Original Description: If you are looking for that classic supermarket jingle then look no further. Sounds For The Supermarket was the title of a tape cassette produced by a Minnesota based Communications company in 1975. It was available by mail purchase to supermarket venders in the US and Canada. The music contains inaudible subliminal recordings that were intended to increase buyer purchasing at grocery stores. Customers were influenced to purchase more products as a result of the brain-wave patterns hidden in the musical notes and sound compositions. Different subliminal tapes were also sold for purposes of advertising and social programming and all contained the title "Sounds For The. . . ." Iv'e held on to this for about 25 years. Musically the sounds are typical easy listening or elevator music. There is no information about the company nor the musicians anywhere that I could find. The label/information has peeled away with time. Each side of the tape had ten songs. All 20 songs are recorded here as 16 separate videos with two tracks bundled together on four of them. Songs 4 and 1 are very classic 70s easy listening.

False and fake. This music are created by the best british Karl Jenkins, famous couse compose a lot of music for TV Spots, Commercials, and music for kids and cartoons. (Movies included). FunFact: This song and album are created in "1980".
It was a marketing program of the great soundtrack and all-purpose music company De Wolfe Music Company creating the "MEME" of the song. But it has been very satisfying that they make known to Internet users such a work of musical art despite being completely instrumental music.

@@cristo6901 bruh, cool info, but you missed the joke hard.
This song sounds like the intro to a 70's sitcom where they're driving across a bridge for a good minute with different panning shots of the city. Then the characters all turn to the camera for a smiling closeup with their actors' names.
LMAOOOOO
too real
So....Taxi? Lmao
BWAHAHAHAHAHA yeah it's funny because it's fucking true.
I never knew I'd say this, but ThkU for restoring your OC. There was some really enjoyable, clever thinking in that original comment section- - too bad it was lost. Anyway...
Sure, we all picture what the band members might look like, or the overall appearance of a concert the 1st time we hear a truly creative or stimulating song. We've all done that. But I remember you wondering if there was something wrong, 'cause it seems you'd never experienced such spontaneous imagery while listening to instrumental music. So I said that I'm no psychologist, but a vivid imagination is a key indicator 🔑 of a healthy, active mind...
When I was 5, a weekly trip to the neighborhood 24-hour laundromat was routine for my mother & I. One April day, as usual I was right outside the front door of the laundry, hanging my legs over the tall concrete rise of the walkway, waiting on the washers & dryers. That's when Paul Mauriat's instrumental _Love Is Blue_ began playing from the single ceiling speaker from inside the laundry. It was always tuned in to our local Easy Listening station, but this song used the full width & breadth of orchestra in a way I had never heard before. So hearing this song for the 1st time truly was an exhilarating experience! My mind's eye was instantly uplifted & transported across vast prairie & meadow, through rolling lush, green hills & into Colorado & it's Rocky Mountains. The deep river valleys & majestic waterfalls were all there- - I was soaring like an eagle. But these were places I'd only seen in photographs
Even now _Love Is Blue_ just sweeps me away
I didn't volunteer this story, originally. But I suggested listening to a couple more equally-epic Contemporary Orchestra pieces, just to see what experiences your imagination creates for you, as stimulated by the music. Enjoy!

Millions of boomers & gen-x if you must know. As for millennials & gen-z, I have no idea. The grocery stores in my region play 60s 70s & 80s mix, not instrumental Contemp Orch like this
And if you really enjoy old Easy Listening/ Contemp Orch, I offer you "Beautiful KNCT 91.3 FM, Temple-Belton-Killeen." Theyve been on the air continuously since 1970, no joke. Google them & youll see they can be live-streamed like any other station. For the classics such as Mozart, Bach, Lizst, Copeland, etc I recommend "WRR Classical 101 FM, Dallas-Ft Worth"
Ive been told Chicago & Detroit still have a couple of Easy Listening stations, too. I havent hunted them down yet. But you could try looking there, too: "Easy listening radio chicago," "Easy listening stations in michigan," etc

I worked at Kmart in the 80s and listed to music like this on about a 30min loop for 9 hours per day. Sitting here today fooling around with my guitar and getting pretty frustrated thinking I sound like old shopping music. After a quick search, here I am. CONFIRMED.
Release it on iTunes, man. I reckon half the comments section here would buy it. 😂
😆😆 The way you worded that it can be taken to mean you needed to do a Google search to confirm that you exist. Well, in that case, looks like we could ALL be purely simulated characters in a sophisticated computer program. _(Origin Unknown: 2036_ and _The Matrix_ themes: _"Could it be I'm just an illusion to myself?!")_
*@Joe Sheridan* Old shopping music sounds great! This isn't coming from some straight-laced tea-totaller who only listens to Mozart & Beethovan, & hates Rock 'n Roll. Although I like the Classics, too. But I listen to & perform Molly Hatchet, Pink Floyd, Earth Wind & Fire, Enya, Steve Miller, Bruno Mars, among many others. Alot of the stuff they used to play in the stores & on traditional Easy Listening radio is really epic, too
Anyway, don't start thinking you're lame just for playing to Contemporary Orchestra. It simply means you are musically open-minded & have good taste. Make no mistake: the better examples of Contemp Orch utilize the full width & breadth of orchestra, combining synthesizers, acoustic (rock & jazz band) drums, acousic guitar, electric guitar, & electric bass. It is the most advanced music ever made, & learning to keep up with it has dramatically improved my abilities & has also added to the complexity & imaginitiveness of my own original musical works
Believe it or not, I actually owe my transition from being just another rhythmic electric bass player to that of a melodic bass player to _Sounds for the Supermarket._ I would have never grown to that skill level had it not been for that album, & the likes of Floyd Cramer _(Last Date)_ & strangely enough, Guy Lombardo & the Royal Canadians _(Humoresque)._ So, don't quit on shopping music, stay with it! In a few more years you'll see that it's worth it, I promise ✌❤
That music you heard in Kmart back in the 80s in on UA-cam and the internet as well. Just Google "Kmart tapes" and you'll find the music.

exactly
For real I felt that
Completely, also the image with the cartoony paintings look like some preschool classroom, it's just nostaligic in a weird and creepy way
this remembers me of an ad that used to appear in that melancholic days at 4 pm when it was almost sunset, and I turned on the tv and there it was the ad, playing that same song, and I loved it, it used to give me some sort of comfort in thet exact time of the day
Up-key & up-tempoed; a flute lead, accompanied with a cheerful clarinet, electric piano, & metalliphone... Very nostalgic, yes. But melancholy? Sad? To the contrary! 😊💕💕

The funniest thing about this song is the composer. It's the same guy behind the Adiemus songs, the difference between this song and his other compositions is really mindblowing lol
Karl's music for his days with De Wolfe are really just a carrying on of the same style Soft Jazz music he did with his original band, Soft Machine. Soft Machine was his career before he became a resident orchestrator & composor for De Wolfe. But yeah, it's testimony to his creative versatility that his is the same musical mind behind something as musically disparate as Adiemus
There's a handful of other people behind De Wolfe's music who have accessible biographies. Among them are also Andrew May & Brian Alberici, & also Roger Webb. Roger Webb was a a really big deal to the English during the 60s 70s & 80s; a leading name in the field of Contemporary Orchestra. Some other major names in Contemporary Orchestra follow. It's only a handful, but these are people whose entire life was dedicated to this music. Each one has a complete body of work; a lifetime legacy. That means that using any of these names to search UA-cam brings up a rich treasure in song titles. Enjoy!

@@eren7350 😂 Youre funny! After 4 years of being their drummer & vocalist, Robert was the one angry & disappointed when he left Soft Machine in 1970. He was the one who was angry & disappointed when he broke up with the band, but he certainly wasnt vengeful
Soft Machine wasnt dissolved until 1981, the year after Karl began his solo career with London's International Studio Orchestra ("De Wolfe Orchestra"). 1980 is marked by Soft Machine's final album _The De Wolfe Sessions,_ & by Karl's first time composing an album _(Sunny Jim)_ for De Wolfe's orchestra & conducting them. The band had already been through several personnel changes at that point, so evidently band leader John Etheridge made the decision to dissolve the band, when he realized he had to proceed without Karl. This is purely speculation on my part, but it appears that partnering with John on the _De Wolfe Sessions_ project was Karl's way of making ending his relationship with John & Soft Machine a bearable one. They have remained friends, afterall, ever since
Karl reunited with John Etheridge & John Marshall in 1984. 1984 is the last time any original members of the band worked together. John Etheridge re-formed a band in 2015 using the name Soft Machine, but with a lineup of all new members. This newest version of Soft Machine has been active ever since

I feel like there's a huge conspiracy going on, and the majority of the action occurred just three days ago. Who is Plus Crier? What does Sounds for the Supermarket have to do with it? Why did the video get taken down? Why does Karl Jenkins, the supposed original artist, receive no credit in most of the uploads? Why did the person who uploaded the video of the homeless man moonwalking in front of a police incident use one of these songs for the video, and where did that person find out about the song? Is "Plus Crier" even a name?
1. plus crier is someone who isn’t related to jer jae who wanted all the sounds from the supermarkets songs on Spotify and such, 2. there’s not really a connection between crier and sounds for the supermarket, he just wanted the songs on Spotify.
3. nobody knew back then that karl jenkins was the original creator of that specific song, 4. that song had 1+ million views on UA-cam before it got taken down so it’s pretty popular, and he probably used it because of the song becoming a minor meme, 5. plus crier exists somewhere, but it’s most likely an alias.
Hi I'm the creator of the meme and to tell you the truth I tried it with 20 different songs i was going to use the Michael Jackson's "Billie jean" track instead but I let it sit there for about an hour and then I remembered about this song so I worked on the video I even sped up the original video to match with the song so once it was finished I just posted it on our Facebook page and it just blew up from there.

They run down all 4 walls of the market, and there's two rows in the center (filled to capacity with old thrift store items). Nightmarish!

Hey guys. It's a hell of a bummer that the original got taken down, but this is our chance to make UA-cam history again! We'll forge a new comment section, filled with the greatest and most varying comments UA-cam has ever seen! Like WalMart, but with words. It's the new generation's time to carve our name into the soul of UA-cam, and bring this song back to it's former glory, that has and will never leave. They can take this video down as many times as they'd like, but we will start anew as many times as it takes! Who's with me!?
Eh

Can someone tell me why the original video is so praised? (I've never seen it before). Like... how many views did it have?

This song frickin gave me nightmares as a child. I've heard songs with a similar theme, one I've noted being from the carpenters, which remind me of this song. I was trying to remember where I heard this tune when I was growing up, and I never found it, until now. I feel like I heard this before I was born or something, cause I don't remember at any time this song being in a store. Its almost as if I've heard it more than once tho, cause there's no way I would remember this tune just from one listen. Gives me these weird dreams where I'm a small child with a very foggy perception of reality, and I'm in a fake store as if I'm playing pretend, just doing child things. Scares me, a lot, because I feel like sometimes these dreams might have actually happened to me, so realistic.
Such a masterpiece! *ATTENTION COSTUMERS* were now open and back in business!!

hello gnome
I think a lot of people discovered this kind of music because of the meme, which is great. In case anyone is interested in other, similar music, but isn't sure where to look, I can think of some recommendations:
- Werner Tautz and Heinz Kiessling. Between the two of them, they composed most of the music which went on to become the background music for It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Some of my favourites include "Grand Central" by Werner Tautz and "Temptation Sensation" by Heinz Kiessling (which is the main title theme to IASIP).
- Sven Libaek, a film music composer who did a lot of work in the 1970s. Some of his work was later used in Wes Anderson's The Life Aquatic. My favourites include "Thatcherie" (a.k.a. "Open Sea Theme") and "Nature Waltz"
- Henry Mancini, who composed a lot of film scores, and might be best known for the "Pink Panther" theme. However, he composed a lot of well-known themes, among which one of my favourites is the theme from "Newhart" (not to be confused with the theme from the Bob Newhart Show, although I enjoy that as well).
Why the original one was removed from youtube? And i came from the old man dance video
