    Watched the video last night, then popped to the range this morning. Bloke three bays down is hitting a wedge, then doing the dynamic stretches. Half way through he turns and notices me doing the same. Peter Finch? he says, I nod, we go back to what we were doing.
    I now feel like i'm in a secret club......

    The top tracer and the in range driving ranges are game changers, it’s so good to see every shot on screen with data. Even better is having the app and and it saving the data to your phone to analyse later. Really improved my practice!

      I haven’t played golf for over 5 years due to a rotator cuff boxing injury, I went back to the driving range yesterday and was amazed at the level of stats the Toptracer collects and syncs to your phone, truly a game changer!

    Outstanding video Pete! For those golfers that want to get better but live in the real world juggling work, kids, other commitments with often a limited fixed amount of time for golf, it's content like this that has the potential to make a massive difference in the rate at which folks improve, regardless of skill level. Teaching folks the "how" of having a blueprint for their practice with self-directed goals and feedback is often overlooked content.

    Next time, try the simmons theory. Place the ball tray behind the hitter. This will take all those balls out of your vision of sight. Rake or place one ball at a time to a position in front of you. This now is what you see on the T box and fairway. This will now improve your tempo and rhythm as you strike each ball. Practice what you see on the course as too one ball. More tips if your interested. Enjoy your lower scores

    Here goes Finchy. I’ve watched endless videos on how to improve various facets of my golf (only 6 months into the journey, come from a very sporting background and struggling to come to terms with how slowly I’m improving, if I am at all).
    Found a good coach for lessons locally recently but the changes to my grip and swing and very hard work. Ball striking consistently is diabolical and after some rounds I want to pack it in.
    But I know I’m not alone. Need to learn to enjoy golf even when I’m not playing v well, but easier said than done!
    Love the content mate. Keep the gym up 💪

    Loved this! There’s a TopTracer range near me and it’s very hard not to just spend 90 balls on the long drive mode. I use the general warm up to see my shot shapes and try new things. Then I’ll take those feels onto a virtual 9 holes.

    • @Mike-yt7py
      @Mike-yt7py Рік тому

      My only gripe with the virtual golf on top tracer is I'll frequently be 10 yards from the green on my 3rd shot on a par 4 and when I chip it in unless you hole out it'll bogey you even if you drop it within a foot.

    • @xXcharliegoonerXx
      @xXcharliegoonerXx Рік тому

      @@Mike-yt7py it's a weird system that rewards very good shots but punishes average shots. So I've found that if your approach is < 33 yards then you'll have a chance at the chipping mini game. If you're on the green then you can go for any designated flag, with varying levels of difficulty for a birdie. But if you're just off the green, then you only get the very closest pins and you practically have to HIT the pin to get any par or birdie. I still find it fun but it could be integrated better.

    To add to your topic, there is a wonderful video (about 10 minutes long) of Bobby Jones doing a warmup/practice session and his comments are invaluable even today. BTW - I much prefer a range session hitting off of grass. Mats have a much firmer surface and I can't get the clubhead down through the ball as well, so I wind up having to adjust my swing and ball position to compensate.

    Excellent video. I like the structure of it and I got a few ideas for myself. I wish my range had that kind of tech. We're lucky to just have an automatic ball machine. I like to play around the world with varying targets and yardages. My previous coach and I would play around the world but you would put something on it, beer, money, something. If you hit the green move on to the next. If you miss you can risk another one. If you miss again back to the beginning. First one to go all the way around and back wins.

    Love all these tips. 1 thing I do differently though is actually something I got from Fred Cupples. Instead of starting out with wedge, I’ll start with more of a mid iron (7,8or6, alternating every time) As someone who is sore often and also struggles with a bad back like boomboom, I’ve found it works better for getting initially warmed up and limber. Usually something like 7i, pw, 4i, 3wood,driver, first tee club but Like I said though, I’ll alternate the clubs so I don’t wear out/practice with the same clubs every time. ⛳️🧙‍♂️💭

    When I hit balls I just act as if I'm playing the golf course that I'm about to play next and I start out on what would be the 1st hole which is typically a driver. I'll pick a spot and based on how I hit that shot I think go to whatever club I think I'll have into that hole and so on from there. This to me makes much more sense because in a round of golf you NEVER hit the same club twice in a row so I don't see why you ever would on the driving range. I watch guys hit the same iron 15 times in a row and it just doesn't make any sense. It's just what works for me.

    Quality over quantity…more so now that I’m older and can’t hit buckets like I used to. I always had a goal in mind whether it was to hit a certain shot, work on a certain set of clubs, or establish/reinforce rhythm & routine. I usually buy a small bucket of about 40 balls, but will buy a large if I know there’s a couple of things I want to work on and have the time and energy to put in a quality session. Even then I often leave a good number of balls behind. Once I’m satisfied and have hit a few final balls to end on a good note…I leave. If anything, I’ll go work on my short game if I didn’t do that first. The more time I spend on the short game the more I consistently shoot lower scores.
