Punch Boosting reminds me of the early seasons when you could punch the ground when landing from a high fall to prevent the movement slow. Still do it today out of habit
• R-99 having 3x scope on • Wingman being a Heavy ammo weapon & also a lot faster firing • Good old Skull Town & Cascades in Kings Canyon, only OG’s will remember it. • Triple take being an energy weapon and also us trying to “precision choke” hop up to Triple Take and Peacekeeper . Maaan.. good times
Thunder dome shit on skull Town best poi in apex history hands down and its literally the home of the thuderdome games the games responsible for the apex games.
❤❤ love this as a day one player. Also have to mention, not only did wraith insta-phase, she didn't have the blue stream trailing behind her. You had no idea where she was going. She literally became invisible 😅.
Fuel Depot and Water Treatment were classics. WT was my main drop on Kings cause you could loot and clean up at Skull Town. Thanks Mango for the Nostalgia, from a season 0 player 🙏🏻🤙🏻
Gold knocked down shields used to give a self revive passive. It led to some crazy plays back in the day. Every legend also used to take the same amount of damage so big characters were much worse than small characters in fights. Bloodhound's tactical was much worse and would only reveal a static outline for a few seconds, the ult also didn't increase in time after kills. Also the season 0 mastiff was an absolute beast that was pretty much guaranteed to get a knock at close range.
unlimited zip line use was so fun I think they removed it purely because as you mentioned it was spammed hard in end zone where players would just jump up and down on them until the final squad I remember playing so many OG games where basically the end zone was just a trampoline park of ziplines
When you land on the train, you have to fist fight first, when people start falling, get distracted or you get to the station, the weapons get more important, the only down fall, people who are waiting at the station with guns for the chaos to arrive.... I still love it as much as the supplyship❤️
Regarding Legends, Mirage and Crypto also went through some major changes and reworks as u couldn't just throw crypto's drone out (also at the start it used to have 1Hp) and Mirage's ult made him invisible (also his passive was basically useless). Loba couldn't pick up unlimited ammo with her ult either and 1 stack of ammo meant 1 out of the 2 items picked. Caustic's gas cans were indestructible once activated. Bloodhound's scan sucked. Then it was OP. Then his ult became OP. and now he's good. Just to name a few.
Surprised you didn't mention why the Wingman is such a beloved weapon. It used to have an insane fire rate, which meant if you were really good with it, you would rarely need to switch to your other weapon.
There was a time where bunny hop healing was a real thing and was severely(basically just flat out removed it) nerfed to the point where its basically unusable except when you have a speed boost or something.
Back in the pre shield days landing on people to punch them was actually broken lol. 4 punches to down, and punching in those days had a stupid range and lock on. It was brutal😂
I've only just started playing again after dropping off around season 5. Most of this is how I remember the game! Getting used to all the changes (and legends!)
Invisible Mirage - that's the thing I really miss... His ultimate, I believe in season 2, was so OP. I shed a nostalgic tear... But, todays Apex Legends still good, they doing a great job, game is better.
Honorable mention: In Season 0 healing stacks were bigger, you had 6 Cells/Syringes per Stack, 3 Bats/Med Kits and 2 Phoenix Kits without needing a golden backpack😂
Some people will never be able to experience what Apex was like back in the good ol' days. One thing I don't miss personally is the 60 round mag spitfire while it was still using heavy rounds. One of my favorite poi that was taken away is thunderdome. Such a versatile spot like fuel depot
Dropping in with nonething was the best had some of the funniest starts like full landing on 1 person to punch them out then turning to his teammates and punching them out and then hunt down the last one
Man, look where we came. I started at at s3. I witnessed all of these things. When Seer came, he was my main and was so OP. Also, Wraith didn't see where are the enemies :D
I feel like you could do a part two because there’s so much you could mention like the sweaty wingman meta, heavy spitfire was OP, gold revive was a self rev!!!!
Something to note: when he mentioned the grenade stack change, that came with an increase in overall size of all backpacks while they nerfed how many items per stack you could carry for every item
I actually think they should return the fast heal for gold Evo shield exactly for batteries and med kits. Otherwise they don't make any sense as soon as you get a gold shield
Remember when Lifeline was able to revive two teammates at once? That's was insane. Also miss when revenant was able to run on walls like in Titanfall. So many crazy plays.
You kmow what i miss mango? The skateboard videos at the end always felt like it reminds me that your also just as much of a person as we are! Keep up the awesome work bro! 👏
thanks for the kind words, I made a channel for the skate clips over here, but I'll definitely still throw them in the Apex vids from time to time! www.youtube.com/@GoneSkating
The first few seasons, mirage turned litterally invisible with his ultimate for like 10 seconds, one of the most op moves they removed later. Proud to have witnessed all these changes and sad because i want some things back again
I am a veteran player and adding shields and health items at the start was a really good idea, also punch boosting shouldn’t have been removed. It was one of the only few movement techniques controller had that wasn’t tap strafing.
I will always remember at one point lifelines drone never died to zone plus she had fast healing and i will always remember watching daltoosh sit at end game zone stacking heals with drone and won the game.
I remember the charge rifle when it dropped I knew it was gonna get nerfed because anytime you ran across the open you were getting beamed by a whole team
Useful as a what's changed if you come back after 15 seasons. Hadn't figured out the last one yet, thought I just reallyy sucked at ziplines now. The gold item changes are really confusing ngl.
Way back when executions didn't give full shields and were just for BM, gold armor's bonus was that executions gave full shields and gold backpack was the one that gave fast heals
Before the fast heal the gold shield does what all finishers regardless of shield color do now, and the backpack was the fast heal. Gold backpack became what the gold knockdown is now when the changed the gold shield to fast heal.
as a day 1 player, i really wish i could go back in time and play original apex arc stars were fucking crazy, a gold shield was by far the best gold item to pick up, hardly anyone played gibraltar, EVERYONE hated the mozam, caustics would go completely overkill with their gas traps at bunker, the spitfire was the most op weapon in the game, and bloodhound’s scan was basically useless but they did make some really good changes that made the game A LOT better
Also you used to kick the ground so you weren’t slow (I have a habit of doing so to this day) gold knockdown shield was self res, gold back back was what the knockdown shield is today, the spitfire WAS heavy ammo, and op as all hell, the alternator had charged rounds in season 2, in the original apex there was no seasons, and you used to be able to open a loot box, or carepackage and punch it, climb on top and fly across the whole map, In the old firing range you could teleport out of the map with revenant, and also the heirloom page did not exist and not many people know about heirlooms, and hope’s Dusk was the only heirloom.
fast heal used to be gold back pack, and gold armor used to be like any armor today when if you finish somewhere it regens back. fast heal gold armor was later thing
You mentioned that you could put sniper scopes on the Triple Take, but didn't mention the important detail that the Triple Take used to take sniper ammo.
What about the dinosaurs that got moved around Kings Canyon tho? At one point you could literally get stomped on and mashed by them and people used that to troll 😂😂 good old days
I played first day it came out and the first week, and haven’t touched it since, redownloaded it and played it last night, it was so weird to go on lifeline, rez someone and not have the shield, I was freaked out
the thing that's unbelievable is that they still haven't reverted back to lifelines revive shield since the only reason they changed it in the first place was because of arenas
#4 needs more info. Because you said "back in the day" and then started talking about it's FIRST rework in Season 4. But "back in the day, before it did that" it actually restored your shields when you did a finisher. It was easily the worst gold tier item in the game because there was also no option to cancel finishers. So it did one kinda cool thing, but only if you risked a finisher. Since we didn't have the changes to "starting loot" it was extra extra useless if you didn't have anything like a helmet or knockdown or heals to keep yourself alive if you got beamed mid finisher. When they buffed it, they overlooked how OP it would be stacking with LL's 10% faster healing, making her an absolute mini god for like a month before they fixed it and eventually removed her fast heals.
the long bow used to take heavy ammo The triple take once used to take sniper ammo Mozambique got 6 shots during an april fools update Pathfinder used to be a support legend, then a recon legend, now a skirmisher Wraiths tactical used to be instant You used to be able to combine the speed with wrwiths portal and her phase ability and she would go super fast Wingman and spitfire used to take heavy ammo Mirages ultimate ability was for him to send out 3-5 decoys and go invisible for a period of time, similar to when he revives someone Crypto's drone wasnt thrown before u could use it Loba once had a time where her tactical would basically not work and every time you used it it would come back to you
I personally hated the res shield. It was one big massive grenade target. Better to have someone crawl behind cover and do a low key res with her drone.

Never forget the bug with the train when you would run from cart to cart while it was moving and falling thru instantly killing you
As someone who played sice apex's release this was so nostalgic. In my opinion train was the best and i was heart broken when it got removed.
Lifeline’s Old passive of popping shield cells faster was my favorite.
