Youmu's Journey: Trying to Buy Ice Cream For Yuyuko [東方 Touhou - Sprite Animation]

- This is the beginning of an adventure in which Youmu Konpaku must complete a very important quest granted by her mistress Yuyuko: get a very precious ice cream.
So, to fulfill this task, Youmu goes to the only human village and starts looking for a stand of such frozen snack.
Once found, everything seemed to indicate that the mission was going to end, surprisingly easily and quickly.
But then, the lady at the stall, Hika, looking quite restless, mentions that she has not been able to make her ice cream due to a complication.
Therefore, Konpaku is willing to contribute assistance to solve this problem.

As seen in the video, the theme of the entire video was to look like an RPG game, taking the rather typical ideas of these games and make the funny for the video.
At first, it was intended that the main character for this would be Reimu and the story would be very different. But after tweaking different ideas, I felt that Youmu would be a better choice, just thinking that she already carries a sword (2 in fact) and for any RPG game, that's essential.
It's the first time I use unique sprites made by me, the human villagers, Reisen in that outfit, Joon in the background... even most of Youmu's sprites are edited cuz in the original SWR prites, she is constantly in an offensive position, making it difficult for her to seem natural in a different situation.

ohh on side note.. during the process of this video, the project crashed more than 20 times :D

The ice cream is starting to look like a side quest that if you dont do it you get the bad ending.
Bad ending: Yuyuko eats Gensokyo due to how long Youmu is taking to do the side quest.

It straight up feels like a joke weapon. I’m not even a Yommu fan but Damn all that for a sword who’s effects can be boiled down to “does insert percent here more damage to rodent enemies.” That is just Rough. I feel bad for Yommu honestly.

Bahahahaha lemme guess it instakills rats that are large and have lightning powers but deals like 2% more damage to everything else ha that’s still a waste of resources and again just level grind at least with level grinding there are tangible stat buffs that could be used everywhere that allow the person to deal more than just the equivalent of Fire Emblem 8 regular enemies attacking Seth or Demons in SMT attacking something that nulls it. Meanwhile the meanwhile this joke of a weapon would only really be more effective than higher levels when used against Dynamax Pikachu. Or Gensokiyan Raticate.

I'm pretty sure the 'grossed out' effect was from south park: the stick of Truth. it was annoying there, and it seems Youmu has just learned this frustration. the castle crashers' music also brought back some nice memories. great animation, keep up the good work.
Indeed, the icon of the effect is directly from that game. Luv the South Park RPG games.
Monster Hunter has a similar item-inhibiting one, known as Stench and usually caused by either fecal attacks or bugs with spray attacks

Loved a lot of things about this animation, especially the fact that rats can shoot lightning and that Kogasa apparently speaks in squeaks. The lore in these videos is pretty good too and I'm disappointed in myself that I didn't realize soon enough that Hika uses Serena's voice from Dragon Quest 11.

Kogasa reading the list of ingredients put a smile of amusement on my face, especially at the mention of the sunflower where Yuuka would be. Youmu pretty much decided to bury herself to just save time. Lol
Not sure what Nitori being in the stinger means, unless this connects to the previous animation that was focused on Hina. If so, that sounds interesting.
Overall, this was worth the wait. Looking forward to seeing this continue.
Going with the comment on the trailer about playing as a human villager in SOKU, I think it'd be cool to see more underpowered characters in the fighting game rosters.
I distinctly recall that ZUN really wanted to include Rumia in IaMP, but eventually had to scrap her due to time constraints. The Touhou fighting game rosters have always had a pretty small range of true high-tiers anyway, so it would just spice up the roster to include some characters that belong in bottom-tier but can still at least be semi-viable if you really know how to play them.
This was so fun, I liked the HUD for the battle and Kogasa being the blacksmith, great pull from the manga (it was also really cute when she bumped her head). Would love to see a part 2 but understand that if there is one coming it's not coming for a while.
Didn't know ice cream was so hard to get in gensokoyo, but the fighting a giant rat part is normal.

Today I learned: Kogasa is canonically a blacksmith, and she's actually serious when talking about the sword here.

Try using the ghost half to possess the rat. Or maybe get a seed of the unknown form or some tanuki leaves to fool the crafting recipe. Or ask Yuyuko to use instant death on the rat. Or maybe-
Nah Youmu too dum to do this.
Maybe she can call up Iku Nagae to hit it with ball lightning, tie the rat up while it’s paralyzed, give it a Nezuko muzzle filled with cement, maybe bring and work in some raw gum into the mix, just to be sure.
Or maybe put some powdered cement in a cloth bag, add water, tie it up, and throw it into the rat’s mouth, the stuff runs *HOT* freshly activated.
