I prefer the sun myself, but you are right about everything else. The reason that I said what I said about the sun is that there is actually a day-night cycle that is going on in the game. Round 1 is happening in the afternoon. Round 2 is happening at sunset, and maybe the early evening. Round 3 is happening later that same night. Round 4 is going through the day through an industrial district, and presumably, through much of the night as well. Round 5 is happening early in the morning, possibly at sunrise, hence the sun being in the last part of that Round in the game. Round 6 is happening in the daytime.

Mas mesmo assim adoro ver as pessoas se desafiando provando o improvável que é sim possível portar este game com uma qualidade absurda em um console de mais de 30 anos. A música os gráficos a jogabilidade é inacreditável, incrível o que pode fazer com a tecnologia de hoje. I really like the animations in the background. These animations where not there even in the original arcade. The city becomes alive with these. The music is really awesome. You have done a wonderful job porting the game. Gongrats!!!

This stage would probably kick my ass! 😅 Looks awesome as always. I love the little details of the city lights in the background (colour cycling?). I do hope it's possible to add a bit of animation or movement to the water. That's the only thing I see which could maybe use improvement. The rest is perfection. Amazing work! 👍
Best thing about this is that you used the filtered Mega Drive Model 1 audio sound according to your video description, that's exactly how I play my games on RetroArch, with my crt shader presets added on top.

Wow. Hit detection, color palette and punch speed is better than the Sega CD version; brining it closer to the arcade game. This port also blows any SNES version of this game (official or fan upgrade) out of the water. If only this effort was put into porting this game on the MD back then; how things would have turned out different.
This is what I’ve been waiting for to see since several years ago!!! It’s been about 2 and a half years ago since the development started, and I have grown a lot as this project makes progress(actually I’m still under 20)… This port must be one of my greatest memories of my life! Incredible work. Love the additional animation in the background and parallax in the foreground. The lamp posts, undamaged in a derelict city I always thought they should be vandalised like everything else. Any chance throwing an enemy could break them and leave a sparking mess behind?
I think this is great stuff, and shows how much a Mega Drive was capable. I thank you so much for showing such a wonderful project. I wonder, if this project continues to completion, would you include behavior more akin to the arcade version that include, but not limited to: 1. Faster player attacks. 2. Enemy characters J/Two P being able to move in quickly to attack your back? 3. Tricks like Alchemy Keep up the great work. Thank You
The player isn't attacking as fast because I don't like using turbo. But I'll implement everything I can to make it a good port, including better enemy AI approaching arcade fidelity.

There's something magical about seeing a near-perfect version of Final Fight running on the SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive. Sega could have pushed this little beast another two or three years, skipped the 32x and Saturn drama by investing in a large format from Catriges, and then jumped in with the Dreamcast.* sigh* # RoadNotTaken I'm tremendously excited to see the Final version. Wonderful work! Bravo!

However, if they ONLY produce 12 MB ROM cartridges, with no variance, there's a strong possibility of getting a price break on manufacturing and pricing Genesis games competitively with the Nintendo 64. It's just a fun hypothetical.

The way that technology gets cheaper is when someone decides that it is worth the cost to go after new technology, they successfully prove their case with their argument with a good video game, and then everyone wants that proverbial piece of the pie. This is how things work in the real world.
Esse jogo tá ficando ,maravilhoso no megadrive e uma das coisas que eu mais curtí até agora são as músicas. Esse console tem vários timbres parecidos com os do arcade. Té lindo demais isso. Tem um bom número de personagens na tela ao mesmo tempo e... dá pra jogar com duas pessoas, diferente da versão de Snes. Só tem uma coisa e que talvez seja super easy de vocês revolverem(não que seja um problema). Eu acho que o El Gado e o Hollywood estão demorando mais que o normal deles pra se levantarem do chão depois de uma queda. No fliperama pra mim era um desafio lidar com eles justamente por conta desse timming mais rápido pra se recuperarem. Espero não ter dito nenhuma bobagem aqui e continuo seguindo o trabalho muito feliz com esse resultado que vêm sido mostrado(As luzes nesse cenário estão um espetaculo, principalmente porque um desses efeitos parece simular a movimentação de carros, melhor do que o efeito de iluminação mostrado no arcade). Parabéns a todos os envolvidos nessa obra prima.

@@MXRetroDev , I got to agree with Joel, you've done a pretty d a m n good job with what you've got so far, and, even making it bare bones, you'd still have a solid port of the game, but you said that you plan on adding more than just merely the base game to this port of the game as well, so thanks for that, man. Also, if you think that Capcom doesn't do reissues of their old titles, they actually had reissues of Street Fighter II and Mega/Rock Man X on the SNES/NSFC on actual official cartridges, so don't think that you won't be noticed by Capcom by your efforts. Hopefully, you can talk to them about releasing the port of their game to the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, and then make one for the SNES/NSFC as well...call it something like, say, Final Fight Deluxe Edition, and then add more Rounds, Bosses, Enemies, Items, and OSTs as well. Maybe you could make a new Chinatown stage and get the CPS-1 version of the Round 1 (Slums) OST from Mighty Final Fight as its OST, then maybe add an Old Town after that place, along with its CPS-1 version OST to be added to that stage as well? I got ideas if you need them on here. You could make that version of Final Fight for the SNES/NSFC, then add the things that are in your current port of Final Fight for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive to it, and then port Final Fight Deluxe Edition to the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive.

I’ve never been a huge fan of Final Fight, or it’s music, or any of its ports…the graphics and characters are cool enough, but I always felt the gameplay was a didn’t jive with me like SOR et al. but this is so impressive that I absolutely have to play it. Looks insanely cool.

Awesome work! As an OpenBOR dev here, if you can adjust a little bit of the position of Guy's last frame when attacking with the sword and pipe a little forward, it might look better, because currently looks like he is sliding back a little bit when attacking. Other than that, I am so impressed with this port, it's amazing.
THIS could easily pass as a genuine arcade game. I would be great if people could do back and do some more Capcom classics for the system. Maybe even a rework of Strider (get rid of the spite flicker and slowdown etc). All credit for bringing this to the Megadrive and like THIS! It's brilliant.
Even Amaru also youtube channel was working on a Ghouls & Ghost revision the changes his made ..chef kiss.. he even shows how he use the Vram. Just look Ghost & Ghoul Megadrive remake.

As janelas piscam de propósito, imagine uma balada rolando lá. A intenção era mostrar a cidade viva e festiva, se procurar verá outros prédios assim também.
I would initially like to thank you for the work you are putting into the development of this gem of a video game for the Mega Drive. I noticed that in the final part of stage 5 in the arcade game the sunrise is bigger in the surroundings of the Statue of Liberty. Also, the sunrise is also more elongated, reaching almost to the city. Would there be any possibility to adjust this to make it look a bit more like the arcade game? I ask this as I know that the Mega Drive's vram may be at its limit and it may not be possible to make this adjustment.
I did this way for personal choice only. There are many things strange in the original pixelart that I did not totally agree with and decided to change.
The SNES port was rushed, though. It does not represent the best the SNES can do. If you compared the development time of both ports, that'd paint a different picture.

I’ve never been a huge fan of Final Fight, or it’s music, or any of its ports…the graphics and characters are cool enough, but I always felt the gameplay was a didn’t jive with me like SOR et al. but this is so impressive that I absolutely have to play it. Looks insanely cool.

As an OpenBOR dev here, if you can adjust a little bit of the position of Guy's last frame when attacking with the sword and pipe a little forward, it might look better, because currently looks like he is sliding back a little bit when attacking. Other than that, I am so impressed with this port, it's amazing.

That Mega drive FM chip translates the soundtrack so well. It sounds like the FM chip of capcom boards but less ear piercing.
THIS could easily pass as a genuine arcade game. I would be great if people could do back and do some more Capcom classics for the system. Maybe even a rework of Strider (get rid of the spite flicker and slowdown etc). All credit for bringing this to the Megadrive and like THIS! It's brilliant.
Even Amaru also youtube channel was working on a Ghouls & Ghost revision the changes his made ..chef kiss.. he even shows how he use the Vram.
Just look Ghost & Ghoul Megadrive remake.

Opa! Mesmo sabendo que na versão original a iluminação do poste que aparece na frente do cenário era verde (aos 56 no MD), esta adaptação que vocês fizeram para azul/amarelo/branco ficou simplesmente perfeita!! Parabéns!!
Realmente tiveram algumas coisas que fiquei entre dar um toque pessoal e ao mesmo trabalhar com algumas limitações.
@@MXRetroDev , well, to be honest, real life street lights tend to have blue, white, or orange tints to them, unless they are bio-luminescent fungi, and/or algae that make such lights, but such things were simply not thought of in the early 1990s.
Curti a animação do poste e da cidade ao fundo, a sombra do poste e a camada frontal que não existe no original. Faltou só o som do doguinho latindo kkk. Senti muitas diferenças no comportamento do abigail, mas tá top demais.

Realmente este juego es una joya 💎. El trabajo extraordinario que han hecho para la versión de Mega Drive/Genesis eso me hace pensar la capacidad que podía llegar el procesador Motorola 68.000 de la consola. Ahora solo queda esperar cuando salga este juego clásico. Buen trabajo 👍

As janelas piscam de propósito, imagine uma balada rolando lá. A intenção era mostrar a cidade viva e festiva, se procurar verá outros prédios assim também.

I would initially like to thank you for the work you are putting into the development of this gem of a video game for the Mega Drive.
I noticed that in the final part of stage 5 in the arcade game the sunrise is bigger in the surroundings of the Statue of Liberty. Also, the sunrise is also more elongated, reaching almost to the city. Would there be any possibility to adjust this to make it look a bit more like the arcade game? I ask this as I know that the Mega Drive's vram may be at its limit and it may not be possible to make this adjustment.
I did this way for personal choice only. There are many things strange in the original pixelart that I did not totally agree with and decided to change.

The SNES port was rushed, though. It does not represent the best the SNES can do. If you compared the development time of both ports, that'd paint a different picture.

Jogo do Snes de 1991, 8 megabit apenas, esse jogo do Mega é de agora com ferramentas muito mais avançadas e conhecimento da máquina, e deve ter no mínimo uns 60 Megabit, não tem comparação!
