Some of the best and most chilling lyrics ever written. And no they are not about war but about dying from a drugs overdose. Who would want to do drugs after listening to this. What a warning. Fantastic track.
You are right this song is a warning about heroine, It tells the whole story of a junkies journey from the high of the first time to the last one at deaths door. It was inspired in part though from a lot of vets coming back from Vietnam addicted to heroin.
Nah, analog sounds a thousand times better than digital. These are actual musicians playing actual music equipment and instruments. Dude, in the black outfit, gets it.
How true. It really sounds like a bunch of guys playing together, because that was what it was. Not that common today.. All down to the pc metronome and pitch corrected, and it's really a shame. Less so in the metal scene but it happens there too.
This is one of my favorite Sabbath songs 🎵. Almost all of their songs have some heavy meaning. Ozzy is Ozzy, Tony Iomi is the greatest riff master, Gezzer Butler is the bass player and primary lyricist and Bill Ward is a drumming God
Dude in white complaining about sound quality? It was recorded in 1970! The other guy, he is cool, he gets it. And for God's sake, listen to the lyrics. Vietnam Vet, comes home with a raging Heroin addiction! Right, he died from heroin, not the war, but, it was the war that pushed him to heroin! It's about as Real as it gets.
Don't forget lads this came out in 1970 and war pigs came out in 1969! War pigs is very good live by the way, as all their old stuff is. It's less boring and less verse chorus verse chorus verse chorus verse chorus etc 🙃
In a world where everything is a 30sec tic tok video its nice to slow down. The song is about veterans using heroin to self medicate from the horror of war they experienced.
Black Sabbath where always anti war, anti drugs. This song is about US Service Men in Vietnam becoming hooked on cheap Heroin. It's not about the cords...it's about the body bags.
It's about dope man, and it's not "a long ass song" it's just longer than the 3 minute sound bites your used too. If you go back and really listen to it,there are a good three different songs in there. You hear shit like "oh,metal is for dummies" but people with higher IQ's and larger vocabularies make up a majority of metalheads,so there ya go.
It's not a war song but a war-torn song. Lyrically, anyway. The musicianship (remember, this was recorded in 1969) was pretty exciting/revolutionary for the time and for some reason I wish music today sounded as raw as it did back then. Pop/dance music? Okay, that shit needs to be overproduced for the sake of sleek night clubbing. But stoner rock and blues is better for the mistakes and muddy waters that I, as a listener, need to sift thru. All part of the fun and fascination. Just my opinion.
The guy on the right is meh 😑 on everything!! I heard him call Bill Ward drum fills “ basic” 😂. I didn’t even bother finishing the reaction once I figured out who he was.
who is he?? Thing is I understand JB, he's coming from watching and emulating the Gospel Chops scene that is very overly unnecessarily technical and competitive, now not saying Bill Wards fills are not tech but lean more to function for the song, every hit seems very purposeful for the song, and JB has recently come to realize that Rock drumming has to have that element weather its basic or technical.
Not my favourite black sabbath song for sure, there are definitely better one’s like War Pigs, heaven and hell etc if you want to hear more; there’s also the era where Ronnie James Dio replaced Ozzy as the lead singer & added his own style & flare to the band. Overall a legendary band that pretty much created the genre of Metal or at least were one of the biggest influences. But I’m here today to ask for some PORCUPINE TREE if you would please, good sirs!

@@Blaze_1961 exactly
It's about coming home from nam and dying of overdose
@@Blaze_1961yeah it's about "shell shock"
Dude on the left gets it. Guy in the white shirt looks exactly like the type of guy I'd be bored to tears with

Haha and he called it a really long song
Haha. Gets what?
Dude in white is always a borderline douchebag.
When listening to Sabbath one must also follow the lyrics as Sabbath is all about warnings, calls to action and good vs evil.
This is one of my favorite Sabbath songs 🎵. Almost all of their songs have some heavy meaning. Ozzy is Ozzy, Tony Iomi is the greatest riff master, Gezzer Butler is the bass player and primary lyricist and Bill Ward is a drumming God
Probably my favorite Sabbath track. Bill Ward's drumming was just out of this world!
Well guys, they didn’t get it is about Heroin addiction and PTSD. Didn’t blow their hair back. To each his own…
People coming back from war addicted to drugs listen to the words

War Pigs & Hand of Doom are on the Paranoid album...released in September 1970.
You guys are some real deep thinkers. So eloquent are your thoughts.😂 "It's a really long song." Masters of the English speaking community.
Sabbath told it like it is. No beating around the bush. Not for ADD generation. Not a three minute cute band

This song is awesome!

It’s because the music can get too complex for normies to keep up.
Masters of the English speaking world.😂
Was my whole freshman year of high school. Just before Nirvana. 90s was rad
The heroin addict the song is about also wants to get off the ride...but he can't. Cheers to you for giving it a listen.
Does dude like anything?!

Black Sabbath 1968-eternity🤘
He's a drummer and doesn't appreciate Bill Ward's drumming... ok...
You don't want the Vessel with the Pestle.....You want the Chalace from the Palace. That's where you'll find the Pellet with the Poison.
Gotta do symptom of the universe by them
recorded 1970 on a 16 track
SWEET LEAF NEXT!!!!!!
IT'S ABOUT DOING H, THE BAT THAT HE THOUGHT IT WAS FAKE......😮😮
that wad of wires on the table looks like a cat
Two dudes look incredibly board....
You guys are like in the matrix... lol come on you feel it.. no?
Try the band Mr Bungle -
My Ass is on Fire 😅
HELL YEAH!
React to heaven and hell
Black Sabbath
And you’ll earn a sub
Here I’ll do the reaction for you. “Song too long. Me like short song.”
Dude on the right is the most annoying type of critic. He's the most boring guy in every video.
