    So, which proposition did the people of California vote for, does anybody know?

    Surprisingly good arguments from both sides. Personally I would agree more on the abolishment.

      The death penalty is a shame for the country! The death penalty turns the state into a murderer! The death penalty must be abolished. She must become a thing of the past.

    Robert Alton Harris was executed at San Quentin State Prison's East Wing, the Condemned Unit, while the original Condemned Row is located at the North Wing, 4th floor. He famously went out with the words, "You may be a king, or a street sweeper, but everyone dances with the Grim Reaper", in the gas chamber in April of 1992. I really believe that the Great State of California should have retained capital punishment, and that's what Scott Peterson should have got, a "night-night injection", as in lethal injection or the gas chamber. Peterson is a cold-blooded murderer! Now he's at Mule Creek State Prison for the remainder of his natural life, and he has time to reflect on what he did to Laci and Conor, his wife and unborn son. This, despite being Canadian.

    I might have an idea on how to fix this broken system. 1) speed up the appellate process as they suggested 2) have independent investigations done to ensure a convicts guilt 3) when it comes down to the actual execution, leave the execution of the sentence to a member of the victim's relatives. Let a relative do the actual killing of the convict. I believe that will keep the cost of death penalty cases down, it would ensure that those falsely convicted would be set free and since most people would not be capable of killing themselves, most inmates would have their sentences commuted to life without parole and there would only be a very limited number of inmates be actually put to death. Thus making both sides of the argument happy.

  • @ashleyc506
    @ashleyc506 2 роки тому

    Remember that speeding up the process will cost more tax payer dollars to achieve the same result as life without parole, the person dying in prison.

  • @ritalawrence9370
    @ritalawrence9370 4 роки тому +1

    Once they say life without the possibility of parole then they say they can get early discharge because they are no longer a threat. The best thing is to execute a murderer. It is a morally separate crime from all others. If the process stretches the process out over 20 years then it's time that can be spent knowing it could be just around the corner.

    Innocent people dying is solved by judicial reform not abolishment. Prosecuters and everyone involved in the case of getting the subject indicted needs to be held to account when they lie or twist facts and evidence.

    My mother was murdered in 1974, I was always for the death penalty. As I have gotten older I realized that a few of these people are actually innocent. This is horrible. I don't know where I stand anymore. It's conflicting, but I can see both sides of this debate. I just don't know.

    The death penalty is an invaluable tool that the U.S. does not use enough of and one that takes too long to execute, violent crime is on the rise and the death penalty is lowly used, violent criminals sit on death row for decades eating, breathing, and living while the victims have to go on for decades suffering, we asked for capital punishment so let's punish capital offenses!

    If a person is guilty of a crime that requires the death penalty, and is later PROVEN innocent how well is our JUSTICE SYSTEM right?, Cases have been over turned years later on our appeal's system, new evidence , DNA, testimony, the innocent project has over turned cases , how is our JUSTICE SYSTEM right if it has FLAW'S, a person is innocent until proven guilty, yet your guilty until proven innocent, our system is flawed, who has remorse when you send an innocent person to death, or find an innocent person guilty of a crime he or she is innocent for, you can't take back a death penalty, or bring that person back, why our appeal system is so lengthy, JUSTICE is a process and must be right.

      OBHSfolk but people will plead to life for a crime they didn't comment because they are scared to and if death. Watch some real trials where very little surcumsran evidence gets someone convicted by the heart strings of a jury. You would this couldn't happen. How could it.... We live in America. But it does. And it happens more than you would believe. You won't believe it. Most don't want to and refuse to believe it but it happens everyday. Not every case involves murder. But many people go to jail and person who are innocent
