST guess because if those numbers were doctored they were lowered not raised which is the opposite of what the FBI normally does.

    • @Luminousreign
      @Luminousreign 2 роки тому

      Also they had 115 made guys but Franzese is conveniently leaving out everyone lower on the totem pole. You cant just kill a capo not even if you are the grim reaper. lol it is very mob of franzese to forget about the associates that compromise most hit squads.
