I beg to differ. The salvoes of the first 5 minutes of the game were all pretty badly aimed. In fact, worse dispersion would have probably resulted in more hits.
That's exactly what I was thinking... aiming for a broadside when the ship was clearly turning, aiming to the rear when a ship was clearly moving forward, and giving too much lead by about half a ship's length on the very first salvo. Not that the dispersion was great, but clearly player error.
I was thinking the same.
I'm not judging the guy (I'm an abysmal Nagato player myself), but he's just not accounting for the enemies turning away from his salvos. Just look at 4:07

@@landochabod7 Don't worry, you got it right. I'm unicum BB / CA / CL player, and indeed this dude's aim was abysmal, especially at the start. Too much lead, wrong turn predictions, over or under aiming... Nagato is still decently accurate BB and if you know how to lead / aim, you should get constant hits.
EDIT: looking at this dude's stats, he is obviously a new player and has a lot of room to improve, so we should not judge him too harshly XD
I think the player getting as much damage and as many kills had less to do with his actual skill and more to do with bad players on the other team. All his kills were pretty much either dead in the water or at best moving slowly. And all at in wows terms were point blank range.
I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say he was an inexperienced player still learning the ropes
Not all of Mythic Fool's troubles in the early part of the game were his guns' fault...there were quite a few salvoes that were fired that were just really bad shots...it took time for him to get warmed up and was definitely not all the fault of Nagato being inaccurate.
First game of the night and hadn't played in a hot while. And I've never claimed to be a great player.

The Kii's are a bit different, in that they are long-ranged, so more suitable for kiting or gambling. The 3 Germans, on the other hand, use theirs for jousting. The Mutsu's ... for having the last word in a joust, usually, after she has already been sunk. :)

"ACTUALLY JINGLES" you have to play some destroyers more often again jingles and be slow or stopped to realise that Last stand barely works on ANYTHING now, it works if you are moving at 50% or higher speed and works for the rudder but no longer helps with acceleration if you are completely halted at time of engine knock out

The most relevant thing is the team doesn't melt. Five minutes in, he's lost only two teammates. The New Mexico doesn't run away, but pins the enemy down at A. The thing with IJN is, you need time to be relevant. If your team melts, you die. If your team steamrolls, you get pitiful damage. If your team does what it did here (apart from the end when the two ships hide and the DD suicides), you actually can rack up great numbers.
I've spent the whole week taking my poor 37% WR Fuso up to 50%. It's been horrible, farming krakens and 100k+ games that end up in losses. Nagato is more reliable and faster. It actually stands a chance even versus T9 players, should your team not be too bad or unlucky...
Just to mythbust what Jingles mentioned today and I hear every so often: There is no separate vertical dispersion value. Vertical dispersion is depending on the horizontal dispersion and the shell trajectory (determined by shell velocity, weight and drag). Slower shells will have less vertical dispersion, faster shells will have more. So in context of this video, there is no way to buff Nagatos vertical dispersion without either a) changing the shell trajectory (making the shells slower; would not really be a buff imo) which WG has never done before or b) buff its horizontal dispersion either directly or by a sigma increase.

"What is it with German battleships and their torpedoes?" It's very simple, Jingles. These ships are geared for torpedo attacks. The primary answer is "guns". You can't reliably kill with these guns. Scharnhorst 's 11" guns shoot fast, and at medium to close range, are accurate enough, but AP bounces like silicon boobies on a trampoline, and with Gneisenau, her 15" guns hit hard, when in medium to close range, and even then, I've seen one shell land in front of a cruiser and the other shell land behind the cruiser, fired from the same turret. Also, you only get six of them. Torpedoes at 4 km or less, hardly miss, and make for a great brawling option. The secondary answer is "turtleback armor". Getting a critical strike to the citadel is greatly diminished and with proper angling, most shells can be bounced. However, most captains fail to understand that torpedoes should be thought of as a "situational" weapon, as Flamu puts it. It should never be the primary means of attack.

I always angle my German BBs as much as possible even when I use my torpedoes. I don't know why some people just don't understand "turtleback" doesn't guarantee damage immunity.
For some reason I imagine all the Captains as having a bad german accents. And then going complete rage mode. Even when people are actually doing what they are supposed to be doing. Even if they are enemy ships. ALL GERMANS... And I'm not german.

And let me remind you my aged friend....... it has to be closed beta when the USN BB line was added because I literally started playing on day 1 of the OBT, and it had full lines of USN and IJN. (all 4 classes)
Likewise, I started CBT and we had US BBs, so it must have been Alpha they were added.

it was all about in one day what _Tier_ of ship you were spending money on free EXP that isn't free to skip the lines to have 8+ or nothing to really speak of other maybe than if at tier 6 with T7 being a blocker with T5 not that great either, with all the nerfs to T4 and below...... yeah, fun times.
(for a game that was not just GOOD but even could have been an all time great)

Happy Birthday from a guy who passed 50 a few years back. I've been playing the weekly scenarios a LOT recently. If I happen to die early in the fight, I hang around and feed intel on what is coming to the team. Sometimes I realize that they have their game on enough for me to not really be useful in some cases. Having a lot of fun learning 'how to "insert ship type"', well except carriers at this point.
I mean, most of those early shots were just poorly aimed, plain and simple.

What it definitely needs tho is either a Speed and Manoevrability Buff OR you give it Armor that actually works.
This is the only Battleship above T4 that i have EVER gotten my Engine/Rudder kncoked out in by Artillery Fire.
Thats right, you can cripple the Nagato by aiming at her Aft-end, THAT is why she´s bad, i got rid of her REAL Quick.

A common symptom of the coronavirus...
My relationship with the Nagato is complicated. On the one hand, there was the game where my first 2 salvoes were both devastating strikes on targets nearly 20km away. On the other, there's the time I fired at a Gneisenau that had beached broadside to me less than 10 km away and EVERY. SINGLE. SHELL. MISSED.
