- This track started off so peaceful, almost eerily so. Really beautiful, ethereal tones from the vocals to the 'space' that the sound and production put you in. That was 'Parabol', setting up the message for the big hitter that is Parabola. Parabola has some really cool connecting riffs, with the same hypnotic note sequences from the intro. SOme crazy drumming and Maynard's intense vocals in the latter part of the track really set you up for a spiral. Love the intention behind the song, video, and artistic choices here to really make the listener get a real, vivid experience. I feel very much at peace after listening to this.

A+ job just for getting a video where the tracks flow together. Seen plenty of reactors hear just Parabol, talke for a few minutes, then hear Parabola and it ruins the transition. Appreciate your comentary too, keep it up

Yes it is bass and yes it's absolutely beautiful. It got flanger on, an effect pedal. The riff is played on the high d string. (Im talking about Parabol here)
Adam Jones, Tool's guitarist creates all their videos. Adam was a special effects artist in the film industry, he played a big part Jurassic Park for one!
Oh! Is it too late to retitle this Parabol/Parabola? Shame it's not catching more views. It's regularly my favorite Tool song. So much hope and purpose wrapped in an audio experience.

FYI - with the 2 songs together on the album they are 9:09 seconds exactly half way through (the vertex of the parabola) he sings ALIVE!!!!!!. For me this song Parabol/Parabola is a about a life - Parabol being the moment before birth, the heavy transition is birth. The vertex is the moment you achevie self awareness.
