Ford makes them from recycled aluminum beer cans and I guess recycled 2 liter empty drink bottles for the oil pan can you say ( CHEAP CHEAP ) made high dollar junk rear doors that might work or might not work it all depends on the cold weather I would get rid of that high-dollar junk !!!
@@AAAstroPhotography I installed a dual filter cold air intake with separate tubes etc took out the diffusers and it actually killed my low end acceleration . not even sure why so i went back to a merge pipe cold air intake with the twirlers diffusers back in.

Informal fuel economy test with the vortex tornado thingy's in the intake: 2014 F-150 w/ 3.5 eco. Drove about 500 miles / 7 hrs. with them in one way on a road trip. Then removed them before returning home. According to the truck I averaged 18.4 mpg with them in. 18.7 mpg after "delete." No info as far as power but throttle response does seem to improve, but just barely and only based on my opinion. Also definitely can hear the turbos better, but again, only slightly. Hope someone else finds this interesting / informative! Thanks for the great video.
Idk why, but my 14 eco boost f150 only gets about 14 if I stay out the throttle, however it is 4x4 so idk if thsts got anything to do with mileage, never really pay attention to the mileage till I'm on a road trip but it's also got a 36 gallon fuel tank on it
@@insertnamehere4143 I think we have the same setup! I did the same trip recently and only averaged 16 miles per. Driving conditions are a huge variable. Anytime you're in boost your millage will take a hit. (Not as fun to drive a boosted engine w/o boost tho!) Things like traffic, hills, big wheels, definitely affect millage. Maybe worth it to make sure your rotors aren't warped as well, those suckers get hot. That being said, there doesn't seem to be consistent reasons why the mpg's vary so much from truck to truck. There's quite the rabbit hole to go down looking for answers haha. Recently I've been debating removing the intake and cleaning the valves. Thanks for the reply!
When I had a 14 F150 ecoboost. I made a larger intake area in the dirty side (bottom) of airbox, enlargened the intake hole towards the front of truck for cold air. Then I removed the factory boat anchor muffler and resonator and replaced it with a performance flowmaster style chambered muffler. Truck dyno'd at 392 hp and 428 torque at the rear wheels. I was very happy with those simple budget mods. I now have a 2020 ecoboost F150 which I will do the same mods to and see if it is better than the 2014 was back then.
Allrightythen !! I'll just look for a late model 90'S Ford F150 with the 5.0/302 and run dual exhaust ! There are some out there that still have decent mileage, and are 8n great shape that someone's Grandparetns passed away, and see this old truck as a bothersome gas burner that doesn't comply with their environmentally friendly Prius, Volt, Leaf, EFTC. !!!! There's a fairly simple was to quantify and differences in power... A dyno. If the difference is less than a few HP, that's attributable to margin of error.
I removed my rings, drove for a few weeks and ended up getting a check engine light. " low turbo boost pressure" left and right. Re- installed the rings... no other issues. I believe the ford engineers know what they are doing when designing the intake system.
I had the low boost code setting quite a bit... Tried injector cleaners... Fuel treatments etc...Nothing... Codes still set...Then Removed the intake rings... Codes have not been set since... 2015 Lincoln Navigator 3.5 EcoBoost...

If you get exhaust dumped out on the side it sounds way better. I had it just deleted and yes it was way to loud and too much drone. For $146 I had muffler shop run 3" and dumped it in front of passenger rear wheel. I took stock chrome tip and put it on the end. Looks good now and sounds way better
I enjoy the VTA mod myself. It is cool, I have been running it about a month now that way and I still enjoy it. If I don’t wanna hear it, I just go back to enjoying the radio.
I did the VTA mod as well but I just unhooked the tube at the bottom and left it connected at the top. That way if I don’t want to hear it I can just take the plug out of the tube and connect it back in about 10 seconds
I fell out of my chair laughing at the Rockwell Encabulator intro! Thinking of doing some work on my ‘13 boost. Not sure Id do any of these. Probably gonna start with an ECU tuner.
So any ordinary person who is an engineer who understands fluid Dynamics understands that in some case those things in the pipes are essentially vortex generators, allowing the air to flow less encumbered. Same concept as sandpaper shark shin allowing them to have lower drag whilst swimming through the water.
I did take the silencers/ diffusers off. The turbos were a little bit louder and I did see around a 1.5 increase in average mpg. Call ford performance and they say they are just there for noise. And the debate goes on.
@@darkills1384 The reasons for them can vary between turbo sound suppression to spinning the air so that the compressor can "take more" air. To answer you though, no you wont notice a single difference, except maybe some more turbo spool noise.
The v6 sound actually kinda grew on me. If it wasn’t turbocharged it would sound like crap but I ran a straight pipe on my 2011 and it really wasn’t too bad
If you remove the intake silencers, be sure to replace the hydothermic encapsulator before doing so. This is very important and catastrophic damage will result if you don't. The good news is that it's very easy and inexpensive to do. All you need to replace the HE is a left-handed screwdriver and the job takes only about one minute.
I removed my intake silencers and love it. Sounds awesome but I can barely hear it over my borla atak exhaust lmao. But I personally have seen gas mileage go up. On a good day, I can pull 20 hwy with the 2.7, leveled on 20x10s and 35s
When my vortexes merge, I get a thunderstorm in my intake. Sometimes tornadoes. Makes the truck burn at a more efficient stoichiometric ratio, and I gain 2,000 hp. Facts
I know the same feeling with the exhaust delete. I got a coupling rust away from Michigan salt and slamming the gas makes it sound like hot garbage. Ecoboosts need some pipping.
As a teenager I’d do all these mods but with the exhaust put pipe back to the tip and maybe replace the tip just to have all the up the sound of the exhaust and turbos and blow off valve so pretty cool video

Need to see what you did to the exhaust. I have a 2012 Ecoboost and put a K&N Cold Air Intake in it over a year a go. Definitely can hear a difference. Only thing I have had to replace was the throttle body. Gas mileage is ridiculous. Drove from just west of Rochester NY to Raleigh NC on a single tank of gas...660 miles.
careful with an oiled gause filter, I wore the tips of the turbo vanes off my powerstroke by denying it oil replenishment often enough. Takes alot more maintenence than dry.
I still can't believe that you were driving around with two big unfiltered vaculum cleaner's sucking in contaminated air to the internals of that expensive engine because you want to hear your turbos.
If you are in water, you won't want the guts of that valve being exposed. Leave the hose connected to the bov and zip tie the hose up top somewhere. Heck, attach a horn to it and it will sound like a fart everytime you let off.

I just bought 2013 f150 kingranch and I added a Thornton stage 3 chip. What would you add that would give some big Horsepower that would cost $800 or less? I'm talking CLYDESDALE HORSEPOWER, there are too many companies that say their products add big horsepower but after I put time in adding their product their is no noticeable difference. I would like to add something that makes the truck perform like it has some balls instead of testicular cancer.
With the blow off cap aren’t there two turbos on the 3.5 eco boost. If there are two would you cap both. I saw a pretty nice intake from afe that had each turbo intake tube separated to eliminate the turbulence issue in the stock intake.
I have had them all the 5.7 Hemi is nothing to frown at but the Ecoboost is not modified it is designed to e what it is and if you put the Trinity Diablo T1000 83 tune in it, It will wax almost anything anyone has built I know cause I have that tune and I have yet to be touched
I absolutely love my ecoboost 3.5 lariat... BUT! It is going to stay as i bought it... quiet. It is quick, capable, tows like a dream. But a v6 turbo truck will never have the sound of a big v8. Thats ok because i bought it for its purpose... to use it as a truck. I may tune it mildly at some point but the exhaust will stay as is.

My 18 3.5 has the silencer rings removed since I bought it new and no problems, just more whistle.
That’s the system not meeting “factory performance” If tunes properly it wouldn’t be the issue cause the engine is taught to work that way.

I did a custom 3" resonator and Flow FX muffler pre-axle side exit, sounds very nice off the 3" SPD pipe.
