      For $17 the 550 4gb is pretty good, if you spend more a 1050ti around here is about $35, RX580 8GB about $45. At the $80 price point any 4GB card is great.

      Joke's on them. I just installed Windows 11 24H2 on an E5-1650v3 (Haswell) machine. It is the RTM version so it is already being installed by OEMs - effectively the release version. That also means it will continue to receive updates and Microsoft wasn't bulsh*tting us when they said they would only block 24H2 on systems that lacked AVX2 support (pre-Haswell). So there's going to be 4 whole generations of intel hardware up for grabs for cheap, while still being able to run Windows 11🤣

    i built a mid gaming rig from a hp elitedesk tower g1 800. it came with 320watt psu but i bought a psu cable adapter then put a 550watt in there. put 32gb ddr3 1600mhz ram in there and a gtx 1650 super oc 4gb. chucked in the i7 4790k and this haswell system has zero bottleneck at 1080p gaming. put an evo 870 samsung 1tb ssd in there also and done. you can also mod the hp bios then flash it to accept m2 on a pci e slot card. all together this system cost me only $300 nzd which is 139 pound in gbp or $182 usd- the funniest thing about this build is i used co pilot ai to help build it for zero bottleneck and it worked which made me laugh.

    a lot of these old office desktops get thrown out and you can find them at recycling centers often for free or extremely cheaply, with bios updates a lot of them support xeons which can give you pretty great performance and run anywhere from 6$ to 30$, I have a few of them that are around the performance level of an i7 4770k or better, would recommend radeon wx series GPUs, sometimes flashing a gaming bios works when getting extremely cheap mining RX 470s - RX 580s (your mileage may vary), RAM upgrades are fun, not uncommon to find older RAM cheaply on local marketplace/classifieds sites, learning the basics of repairs and electronics recycling can make it extremely easy to get functional gaming rigs for almost nothing

    For $20, I got a Core 2 Quad 8200, 4GB Ram, and a decent mATX mobo and all because it came in a case I thought I could use. I was surprised at how well this actually ran with Windows 10 so I threw in my old GTX 550 TI and was able to run older games quite well. I kept it that way for a couple of days until I noticed that the floppy drive wasn't working, and I found out this is an issue with Windows 10, which really irritated me. So I wiped it and went with Windows 7, as I really needed that drive to transfer small files to my Win 95 PC.

    G'day UBPC,
    Builds like this are great to get Kids Gaming in RoBlox, Mincraft etc... & learning how to use a PC
    While not as Fancy or Modern as your one here I got the last part needed (CPU Tower Cooler) for my DELL "Upgrading to Gaming PC" Inspiron 530 😂.
    I got the PC a few years ago off eBay for $30AUD as "🤷‍♂I don't know why it keeps crashing trying to turn on & I took out the graphics card🤷‍♂" & has been sitting in a box waiting.
    It is an original Q6600 + DG33M03 running Vista, did some investigating & CrystalDiskInfo found the HDD was failing with a crazy amount of bad sectors, so I added my test R7 250 plus one of my spare DELL 500GB HDD & fresh Vista install worked perfect.
    Being in good condition including the Original "Windows Vista" & "intel Core 2 Quad inside" stickers (while upgrading to a In Win PowerMan 400W PSU to add PCIe 6pin) I thought I'd stick with a Period GPU of which I found a PowerColor HD4850 for $10AUD 🙃👎, but then...
    Giving it a run with CB R15 the DELL CPU Cooler fan is starting to make "Dying Noises" so I "Splurged" on the Silverstone KR03 92mm Tower Cooler for $15AUD, Super Happy as doing a good job running Unigine Tropics it will play heaps of my GOG DRM Free Retro Games for a total of $55AUD😁 ($38USD - £28.50).

      The cheapest but still competent and actually strong mouse I have ever bought is a Tecknet model. I bought it for about 10 euros, about 10 years ago. I made a video on it several years ago on my main channel and I was not impressed because back then I found it too slippery. While that is not as important now that I have been using it for a couple of years as my daily mouse, it has a design that makes it easier to pressed the right mouse button when moving the mouse towards you. Not always, just some times. Which can be a bit annoying as you can imagine. Still, otherwise a 10 euros mouse which isn't malfunctioning, is relatively good for gaming and looks awesome, is in my book a great ultra budget peripheral.
      My point is, if I were going for a budget mouse now (and I hope I don't have to as I am now poor), I would look what new Tecknet has to offer.

    Just put together an i5-4590 + RX 570 4g build for about $105.
    I found a killer deal on facebook for a Dell XPS 8700 for $72, offered $65 and he took it. Came with a 256gb mSATA SSD (kinda slow but better than an hdd boot drive) and a 1tb HDD. Super great deal, guy was super chill too.
    The RX 570 was just $30 off marketplace, lucky find too.
    The PC came with a good PSU, but it only had a dual 6pin so I had to buy an adapter off Amazon which pushed me juuuuust over $100.

    I bought 4 8gb 2400G SFF elitedesk PCs off eBay for 50 each. The chip is really easy to work with, not the greatest CPU only performance, but it's going to sit under the desk and be the little workhorse.
    6500t PCs seem to come in pretty cheap too. But I hear the Radeon iGPU comparatively punches with 8th gen intel iGPUs.
    Regardless, it's fun to work with. Do a little bit of gaming, and overnight rendering. I'd have to go on a part hunt if I wanted some half height GPUs. It's just a side hobby so spending full price is out of the question.

      I can't quite say that I have a super extensive history of purchasing these OEM systems yet. So far, I've found the most success searching on eBay using fairly broad keywords like "Optiplex" or "Desktop PC" and then filtering based on my preferred specs. I'm sure knowing different models would be helpful in narrowing down, and maybe finding some more hidden listings.

    Yeah, this is one way to go, although, an old i5 without HT really doesn't cut it for esports in 2024, let alone an i3.
    I just tested a 3570 with a Quadro K2200 (basically a 4GB 750Ti, which is Maxwell architecture, not Kepler) for an ultra budget esports rig I'm going to sell and I ordered a 3770 because I can't really make it fly with the i5. Ironically, it did best with BL3 and Cyberpunk at 1080p with a 30fps cap, absolute lowest settings and FSR at the "Ghetto" setting. However, because those aren't as CPU intensive as CS2 or Fortnite, it was a very steady, consistent 30 fps. I liked that it didn't frame drop when I drove through that one part of Night City. I played Cyberpunk for a few hours like that and forgot I was gaming on the absolute lowest spec hardware you could conceivably use to get a solid 1080p30.
    So I paid 3-4x as much on parts for my 'ultra budget esports rig' but I also don't get stutters in Fortnight on performance mode🤦‍♂
    I also wasn't left with a heavy boat anchor of a PC that is expensive to ship.
    Lets say I sell it for $300....Well, go look at what you get on Amazon for $300. You'll probably get a Quadro K620 (AKA GTX 745 OEM), and a Haswell i3 in an old Optiplex with some RGB shoved in and maybe a vinyl wrap.

      Going the cheap route with an AliExpress MB and a Xeon E5-1650v3 will save you at least $50, while giving the same gaming performance.

    I have a GTX 1060 6GB. What would be the best GPU to pair with an i7 8700k?

    • @UltraBudgetPC
      @UltraBudgetPC  2 місяці тому

      An 8700k is still a pretty capable chip. If you're running games in 1440p you could really get any recent mid-high end GPU but if that's not in your budget or you're using a 1080p monitor, I'd recommend something like a 2070/2070super or Radeon RX 6650 XT. A smaller and cheaper upgrade could be up to something like an RX 5700 XT or GTX 1660 Super/Ti but I'm not sure if that is a largely worthwhile upgrade.

    Sorry i don't understand, why you bougth an oem system without CPU RAM and storage? It would be more wise taking a complete system for that money. Or at least take a non oem pc without those component for easy expandability for GPU and psu. SFF system are just a source of complication without any real vantage.

    • @UltraBudgetPC
      @UltraBudgetPC  Місяць тому

      The only reason I bought the barebones system that I did is because I already had both CPUs that I used on hand and plenty of RAM. Neither of which I had any other use for. Doing it that way allowed me to get use out of what I already had. In most cases, if an individual wanted to start with an OEM, the best value play is definitely to find something that has all or most of the needed components included.

      @Avetto85 Місяць тому

      @@UltraBudgetPC Hi, thanks for the reply but even more reason you should have bought any custom PC on which to mount the components you already had. Or much better sell those yuo don't need and take case, psu and better cpu used. The result would have been more efficient and with greater possibilities for upgrades down the line.

    • @Avetto85
      @Avetto85 Місяць тому

      @@UltraBudgetPC I know that a lot also depends on the area you live in and what the second-hand market offers. But a case is very easy to find at a low price, perhaps with a PSU included. Otherwise your build makes perfect sense.
