    Unless someone came forward and confessed to every detail about killing lacey - I will never believe that Scott wasnt the killer. For gods sake, he told his girlfriend that she was dead. And then she is actually murdered. I mean, come on.

      Would not be the first person to refer to a spouse or significant other as being deceased while in an effort to cheat. Not the best argument I know but historically true. It is the least likely to not be believed by the new girlfriend. Unfortunate the circumstances developed the way they did. And yes I can see the coincidence making it look suspicious. But that alone doesn't close the door on the case. People have been cheating for centuries. As a woman ask yourself this. If you met a man. Would you hook up if he said he was in a bad relationship but still married with an expectant child, going through a divorce with an expectant child or moving on from the death of a loved spouse? I personally don't condone the cheating but that is a long way off from being a murderer.

      In a nationally televised interview, while she was still considered missing, he referred to her in the past tense - that's pretty weird. My gut says he's absolutely, positively guilty but it's a werid case - they have zero physical evidence - nothing. You look at the OJ case and they actually had considerable physical evidence - the victim's blood in his car, video of his vehicle leaving the scene, the gloves fell off because they were kinda tight (doh), he runs, he tells Cowling he's suicidal, etc....and the guy walks. This guy/weirdo is guilty, almost certainly, but I don't think it's provable in a court of law. Like I said, this is a weird one. They have no crime scene, no murder weapon, can't even prove absolutely he was the last person to see his wife....etc. He sure as hell looks guilty to me based upon a lot of circumstantial evidence. But can it be proven beyond a reasonable doubt enough to throw the guy in prison for life? That's an entirely different thing that most of the geniuses in this comments section fail to understand. And, again, bizarrely I strongly feel the guy is guilty. The reality is that some people get away with murder - it sucks, but it happens. It may end up happening in this case for a lack of hard evidence. The world will keep spinning, and, social media will have more crap to argue about for another 20 years.

    So they think two burglars murdered her and TOOK THE TIME to wrap her body in a tarp, weigh her down with cement weights, take a boat way out in the bay and then dump her body? Really?!?!? • @tcudahey9550
      @tcudahey9550 3 місяці тому +23

      Agreed. Stranger on stranger murders aren’t covered up to this degree; weighing the body down with cement and going out into a large body of water to dispose of and conceal the body. That’s too risky, he could be caught with the dead body or he could drown at sea. Or perhaps run into a police boat while attempting to dump the body.
      With stranger on stranger murders, the killer usually just leaves the body where it is and boogies out of there as fast as they can. The stranger killer knows that the body cannot be linked to him via other people because he doesn’t know the victim. When a killer knows his victim, he goes to great lengths to make sure that the body isn’t found.

My question is why would the “real killer” take the gigantic risk of doing that, knowing that law enforcement (and the public in general) were focusing on that area? "Scott telling Amber that he's in Paris somewhere and 'Oh my God, he's a liar, he's a cheat,' and therefore, apparently, it's a short off-ramp from there to 'He's a murderer?''"
    No. It's not that he lied to his mistress about where he was. It's a short off-ramp from him telling her that his wife was DEAD when nobody would've known that at the time - except for the person who murdered her - to 'He's a murderer.'

      Excellent point. Well stated. If he was not involved in Lacey’s murder, you think he would have told Amber the truth: That his wife is missing and he had nothing to do with it. But to assume she’s dead is what gives it away. Why would he assume that unless he knew for a fact that she was dead.

      The said environmental law firm's conclusion that Scott Peterson didn't commit the crimes he was convicted of is based on the fact that two of its attornies spent three days in his immediate presence interviewing/deposing him. It is a conclusion predicated upon much more than news reports and speculation.
      Additionally, law firms that traditionally practice outside of the scope of law related to a defendant's charges are customarily chosen to perform the deposition to avoid conflicts of interest. Ergo, an environmental law firm, was hired for Scott Peterson's deposition. And to know much about the law means understanding that no attorney has ever graduated from law school as a criminal law attorney, a divorce attorney, an immigration attorney, a real estate attorney, an environmental attorney, etc. The law is the law, and attornies are free to practice any facet of the law they wish to.
      So, the statement, "Oh gee, well, if an environmental law firm decided he's innocent, then he must be," is rooted in a misunderstanding of American jurisprudence, not to mention disordered hubris.

Without any solid evidence, he really did get away with murder - but, the fact that he was a terrible liar - he needs to stay in prison. According to the evidence, the break-in at the neighbors occurred 2 days AFTER Lacy went missing. The cherry on top is Scott disguising himself, having his brother's ID and $10k on him as he headed to the Mexican border ON THE DAY Lacy's body was ID'd.

    Scott's expression at 7:36 - 7:38 is saying all I need to know. Look into his eyes for those few seconds. His expression is deadly and sends shivers down my spine. He's sending a message to Diane Sawyer, and it's scary. Watch his body language at 7:14 when he says he told his wife about his affair. He closes his eyes and when he adds "in, um, early December" he closes them again. That's a sign of someone feeling discomfort with the topic being discussed and trying to block it out. His mouth is turning downward, showing displeasure. He's all of a sudden doing a lot with his mouth and it's telling me that what he's saying is a lie, but even more than that, this was probably the very moment things got out of hand and he's seeing it all play out in his mind as he speaks, which is making him uncomfortable. He is absolutely, 100% guilty. What I find really bizarre is that he'd only been seeing Amber for three weeks and that was enough time for him to decide to become a killer and take not only his beautiful wife's life, but his first child's as well. That's the most exciting time in a lot of people's lives; the birth of their first child. I don't understand why he didn't just get a divorce if he was unhappy. Did he really think he'd get away with it? That's the deluded confidence of a psychopath. Jon Buehler stated that Scott had "incredible emotional control. One of the best I've ever seen in my life". He also said Scott was aloof, which means he made no connections on a human level. He only affected emotion when it was useful to him, such as when telling Amber it was his first holiday without his wife (who was still alive at the time, I believe). This is all sociopathic behavior. I would be shocked if there is to be any evidence that could prove to me that he is not guilty of these horrific crimes.
