FIRST CONCERT I EVER ATTENDED, IT WAS MIND BLOWING, AND NOBODY WOULD LEAVE, THEY HAD TO COME BACK OUT AND PERFORM SOME MORE, AWESOME CONCERT! THIS IS WHEN MUSIC WAS "REALLY" MUSIC!
I'll never get tired of listening to the music from the 60s up to the 90s, I have soooooo many to choose from. There are some songs from artists today that I like, but there are few and far in between.
I MISS THE 70'S!!!!! Especially when I think of all the great TV music variety shows like American Bandstand, The Midnight Special and Soul Train. Just these 3 TV shows made Saturday's when I was a teenager great........
OMG the man!!! I always loved Kool & the Gang. Love the whistle here too but they cut off the Tarzan yell at the end. My favorite part lol Watching this guy groove made up for it.
I miss real music. All we got now is noise. Mind you there is some good pieces every now and then, but I really miss funk, jazz, rhythm and blues, and other big band sounds. Oh and I'm 22. Wasn't bored in the age of these bands, but I wish I was.
I keep looking at this video! The guy that does the spin, is keeping my attention! "Now shake it around" Get down, get down, get down...I'm dancing right now in my chair as I'm typing. Oh man! Think I might have a 70's and 80's party.
little bit of trivia: this song was also known as the corpse test because in the 1800s doctors were giving for dead a lot of cataleptic people so Lord Cannonball started to play this song in his mutherfucking play music thing, and if the corpse still was alive it'd stand up and dance around the room, uncontrolably searching for a whistle.
This is one of the hottest grooves looking back in the seventees. But, I don't think they thought it was that amazing as we do now. And I am not sure where the Soul Train went.
This was "Pre JT Era (James Taylor). Even though this was a mega hit for the band...I just couldn't "get into them" until JT arrived....with "Celebrate", "Joanna", "Get Down On It", "Cherish"........that's when Kool and the Gang began to roll (just my opinion). JT was "the voice".
The singer is Don Boyce, he was with with them from 1973 through 1976. Kool and the Gang really didn't have a lead singer until they hired James(J.T.) Taylor and musically headed off in a new direction (not my favorite period). It's hard to believe now but in 1976 they were under a lot of pressure, disco was taking over, other bands were taking over (like Earth, Wind & Fire), and their latest album hadn't done well. Pity, this music has held up better.
One of the best soul/funk songs of the 70's. That bass line is badass!

Love this. It was a mistake not to do it live. This band had a lot of energy when they did this tune live back then.
I miss real music. All we got now is noise. Mind you there is some good pieces every now and then, but I really miss funk, jazz, rhythm and blues, and other big band sounds. Oh and I'm 22. Wasn't bored in the age of these bands, but I wish I was.
