I won the men's open at my local course in 1999, I was 14. The winnings were $1500. I had my mom run me into the city and I bought the newly released i3 Blades black dot in left with the JZ Stiff shafts. It's 2022, I still use them and currently a +3 handicap. I run the Ping Tisi 7° driver with a Harrison Pro 2.5 titanium shaft, i3 5 wood with a JZ Stiff shaft, Ping Isopur 2 putter, Ping M/B 50°,56° and 60° wedges. Ping Tisi/i3 tour black bag.

I have a set of i3s and MB wedges too. Love those wedges. Grooves still just as sharp as they were when I got them 20 years ago.

2022, Had my Ping I3 Blades since the beginning of 2000.First time I ever got fitted for a club. I just purchased a new Mizuno JPX 921 set, not to replace my Pings, in addition to them. You're right, I love my Pings. I clean them after every round (well, I clean all my clubs regularly. It's an addiction). I play well with them and I'm not embarrassed to drag them around the course. One of the best golf products ever made (my opinion). In the same time period I've owned half a dozen drivers, multiple woods, 5 putters, numerous wedges, even a few bags. I 3s, 22 years and counting.

Love my Ping i/3s - had them since they came out. I have 6-W in the blade, and 3-5 in the offset for a bit more forgiveness. They’ve been in my garage for quite a few years. Just started getting back into golf in 2020 and I still love them. Probably need a new driver though. Currently have a Titanium Burner 8.5 loft with the S-90 bubble shaft!

Been playing Ping I3 Blade green dot 3i - PW for 20 years and performed outstanding. When fitted at the golf club, pro decided I needed Volkey Titleist wedges.. 52 and 56. Recently picked up two Ping I3 wedges... I3 Oversize green dot - SW and LW. Hoping this helps with my consistency around the greens and short distance. Thanks for the review. Helpful even 2 years later.... And yes very emotional attachment to the clubs!!!!

Just wondering, playing these vintage irons… what is your handicap? Not that it matters a ton to lots of people, I’m just curious cause I don’t want to get a set of these and not be able to hit them at all.

Good sticks. I played a i3+, i3+ blade, s59 combo set for a couple seasons back when I was in college. I the i3+ blades felt pretty good, were easy to hit, and didn't look like trash cans on sticks. I eventually moved to an all s59 set before getting into forged clubs.

Just for fun pulled out my old i3 oversized which I had replaced with the Ping G25s, and played a round today. First time in seven years with these. Beginning to wonder why I replaced them in the first place. Fantastic feel, accuracy. And they'll spin any ball, even 2 piece distance balls. Tied my low round of this year. You're right there is some kind of emotional attachment. They just seem so high quality and timeless. The lofts are a bit weaker than the G25s so about half a club shorter, but just a pleasure to hit. And back in the early 2000's everybody had them at my home club. Really enjoy your reviews.

Ping i3 blade was a real game changer for ping. They are a great iron which is a cavity back, but it also has some blade looks to it at address.
I am gaming a set of these and love them. They are easily to shape shots and offer a bit of forgiveness.
The i3 irons were the start of the next generation of ping irons after the hard to follow eye 2 & Zing ranges.

I had a green dot 6 iron for many years, which was just a sngle club i would keep in my car for "emergency driving tange stops." Over the years, i tried every other new Ping, and other brands. For me, Ping peaked right here. I bought a full set and will never let go of them. I a NOT good at golf. But with these, I now feel like i can "shape" my shots. They are a dream.

I bought a set of i3 blades new back in 2000. Nearly 20 years later I still play them. I have tried a ton of new clubs and keep going back to my white dot, +1” i3’s. I think the reason why people are so attached to these is the fact that these were one of the first custom fit irons on the market. I remember the golf shop I got fit at and Ping really capitalized on the personalization of the clubs. Call it what you want, but I play these clubs bc I still hit them better than any of the new stuff on the market...

I also just got a set of I3s over the weekend!
Nothing harsh in the way of sound or feel and the harder properties help them to hold their condition and appeal.
The profile still reflects the pointed toe of the EYE and ISI K but more subtle, a nice throwback which fades more with each iteration.
Great clubs, unfortunate about the U grooves.

TGIF!!! Hmmmmmm Ping I3 huh? Interesting club. Never had them but a buddy of mine did and loved them. Not the most attractive club to me, but at address it looks pretty sweet and they were wonderful to hit. I loved my Eye2's and the ISI's were really hot! Another fond memory. Thanks

I got the 2 iron for like $5 at a garage sale like 7 or 8 years ago. Bought it just for fun with no intent of actually using it outside of hitting it some at the range. Turns out that I really liked it and have kept it in the bag ever since. It's a great "fairway finder" for me cause I find it more forgiving than your average 2 iron blade but I'm still able to hit low "stingers" with it if need be.

Got my Ping o-size irons way back in 2000. After playing Titleist blades for the last 4 years I decided to go back to the i3's for fun as my blades are on their last legs. Having so much fun ATM with the i3's I think I will keep them in the bag for a while. Just so easy to hit it almost feels like cheating. Feels good anywhere on the face and was surprised with the consistency of trajectory with them. Fun fact: Nick Faldo used a mixture of ping i3 blade and o-size irons towards the end of his career. Remember following him around Royal Melbourne at the Heineken Classic and saw them in his bag!!! One of the best irons Ping ever made.

It's been 15 years since my last round of golf, and last week, I brought these i3 babies to the range. It still evoked great feels.
Very surprised I was still hitting them sweet with the same carry even after not swinging a club for 15 years.
I had a custom 2 iron which I used to tee off with on tight fairways, and it still hits flush.
Yes there are a lot of emotional connection with these irons. I'm already thinking of going back to hit some more balls with 'em.
Just gotta figure out how to replace the weighted dampeners at the back.

played the i3 o size from 2007 until this year. great clubs but my miss is left. when I found out that the purpose of offset is to keep you from missing right and found out the i3 blade has little to no offset, I picked up a set of these on ebay. still miss a little left but can now fade or draw on command. have had multiple weights fall out but found another 3-9 set on ebay. hit the 6 175 yds and plus or minus 10 yards for each club up or down. love the 56 sand wedge.

    • @intothebreak571
      @intothebreak571 4 місяці тому

I had the dampener weight fall out and I just put a stack of lead tape in the cavity where it was and a longer piece across those. Made sure the weight was similar to the dampener weight. to me it swings even better and feels better. Still have the dampener so will have to get around to fixing it but the tape works well. Also think the weight fell out because I was hitting with the club while it was cold and the balls cold. Great nostalgic club.

Played the i3 OS from 2003 until 5 years ago. Switched to G25s only because the G25 3 and 4 irons were easier to hit. But fortunately kept my i3 set. Sentimental attachment to them. And the i3 has one advantage over the G25-easier to hit out of the rough. The i3s are classics. Worth buying used if you can find them. So now I have 5 sets of irons. Got an old set of Top Flite Tour Titanium irons and they're great too.

Have 2 sets. Both Green dot, standard length. One near new (unshafted, with PX Satin 5.5 - the original RP ones waiting to glue up). The other has ZZ65 and I bought as gamers/range clubs.
I had S59s that I gamed for about 10 years - almost identical performance tbh. The only noticeable difference was the top line 🤷‍♂️
Even as a cavity, you can work them both ways. Versatile in soft and hard turf. They really are (for me) Pings best ever iron.
