You forgot the most important Thing. The gain knob is like how much you drive the valve. Therefor there is a makeup knob to compensate volume. I turn it down. With more drive it Sounds really good. You can open the graph and See it visually how the whole eq curves go up.
Yawn. These curves have been around in software form for over a decade. What did PA do, incorporate the curves and add some harmonics? Now were back to a typical pultec plugin- of which there are like 30. I dont see why this is needed or different
It's not "needed"; they need revenue and this is another opportunity to get it... lots of new engineers/producers might need this or find it useful, is all
So that they have a harmonic pulltec in their lineup. Same reason they added a reverb. You didn't need another reverb, but for new producers this is now part of their entire line-up.
Hey Matt thank you for uploading this comparison. Much appreciated. The Kirchhoff EQ which is also part of Plugin Alliance, can that emulate this pultec?
First of all, thank you very much. Everything is registered and paid for. The problem is that you cannot have direct written communication with Plugin Allianz, i.e. point out the error. That is very bad!
I already have the Bettermaker 232D... and just bought this. The main reason is that the original one, eve though it sounds great, is just an eye-sore to me...and since I'm dyslectic, all the buttons, etc confuse the hell out of me. This new one is much easier on the eyes. Its also got the M/S and analyzer options which are pretty useful. Sonically, they are def similar...not better or worse (or should I say - Bettermaker or worse...had to do it:)
Well they are different as much as the 232D is different to every other pulltec - cause 232D is an entirely clean plugin, and this one is not. I will agree the 232D is an eyesore though.
Thanks for the great review. I own the SPE as well and wondering how the SPE compares to its tube brother. Just don't know if its possible to bypass the tube stage on the valve hardware same way like the plugin.
@@Allious131 What are you even on about. Why are you reading up on new plugins if you hate the idea of new plugins and hardware? What is your purpose, exactly?
They came out with this because Kiive Audio just dropped a Focusrite Mastering EQ which is really nice as well. this sounds good but the Kiive Audio sounds more like a Real Analog Unit if you could only buy 1 I would still recommend the Kiive Audio EQ over this one

Nice! Thanks for pointing that out
Love it. Sounds amazing.
I was stunned of the sound when I put it on a Metal mix. Set it to mid side to widen up the mix and the sound was great!

I personally trust pa plugins more than most to be stable so it is a very welcome to my mega subscription

Nice video. I like the feature to select the frequency to boost/cut , vs the stock UA EQP1A plugin. That said, there are too many Pultec plugins

If they have not updated it the Kirchoff does not have harmonics, it has the curves though
@@nkwln Thanks.
Thanks, Matty. Great video!
Hello,
can someone help me? For a few days now my Bettermaker Passive Eq won't open on two DAWs.
probably not registering your license then?

Did I need it no did I pick it up yes for $20
Sounds nice and I do like the valve and the mid side options
How does this compare to UAD pultec?

Is the song released? "Bad Habit, Breaking Rules?
The one complaint I’ve seen is that is aliases very heavily.
how´s the plugin version compared to the real one (hardware) ???
Like any other plugin...always worse.
Tried the demo. Sounds great.
Name of song at 8:09
A really good review.
Can’t wait for the HW version
And it still won't help your mix it can still be trash has nothing to do with anything

I just bought it right now.

Two very different things...
To be fair they probably been working on it for a few months before the release so I wouldn’t say it was because of kiive
They should do a Focusrite Red compressor emu, Kiive do compression well
Software development is decided months if not a year or more before release. It's most likely a complete coincidence, it happens
LETS Goooo
Kiive for Pultec, Pulsar for Massive
I prefer uad and pa 🫠
70hz!
