Heres a tip. Dont pay for something sight unseen!
I buy off Ebay & I Always got it & Lot came as described.
SERIOUSLY!!
Like I said, he's an idiot...
This has been the oldest scam on Facebook marketplace. All you have to do is say where can we meet. I will pay cash, and you will see quickly it is a scam. As they will make all kinds of excuses. Always remember, if the price is too good to be true, it is a scam.
Facts
Another red flag is being asked to send payments with gift cards. That is always a scam. I feel bad for the guy.
I do too, but he is still a sucker. I honestly can't believe he fell for it!
Stay off of Facebook and never send cash cards.

You're not a sucker Sir, you're just a good, trusting individual, and scammers take advantage of people like that.
Naww..He’s a sucker!!!
pretty sure he is a sucker
he's not adapted to the online word and he paid the price to learn, lady is just trying to pick him up xD
@ZiggyTheAdventurer
Yo mammy's a sucker. I know how she got that title. 😆
@@ARedMotorcycle My Mom died of cancer, but thanks
NEVER buy something online if the "seller" can't meet in person!
eBay does not offer 5 day inspection periods. If an item being advertised on Facebook claims that eBay is handling the shipping, it is a scammer coming for your money.
Very unfortunate. These scammers ruin people wanting to buy online.
Yes they sure are and also can be glad not to be around this part since I quit this scene of social media since the type that are still on really need to deal with the best all the time which really can't be good for you.
I've bought and sold many times on Facebook Marketplace - always and ONLY with in-person, direct transfer of cash for goods or vice versa. It's great for local transactions. But there's simply no protections for online/remote sales. Only a sucker would think so. At the very least he should have paid with PayPal to have some record/protection. NOTE: I did bail on Facebook this year. The trash I kept being subjected to became too much. Facebook is a cesspool.
When picking up your purchased item, ALWAYS inspect before paying, ALWAYS. Unfortunately you cannot trust ANYONE anymore.
That specific con is very common. Someone tried to pull it on me once. The whole delivery method was going to be ridiculously complicated so I turned it down. Then started hearing about the same scam over and over.
No real contractor would ever share a picture of there CAC card, but he may not have known that. Our gov and social media sites needs to crack down on telemarketers and scammers
That and a real CAC doesn't have any job or MOS info on it. It would never say Special Forces
I totally agree
If you see something that's usually expensive being shown as a cheap price on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace, then that should be considered a trap, because once you pay that low price they'll keep asking you to pay more and more money, then at the end of the day you get nothing and realized you've been scammed. Don't trust low prices on stuff that would usually be expensive, because it could be a trap to get you to pay that low price just to get you to pay more and more money, and then you end up with nothing at the end.
My husband had just died and my 2006 van with 90000 miles stalled I and paid total of $330.00 in towing fees and $900.00 mechanic costs. The van still would stall even with a new fuel pump and it's dangerous. I would have taken $800.00 cash for it in a minute. Junked it for $420.00.
even on Ebay they protect the Seler not the Buyer, I found this seller post 2 dance shoe I buy the one dance shoe for $60 I tracking and they show delivery , I received nothing, I wait for 2 days still don't received anything, I contact the Seller she willing give me other shoe which I don't like the style she offer sending replace for me shoe that I don't like , I ask to return my money, I check with USPS since I know the mail man I ask him do I have any packages he said whole week you don't have packages just letter, so I contact the Ebay, they told me the seller did send to me already that mean they lost in the mail, they award the seller I lost my money from that moment I never buy in Ebay any more. I recomen people don't buy on Ebay, nor FB,
@@jjk2one🙄🤦
Karen, you are obviously not the brightest bulb, so I'll explain in one sentence: an inoperable car will be worth less than one that is in working condition.
How do you ruin a 2016 car? My 2016 was running flawlessly up until it was totaled in an accident last year. I got $9,000 out of it.
It's obvious your husband handled everything, which is fine, but stop pretending you understand
I use Ebay more. Leat they will refund your money. Did couple times. Facebook Not a chance.
I can't believe someone actually fell for that scam...
The older we get, the more likely we are to fall for scams and emotional stories. Scams usually work if the scammee thinks they’re also benefiting from it (too good to be true). You have to be greedy or naive to be scammed in most cases
@@1_star_reviewsDon't insult older people like that. Some of us are not this gullible.

I'm so sorry for this poor man. I hope he finds a good vehicle for a price he can afford and that someone helps him out.
Almost all these scams are easily spotted if you think about it, never give money to anyone that's not standing in front of you.
Idk...having the buyer or seller standing in front of you is not always a safe bet. Just watched a video on a Facebook marketplace scam that occurred somewhere in Chicago a few days ago. The buyer and seller agreed to meet so money could be transferred face-to-face but when the buyer arrived, 3 guys jumped out of another vehicle and robbed the buyer of ALL of his money and property.
it was the request for gift cards that the biggest red flag. You can dispute a fraudulent charge with your bank but not with a gift card company.
Facebook knowingly has scam advertising and refuses to remove it for Facebook its all about the advertising money they get from the adds and they could care less if their users get scammed
I agree. Facebook and meta need to hold these people accounted. I don't shop on their site because of it. They just let it be a lawless platform. Sickening
Send no money until you see each other in person
If private sellers had to upload a photo of a government issued photo ID held next to their face that should help to reduce the number of scammers on Facebook Marketplace.
In this case, the "Army ID" was bogus. Anyone actually in the military would probably have caught it, but those who are not familiar with ID cards likely would not have. The "grade" was missing an "E" (should have been E-5, SGT, not "5, SGT") and normally the service is listed, the branch isn't. It would have said "Army" and that would have been it. The "Special Forces" part is not on an ID card.
that what she did she have her military ID (stolen ID) post on her picture
True, but that may cause an increase in identity theft.
This should just be called "Idiots on Facebook"
My dad got scammed on that exact same truck and deal. Saying that they were getting a divorce and she needed to get rid of it asap. Watch out of these to good to be true prices.
it the same truck for real they have the same turck post in different part of the usa
yes 50 people are advertising the same truck that was sold 5 years ago
@@SgtJoeSmithFor $800...
Lol
Don’t blame the victims. Facebook & META need to be held accountable as they should go after scammers, but they don’t!
It's also the buyers fault too. Never buy anything sight unseen. You don't know who these people are.
@@pamelapope859 people buy all the time sight unseen. Most of us buy from photos and descriptions everyday. Other platforms have recourse for the buyer.
Iit isn't the fault of Facebook or Meta period. If you get scammed , its your fault period. Don't be stupid and get taken..
@@lutherwhitley y’all are a some heartless people. Facebook, Amazon, EBay make BILLIONS off of all of us and FB doesn’t care about running a trust worry site for its consumers. Maybe y’all are the dumbasses to be ok with scammers just scamming, and FB not providing consumer protection. Or maybe some of y’all are the scammers? Scamming is a crime, it’s theft!
@jamesthomas478 People don't want to take responsibility for their actions these days. Some else is always at fault.. If you get scammed, its no ones fault but your own period!!!
This same Toyota has been on FB marketplace for several years now. Anyone should know something that looks so good couldn't possibly be real.
There’s a 1969 Mach one that shows up from time to time with a price too good to be true also!
If the deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is. At somepoint comes personal responsibility, or Christmas.
It’s best to do business with people advertising that are local to you. Then you may meet the seller in person and see what you are buying. And request to see the ID of the person you are dealing with.
7 months later and that same truck and pictures is still on there and no way to report it. Why don't facebook take it off?
Can't you flag it... I would think that if everyone that sees it flags it... It would be removed...

Flagging on Facebook is useless most of the time
I’m sure he’s also heard the old saying, “their’s a sucker born every minute”. I got burn out of a weeks pay when I had my first job. I never forget how I felt. That wised me up at the young age of 17. I am 68 now, and tech savvy. I won’t let that ever happen to me again.
Hopefully! 😢
And Facebook has no algorithm to somebody posting the same ad 50 times in 50 cities with the same exact description and photos
I hate it when this happens to people. I hope the one responsible gets caught.
As the old saying goes, if it sounds too good to be true, it is!
Lesson learned - DO NOT SEND GIFT CARDS or cash. Ebay has it's faults but it does it protect buyers. Unfortunately he didnt go through ebay. Feel bad for the guy, sounds like just a guy down on luck but maybe something good was gonna happen.
This one will be going on for years. I see that scam everywhere on all craigslist websites.
Not ever buying anything on social media. Whenever you see something way below what it should cost, you are going to get got!
I was selling hubby's tires and rims from the old-school Pontiac. The buyer asked for my Zelle info... I jus didn't feel comfortable giving any info that's connected to my bank account. My problem is thinking that everyone is a scammer. I stated cash only. They declined. Im sure that was an episode of 2 people thinking the other is scamming when in reality we're both prolly jus a buyer and selling being overly cautious.
There is a zelle scam going around too! Look into it so you can warn others. You dodged a bullet.
I sold my car on Facebook. The buyer was so kind they even offered me more than advertised.
The $800 Toyota Tacoma must be a normal scam on FB Marketplace, and no telling how many cities. I had seen it many times here in Texas, although I wasn't looking for a vehicle. I did think the same thing this victim did, that if it was too good to be true, it must be. This Toyota was very nice and clean and well taken care of. Several days later I happened upon a warning about the ad from someone that got scammed. So, this is apparently working for some scammers. You have been warned.
Never send money always see the item in person if you can’t physically see or touch do not buy or try to buy
Facebook does nothing, so sad.
I think I saw that same Tacoma on FB marketplace😅 and even inquired about it. The car scams are pretty obvious! I told them I would come out and pick it up myself, and I think it had another selling platform involved too. FYI, used cars are pricy now, I learned after searching for used cars locally, test driving, calling local sellers, etc. no real deals, unless friend or relative selling😀
If it seems to good to be true, it probably is. It is sad that the world is full of criminals. Let the buyer beware.
Ive been in the army over 20 years and its first time seeing a CAC that has "special forces" printed on it.
NEVER send payment with prepaid cards! That's the first sign scam! If I can't see it, then I don't buy. I saw a couple of ads for RV trailers for cheap price. Basically said same thing. Getting deployed, spouse died, divorced or something, transportation already paid by someone who backed out, blah blah. Almost word for word on these scam.
$800.00 for a 2001 Tacoma, dude walked right into that one. And he used cash cards, come on dude the red flags were there all along. This is the oldest scam on the internet.
Omg !!!!!!! This person did the same scam on me and I almost bought into it and sent $1000 for the same Toyota Tacoma Trd. She said she was a sergeant in the United States Army and was living in a state where they did not have an army base and that’s how I figured it was a scam because I am former military. Holy shoot, I am so sorry you got scammed. People are terrible nowadays.. She tells people she’s on a medical team overseas..
Never send someone money you don’t know
I value the information you dropped on us. As somebody inquisitive about recuperation, I like that you show devices you use to examine an organization prior to coming to a choice. Lmaooooo seen that same truck selling for $1400 in CA marketplace. Same story too 😂😂😂
So many red flags its embarrassing. It's 2023 and anyone with a internet connection should know better by now.
Who sends gift cards as payments? That’s a giant red flag, that can’t be ignored.
“There is a sucker born every minute” $800 for a $8000 truck 👌🏼
If it is too good to be true, it is too good to be true.
It is more expensive to be poor than it is to be rich.
If it's too good to be true, it probably is. Just stay away. Not worth the headaches and loss of money.
Even eBay and Amazon has many listings selling items at crazy prices way below normal asking price even with their money back guarantee policy.
If the seller EVER asks for payment by gift cards or wire transfer, BIG red flags.
Got scammed yesterday out of 280 dollars. The guy seemingly had an active Facebook page and uploaded a SC license that matches the photo on his page. The address was 20 miles from my house, I paid for delivery, waited and then he went ghost. Come to find out the scammers are located in Florida but posting in SC.
The most boomer title ever written
I've been an active seller on Marketplace for the past 6 months. Scammers exist on both sides of the fence. My current block list has over 200 names on it and growing every day...
"Life's hard. It's even harder if you're dumb."
Let it go Al, I know the feeling I was scammed out of $13.600 dollars the same way, I also sent more money to the guy for shipping, after 4 years the guy keeps on e-mail me. No money No product.
That same scammer has been doing this for several years yet Facebook refuses to stop the person from doing it and more than likely it’s not even a woman.
Meet in person in a public setting and if dealing with cash have an unseen security team at the ready. Pretty simple...
Make a copy of the ad you responded to and plaster it all over the Facebook Sell pages as well as on Market Place with SCAMMER WARNING! Then post any proof and details you have ! I had a scammer get me here in Kentucky. I plastered that man's names he used, phone # and his Facebook Pages all over southeastern Kentucky. Had lots of thanks from the FB sell pages. Lucky for me my bank got my $$ back! Don't be a quiet victim! Get even!
Lesson learned… You have got to do your homework people!

You sound dumb.
This actually happened to me when I tried to buy a scooter and was scammed by a company out of China. Instead of getting my scooter, I got a pair of rayban sunglasses. Then they said I could get only a small amount of money back.
Don't buy anything unseen don't pay any money to anybody you haven't met and make sure they've been a Facebook user for a long period of time
This scam isn’t done by people in this country. The price is always $800 or $1200!
That CAC card wasn't stolen. It's fake.
If it's to good to be true it is...
That’s not a bargain certainly not.. That’s a Catch you scam..
This almost happened to me on ebay. Guy says I'll write y o u a check. I said cash only, never heard from him again
PayPal...
I can’t believe that guy was so naïve. And I am being polite.
Marketplace is the new home of scammers.
See thats why I don't even fool with it cause you don't know if their legit or not. The thought of meeting strange folks for items have me uneasy cause they could rob you or follow you its scary.
I need to sell this man a bridge
I feel bad for this guy, however if you do research and know your cars there's no way in hell you can buy a 2001 Toyota Tacoma for $800
Yeah I have the invoice and many months later I found the same travel trailer same person posting it for sale again is there anything I can do
heres a tip if you cant call the seller up go to their house look at the item 4 sale pay cash for it and drive back home with it DO NOT BUY IT.................
They needed 4 people to present this?!?
A Toyota Tacoma for $800😂😂😂😂😂
The $800 2001 truck i would have laughed at that
Really even more sad times and also with this video this would be glad about people quitting and deleting accounts there along with other social media accounts.
If it's TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE...then it isn't legit! 🤔 Scam the scammers right back...follow their sites and WARN others!🧐🙏 Also Facebook (like EBAY) need to be held accountable and SHUT these guyz down! They shouldn't be aloud to keep going back on these sites and scam other victims...they're not on their J.O.B!
Ebay has very buyer friendly policies; you can wrap up a deal on a car and not pay anything until you take delivery.
Payment on delivery, will work. You get the merchandize, they get the money!
I've seen these types of sellers and I always click off… it's sad how they take advantage of people.
I’m so happy I seen this. My dad was just about to send this scammer money
$800 for a TOYOTA truck. Any year. That alone screams it's a scam. Prepaid cards to pay? That's the biggest red flag.
cant believe someone actually fell for this?
😢 I'm so sorry had to be go through that because I remember the military cautioned us when I was in the military don't ever ever send a mate let anyone make a copy of your ID for some people you know we'll just say can I see your ID and then we'll say I'm going to make a copy of it but you know that's just the military I said don't ever let anybody make a copy of your ID that way people can pose as your as you or you know take a copy and try to make it into a military ID anyway thank you for sharing this
They should do 100% verifies for selling 🤦♀️
If gift cards are involved its a scam.
Most people would scroll past that, because they know it’s a scam. $800 for a $12,000 to $16,000 truck? C’mon man!
Major red flag, why would eBay involves in business transaction of Facebooks? Big companies do not collaborate with one another unless there’s prearrangement that is publicly announced.
Al, there's a soccer born every minute...you were an easy mark.
This breaks my heart... This guy is just a hard working guy.. and assholes take advantage of people.
