Thank you for this fight, always love to get these early ESPN AND USA Network Bouts from 1980 Thru 1986. The fighters that fought on these cards from the early 1980's on these small club shows were the unsung heroes of boxing. Anymore bouts from these early ESPN and USA shows are greatly appreciated. Thanks again.
This was the first of many defeats for Cooper as a heavyweight. He was much better at cruiserweight. Gross was a tough heavyweight who took on all comers. His fight against Mike Tyson was exciting eventhough he lost by an early KO. At least he stood toe to toe with Tyson and traded punches until Mike landed a flush left hook to end matters. Cooper has passed away, but Gross is still around although he is rotting in prison for a murder conviction. That's what happens when you work as a part-time hitman while using a boxing career as cover. Gross, along with Sonny Liston and a few other boxers throughout boxing history, was heavily involved in the criminal underworld. As one boxing writer once said: "boxing attracts its fair share of seedy characters," and Gross was definitely one of them!
Gross was a decent heavyweight, and I'll always give him credit for actually fighting Tyson instead of running like most of his opponents were doing at the time. Too bad he had to get into drugs and murder.
Thank you for uploading this...... Shame what happen to Reggie 2048 his first parole date. Do you have any fights from Kasson Saxton he was 68-0 amateur & 5-0 Professional before he was wrongfully convicted of murder & robbery like Reggie he got a life bid in the Feds....His fights were televised on ESPN back in 92-94 . Thank you
I remember watching Kasson and thought he looked fantastic. Then in the early 90's I had my own issues where it was hard for me to follow prospects in boxing and just forgot about him. Until reading this comment. Sorry to hear what happened to him. But I totally remember him--a well-built guy, nice hands, a real nice looking prospect probably woulda made some money in this biz.
Thanks Johny! Unfortunately I've posted all the M.Green fights I have: vs Cross, Casale, Foley, Jones, Cummings, and Tyson (along with a few random news clips etc). I have seen the Epps & Wofford fights on other UA-cam channels. It would be great if more turned up.
reggie gross was considered a - "tough worthy fighter" against bert cooper, reggie gross was considered a - "weak unworthy bum" against mike tyson. lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for uploading! Didn't know this terrific brawl existed!
Bernstein's commentary was class, no one like him around today.
Thanks for putting this fight. I have been looking for it for years.

Cooper had pretty insane output for a heavyweight
great upload indeed
Really good contest. Clever boxing by Gross, Cooper absolutely gassed and the end of the 7th. Solid effort by both men.
Joe Frazier said Cooper was on drugs at the time of this fight.
Rudy Battle, there's no better name for a referee. Lol
East Bmore Reggie Gross Rip mack lewis
