The problem with an armored car that looks like this… if you’re actually someone who needs an armored vehicle, this stands out so much it’s obvious a VIP or whatever is in it. It’s awesome looking for sure but anyone who wants to lay low but be protected buy normal looking armored cars. This would really only be useful in war zones or amongst a support convoy. Keeping a low profile is usually the best way to avoid attacks without a full on convoy

lol, it gets even worse when you consider the weight. Its based on an F450 dually platform, which weights in at around 7000 to 8000 pounds on its own. that means they added a body, windows, and this has almost no armor plating at all in the doors, because it would be well over 10000 pounds. not only is this a "for show" rig, but I would not even trust those windows with the massive gap around them inside for a bullet to penetrate thru.
I feel like when they were designing this they didnt realize how much it was gonna cost to produce these, so half way thru they just started cutting corners, the cheap quality of the interior, the door locks, no armor on the windshield, no armor for the engine bay, and kept the engine completely stock
It would appear you're correct that the windshield looks completely unarmored, I doubt they've bothered to blast proof the cabin floor either HOWEVER it is actually very common for up armored vehicles to not have armoring on the hoods. If you pay premium premium prices for your tank on wheels you *can* get very basic ballistic protection (small arms protection coating) but as far as actual armor typically you'll only get the cabin because of the sheer weight of armoring an entire civilian vehicle. Very few if any civilian vehicles front axles could handle all the additional weight required to carry one continuous sheet of AR500 1/2in steel. Don't get me wrong it is probably (my only experience with up armored vehicles are all military) entirely possible to get an armored hood but in my experience only the cabin of vehicles has crazy levels of protection. Except maybe the presidents car "the beast", that thing is an actual tank. It literally has 8 inch thick armor all around with 5 inch thick windows... just DUMMY THICC

Did anyone notice the latch on the escape hatch? Looks like a prybar could easily defeat it. Looks like you're safe until somebody jumps on top of it. Also how the toggle switches are canted and moved when he activated the dead bolt switch.
Yeah, looking at this it feels like a prototype and not a finished product. I didn't notice it at first but look at around 6:10 when Doug is demonstrating the extra security lock. The first thing that stood out to me was when he went to flick the switch to lock the dead bolt the housing moved. Not something I would expect to happen in a finished product and it makes you wonder if the switch panel might come loose after driving it a while. The other thing I noticed was that the screws holding the deadbolt in place were lose. I don't know if that's because the installation job was poorly done, or if the screws just worked loose after some time driving/demonstrating the vehicle. Either way it doesn't make me feel like this vehicle would be very durable.
At 11:02 The "CB radio" The microphone you held up was definitely not from a CB band radio. The front of the radio did not appear to be CB either. That is probably a radio that operates on a private frequency you can license....please make a note of this please. At 13:37 That may be the radar detector for certain types of radar guided anti armor missiles....
6:34 The top screw on the deadbolt lock is already falling out or wasn’t tightened correctly. Quality engineering that rivals Tesla’s fit and finish. lol
That rear mirror is a weird choice. for a 300,000 dollar car, they could have just put in a 5 dollar camera and give you perfect view of what's happening behind you. Hell, put in a 500 dollar camera and have the option of it being infrared and see in the dark if someone is following you with the lights off.
One after another "crappy movie prop assembly" The loose crooked switches, totally remind me of my "modded" teenage car. Absolute garbage. Bet the electrical is just as bad, all non waterproof crimp connectors that will constantly separate and fail. The nicest parts are the upholstery which they probably didn't do in house!
I think if I spent 300k I’d like the stitching on the ceiling to not be mediocre, or the cb just tossed in the floor, or the deadbolt locks to not look so flimsy, or straight placed switches on the dash, or a logo that actually fits the steering wheel logo correctly 😂
Well, the "US" does really stand for United States; in fact, USSV really stands for "United States Special Vehicles". So, yeah, what else could you expect, CJ Official? :-P

In two lane roads people will instinctively move over as if you are either going to crush them or again the police coming down the road. Luxurious inside super cool!
Unless USSV went through the effort of putting the "Super Duty" decal back on an armored windshield, this thing definitely has a factory windshield. I don't think I need to explain why that is a problem 😂
According to the USSV website the GX does not come armored. It's an option carried out by a third-party outfitter. I assume this one is either not armored at all or only mildly armored. The stock one looks exactly the same, they use "cold rolled steel body panels"
@@yungboicontigo9278 yup I mistyped GC but meant GX. USSV states on their site they do not do armoring and their vehicles do not come armored. It's an option carried out by a third party outfitter.

@@NickRaven A lot of armored cars have those gunports. They might come in handy when being attacked from the side of the road. Anyways, the Quality doesnt look good at all for a 300.000$ vehicle....
Not only that, but the other thing I've noticed from Doug's videos over the years is that every God damn car that he has reviewed that's also being sold at the time has dirty interior! Like some supercars from dealers have dirty interiors. Is that like a normal thing in the US? I'm realy confused.
“It’s got a built in CB radio” Zooms in on CB radio laying on the floor randomly with wires everywhere and no mounts for the hand sets. Yeah, that’s real clean for $300,000.
I don’t think it’s a CB radio. The unit is some type of digital Motorola and the curly Q antenna on the roof is too short for CB. A real security detail would want something encrypted too, so not every trucker on the highway can listen. I wonder if it was added by the previous owner and not from the factory since it really is thrown in there.

if it were armored it would be too heavy to lift and during an emergency situation, that could be fatal. Plus where its positioned, it doesn't necessarily need to be armored.
If you think about it.... 1) The car is slow, so if it were to take off from a standstill, you still have a few seconds to run to it and grab onto that exterior handle. 2) It never ever really gets all that fast, and so I assume climbing on top wouldn't be all too difficult. 3) Knowing Edwin Sarkissian's channel, I know that there are some handguns that can penetrate even metal plates, and so in conclusion... You're right, this element doesn't really fit the Bulletproof theme this tank has got going.
@@coolmendotdot2 good luck trying to get on top of it. Regardless, they didnt armor it so who's right here? Im sure these engineers have thought of these things. I'm willing to bet the floor has absolutely zero protection as well. The reversible wheels are a neat touch I guess.
No one is gonna buy this thing that actually needs this level of security. You can get similar security from an X5 armored or an S-class Guard, if not higher. This thing is nothing more than a novelty for people more concerned about their image than security. This car makes you more of a threat, as well. People notice a massive MRAP driving anywhere. Considerably less so an X5 or an S-class.
The reversible wheels isn't something neat at all, pretty much every dually trucks comes with reversible wheels. The only difference here is that they removed the inside wheels and used bigger ones instead. Doug is a little clueless on that part.
No-one that needs an armoured vehicle would actually buy this. Merc and Land Rover make properly armoured cars. This is for someone cosplaying at being important. It's a security vehicle in the same way that the H2 is a military vehicle.
Not to mention all the addons look real shitty in quality. I mean look at those switches where the "smoke screen" and "caltrops" are. Theyre all smashes together and not even in line. You mean you couldnt spend the ext 20 bucks on proper layout?

Land rovers build quality is better, but still rather mediocre. And you wouldn't want to be broken down while people are attacking you, so why not pick something more reliable.
@@remixislandmusic510 I would kinda disagree with yr statement. Land Rovers are better, at being depreciable. Newer Defenders tend to have coolant faulty and camera failures, at least mostly the 4 cylinder Defenders. that's the thing: in the event of a global apocalypse you are FAR better off with an used 50$ bicycle. Runs on muscle-power, gets you everywhere due the small profile and you can carry it anywhere you want. It's also good enough to outrun zombies.
If you’re actually used to driving large vehicles like this, the in-cab rear view mirror is a novelty that doesn’t really ever get used. Most drivers of vehicles of this size, pretty much by instinct borne out of necessity, use the side mirrors or screens from externally mounted cameras. In this sort of vehicle, 99% of the time there is usually either a box, head rack, or trailer blocking the view of directly behind the drivers position in the cab. So again, the side rear facing mirrors are your only option unless the vehicle is equipped with a rear view camera set up which personally I LOVE having installed. Multi view types on the standard side mirror position, down and rearward aim at the front end of the front fenders, a drop view at the front, and a corrected display “true view” pano (corrects the distorted appearance of a panoramic type lens) at the rear as a camera set up gives you a complete view of literally every blind spot around the vehicle. If you have a dedicated trailer that works with an extension plug to the truck outfitted with side drop views and a rear corrected view pano, you can literally parallel park a full sized condo box semi with a 53 foot box type trailer without ever stepping foot out of the rig and put that sucker within inches of any obstacle playing mean with your parking efforts, lol. Cameras are the way to go!! 🤓🤓🤓 🤣 👍🏻😎👍🏻

Omg, the shop around the corner from me has one of these on display all the time. I thought this was just a tasteless mod kit for an f250. I Had no idea this thing was not entirely for show.
The lack of an armored hood is how you can tell this is just something for foolish buyers oversea. I cant imagine the logic of not making one of the most vulnerable parts of the vehicle bulletproof. But i mean, it looks pretty
Why armor the hood when the engine's going to need a vulnerable spot in the grille for the radiator anyway. Besides, having a hood that takes three people to lift would just cause more problems than it solves anyway.
Real bulletproof cars (not talking about this joke here, which is clearly just about the looks) don't have bulletproof hoods either, but a bulletproof firewall.
Because of the likelihood of where you're going to take hits. Even tanks are more lightly armored on top because that's not where most attacks are going to hit. Unless you're fending off attacks from a helicopter or rooftops, protecting the passenger compartment is more paramount.

Quality looks kinda low...
I mean it is used, but quality does seem poor.
lol, it gets even worse when you consider the weight.

That rear mirror is a weird choice. for a 300,000 dollar car, they could have just put in a 5 dollar camera and give you perfect view of what's happening behind you. Hell, put in a 500 dollar camera and have the option of it being infrared and see in the dark if someone is following you with the lights off.
You could even install it on the inside of the rear window for security/safety
They challenged themselves not to spend more than $50 on any of the interior features.
Judging by the interior, that kind of job is way beyond their skill level

@@emberfist8347yes but they could have atleast installed stuff properly given the price tag and not used super cheap off the shelf parts
But in the end, you could just get an armored G-Wagon from Brabus or even from Mansory for the same price and a better quality...! Also, armored S-Classes are also a thing if you cant want to sit in an SUV/Offroad vehicle
“you can pop out & start shooting your attacker”
*Doug pops out hitting you with the double wave*
It would've been more fun had he popped out and started imitating firing a machine gun around.
Doug: IT HAS CRAZY FEATURES LIKE GUN PORTS
Texans: huh, makes sense
Yep
Anything is a gun port if u think about it
Perfect for the typical American school run.
@@hoilst U joined 14 years ago wow
Us Texans thank you.
I would eliminate 3rd row and a small fridge on one side and then the rest for luggage cause a road trip is prolly the best way of getting the most out of this vehicle the open highway
"Think we need to armor the hood?"
"Ain't nobody got time for that!"
This vehicle is lowkey a joke. Look at the finishing on everything. The switches are loose and not mounted well. Plus the windshield and top hatch not having much armor. It all just seems like a joke
It's like something the Chinese would use.
That windshield is just a standard Ford windscreen. It even has Ford’s “SUPER DUTY” paint on it.
I’d feel more secure in a bass-van.

gotta have this car for the upcoming blm/antifa riots
This looks like something I would've come up with when I was 14 (though mine would have front mudguards! (very important)).
People who "need the protection" would be foolish to go for something so conspicuous :D
Can't believe someone would pay $300k for this pieced together truck

As far as I knew, that's exactly how a dually tire and wheel work, front is reverse mount of the rear 🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️
The windscreen does not look like bullet-proof glass, but like the one fitted as standard.
It’s literally the stock windshield, you can see the super duty is still on there
looks like a home depot / autozone special with a $150,000 upcharge
Pepboys special
hey doug, dual rear wheel pickups also have the same wheels and tires on the front and back axles. ya just flip them around when you need to change them.
Trucks and busses too
you know its a really big car when doug can stand behind it and be completely covered
