  • @GunsandGuava

    A small cone filter with metal top makes it sound a lot better than open tube. Trust me I did it today and listened to it both ways. With filter it sounds so much better. Like I said, I used a small filter similar to a cold air intake filter. It spanks !

      How do you attach the breather ? Is there some sort of coupler you need ?

    • @GooseAutoWorks
      @GooseAutoWorks  Рік тому

      Usually it’s just a hose clamp. In this case you’d probably want a breather that would fit over the diverter valve nub.

    Those are NOT turbo silencers, they help spin the incoming air for faster spooling, some dingbact said the are silencers and everyone with a UA-cam channel jumps on it spreading the bs

    • @GooseAutoWorks
      @GooseAutoWorks  Рік тому +20

      Yep. I think they actually call them vortex generators. But a lot of people have reported being able to hear the turbos more, and I’ve had no adverse consequences. No doubt less turbulent air flow, while better for efficiency, also decreases NVH, but up to the individual user if the juice is worth the squeeze so to speak. Plus it’s easily 100% reversible.

      The hot side compressor is the only place anything matters. If you think swirling inlet air before it hits the cold side wheel does anything you're mistaken.

    • @jaybizz67
      @jaybizz67 10 місяців тому +2

      They are for nvh and are actually aimed counter the rotation of the turbos. So whatever they call them.

    • @stevemoerman4016
      @stevemoerman4016 8 місяців тому +5

      They do help spool faster, but by STOPPING air rotation, so that the turbulence is eliminated where the intake splits. Otherwise the vortexes from the turbos would travel backwards up to the intake split and then turbulence and resistance would result.

    • @tyheitman4167

      its because after 2017 ford used bigger turbos that spool slower which is why the newer ones dont whistle

      I know some people could never hear theirs. I always could, and can hear them better now. And then the VTA is an obvious difference. But none of it’s meant to be too serious. Just an easy mod for fun. Sorry it didn’t work out for you, but thanks for watching.

    It is meant to remove early stage turbo lag. But you don't need an expensive anything. The rubber foot on some old Crutches and a zip tie do the same thing.

    • @GooseAutoWorks

      No. The “silencers” are basically just for NVH. The VTA just makes the diverter valve act as a blow off valve. My fuel economy hasn’t changed at all and it sounds a lot better in my opinion.

      I think it’s pretty much the same. The layout may be slightly different, but the method carries over. It doesn’t improve anything per se. • @GooseAutoWorks
      @GooseAutoWorks  Рік тому +6

      Hello. So those systems don’t really overlap. My catch cans still collect oil blow by. The plumbing removed from the diverter valve puts it back into the intake pre-throttle body. The lines that carry oil blow by come from the valve cover and crankcase.

    I’m probably over thinking this. But….. by unhooking the dump valve to the intake, in my theory it should over all allow cooler intake air by not recirculating and or releasing the hotter pressurized air into the intake. Most likely minimal if any difference, just my thought.
