Good couuunterpunch, but you have to have a lot of timing, because if it's someone who feints a lot and has a good jab (0 telegraph), his jab will beat your overhand right, but if you have timing, you'll surely land a ko blow
You can throw the overhand right even if the jab was just a feint, or if you just want to throw it proactively, if you're slipping properly at the same time. You might even still land the shot. If not, make sure to either pivot to the left or roll back to the right in case a counter to your overhand is coming. But the overhand right is actually a relatively safe punch if you're slipping well at the same time. Just like an outside slip jab. There is not much that can happen to you when you throw it
Even if a jab lands you can still land an over hand since it arcs around the trajectory of the jab to exchange hits, and while your busy jabbing your left hand is MSI to defend it.
A great alternative to this is slipping and throwing a sticky jab or a stick jab and then firing over the top with the overhand right. Adesanya does this flawlessly, as can be seen with his Stun of Periera in the 1st fight and his KO of Periera in the 2nd fight.
Yeah he’s right ask your instructor, it may be the students are not ready for these type of tactics or he may not have the knowledge about timing and counters.
@@Bankdontclosebro I don’t have to because my current instructor has already showed us so much more than TSK ever did. The students are more than ready. TSK follows a very strict curriculum for the students and are not allowed to deviate from it at all. I was there for almost a year & was just learning very basic things. Plus they are super expensive.
True but ideally you would launch both of your strikes. He’s leaned in from his jab so getting hit from the left side with a left hook straight to the face is most likely going to knock him off balance and rob any power from a counter he throws. If that right comes in first tho (if he expected you to counter like this) than yup you’re about to eat a mean right
The funny thing when i see those guys, and mostly people, regular people don't know,is that guys who are slim and tiny, can generate huge amount of ko power,in addition with the popular opinion that only tall, hulking, and muscle-growing guys had enough strength and ko power. As we say, running is generating by the hands, and boxing by the foot.
‘Unorthodox counter to the jab’ wtf are you on about🤣 the cross counter is one of the fundamental punches in boxing - it’s literally where the cross gets it’s name, crossing the rear hand over the opponents jab
How would do u defend this move as kickboxer/thai fighter? Because as a regular boxer u would just duck under it, but u obviously cant do that in muay thai/ KB cause your gonna get kneed

Why don’t we do those kinds of moves as regular students? All these great tutorials but we certainly aren’t learning them lol
Ask your instructor. You can also earn online and practice on your mat.

Dangerous move. If the opponent is doing a 1-2, you're going to land right into his cross.
Simply block with your lead hand
One right counter from him and its ova

Osu Joshu😊 nice combination. 👍
Very hard to land , very hard

That’s an overhand bro
That's not a cross, chump
Overhand into uppercut good?

You're still open for a clean right hand
Just pivot
Pivot on your lead foot and angle off
@@nathansackett6890 u can also just block it with your left hand, that’s why he had it up
A left hook straight to the face while slipping to the right of his punch woulda been better ur face wouldn’t be in the way of his other glove
But he’s not just gonna throw a jab what if he follows up with an uppercut or something
F***
Its called a cross counter 🤓
Imagine if the opponent is going for a 1-2 🤣🤣
is this not a right hook
