    Oh, I didn't realize I just finished watching all of your videos. I just discovered your channel about last week and I enjoyed every single one if it. You're one of my favorites now along with randomgaminginhd. Keep up the good work, man!

    Best i ever made my old Optiplex 9020 was using an i7-4790, 16gb ddr3, zotac 1070 mini, 500w corsair psu + adapter and an ssd - all in came to £180, it was called the Ultraplex :)

    I'd look into upgrading the powersupply.
    (There are adapters for atx 24 pin too the proprietary cables of the Dell.)
    Though it comes with a bit of a stupid requirement because Dell things.
    Dell for the sake of making sure it's proprietary, uses plenty of the 3.3v & 5v rails, 5v is rated at 25a & 3.3v at 17a.
    You need too meet the stock 290w powersupply's 5v rail & 3.3v rail on any powersupply upgrade for it too start at all.
    So something like a 850w powersupply is needed unless you find a bit older powersupply used with strong 5v & 3.3v power rails.
    That's still decent on the 12v rails as well too handle gpu upgrades, like minimum 432w on the 12v rail should be enough for most sensible options in this system.
    Unless you maybe short the 24 pin green to a ground pin on a second powersupply outside the pc specifically for powering the gpu only, can do that for a video actually if you'd like too do a half jank solution like that.
    Then adding a faster gpu like a used rtx 2060, 1660 super or similar equivalent on amd's graphics cards.
    Changing ram too 2x8 gb ramsticks for taking advantage of dual channel might help & i don't know if it takes the socket 1150 xeons but there you have some cheap options as well for cpu upgrades.
    Otherwise i wouldn't really bother pushing this platform further as you can probably get a am4 motherboard & ryzen 3600 really cheap used by now.
    Unless you happen too find like an I7 4770k In a broken pc in a junkyard like i did for free, runs at 4 ghz in a msi b85m-e45 motherboard after i updated the bios too enable overclocking on it.

    Great job. I love the aesthetic upgrade and smart hardware changes! Would be great to see this Optiplex build versus a newer build with more modern components to compare performance per dollar. Maybe entry level 10-11th gen intel with a used 3060, for example.
    Looking forward to more great content 👍

    Very nice series of videos and a very pretty end result.
    I have 2 suggestions for different/future upgrades.
    The slight disadvantage of the 4770s is the lower all core boost frequency. There are a lot of second hand Xeon e3 1240/1241 v3 which are usually cheaper than their i7 counterparts and are able to push their all core boost frequency higher.
    Also, by adding a sata to 6pin adapter you could run a card like a GTX 1060 6GB which would be fine with the power supply.

    • @UltraBudgetPC
      @UltraBudgetPC  Рік тому +2

      The Sata to 6 pin is something I considered for this video but the 1060 I had while recording most of the footage was a little too beefy with the HDD cage. I recently got a Zotax ITX variant that would fit perfectly if it's an option I explore in the future

      @@UltraBudgetPC Rtx 2060supers can be had for at little as $150 and they pair well with a dell workstation which are super cheap but have gold rated psu in the 500~900w range. It's the upper end of budget builds that can deliver AAA 1080/1440p high refresh rate performance for less than the price of a console and much easier to get.

      @@bomber_007 Dell workstations have high end cpu in them so there is little chance of bottlenecking a 2060. They typically run in the $100~$200 range and come with ssd or even nvme storage included depending on model and usually 16 gigs of high speed ram minimum. They are a much much better deal than the cheap office pc due to their power and expandability provided you have the budget.

      Dell's PSU use proprietary connectors and proprietary formfactor, there's no way to upgrade the PSU and MB (unless you love resolder wires and drill the case)

    Your effort for it , is really awesome my suggestion to you is to make the look of inside of the pc even better by doing some nice cable management and putting some stickers on the outside of the pc of games like cyberpunk 2077 or spiderman, it ll make it even more awesome , and in next video regarding the optiplex try overclocking the gpu BTW nice work

    you build series was awesome! I probably would have gone with at 1050ti over the 1650, though you got the card at an amazing price. The older architecture of the cpu keeps the 1650 from stretching its legs in more demanding titles. Other than that you killed it!

    • @UltraBudgetPC
      @UltraBudgetPC  Рік тому +1

      Yeah the 1050 ti is probably the best match for a card with not need for supplemental power. Obviously I got the 1650 for a good price in this case. Both the 1050ti and 1650, at least in my area, go for a little more used than I can generally justify spending on a low end card so I usually just take the best deals I can get.

    Excellent so far. You could go further with your upgrades by installing a more powerful PSU and GPU. It also seemed as if the CPU was already a bottleneck?!? Maybe even see what adding a PCI-E card with an NVMe M.2 drive would do…😎

    great job overall, especially as you did that WITHOUT upgrading the PSU. the paint job gives it an incredible look..
    the only real challenge now is what you could do with it dropping a little more for a PSU with a little more punch do let you upgrade the GPU further..

    a side benefit of the "S" or special edition power optimized for performance (T is power-optimized for thermal profile), is the lower base clock means much quieter CPU fan, and the dell 089R8J (i think is the one you have) cpu cooler is already pretty quiet. otherwise the white looks really good and the inside is pretty clean. 0J132D is the part number for the hdd tray 2.5" adapter plate. white cases always make me think a decal-style decoration would be a nice addition.

    • @RuruFIN
      @RuruFIN Рік тому

      S isn't a special edition, it's just a low-power version (and T is even lower power one). Been since from the Core2 days (Q9550S for example).

    • @chazbotic
      @chazbotic Рік тому

      @@RuruFIN no, intel uses "S" to literally mean a special edition processor that has been power optimized (at whatever level, not necessarily low power), for the performance market segment. "K" is specifically high performance. a "KS" is a high performance segment, power optimized CPU.
      the letter codes aren't necessarily intuitive. intel core processor suffixes are determined by marketing and in intel's own documentation the "S" is for "special edition", power optimized CPU in the desktop market, typically the performance segment.

    • @UltraBudgetPC
      @UltraBudgetPC  Рік тому +2

      I understand. For me, it isn't really worth a case upgrade but I might explore that option if I get my hand on a cheap mATX case that looks nice enough. Ik at least with my Optiplex, the proprietary front panel and fan connectors would require adapters which is an added hassle to get in. But like I said, it might be a good bit of content to transplant the internals to a case, and get a more capable PSU for extra headroom.
