    Great video i really liked it thanks a lot and the idea with the second usb is really smart never thought of that, i have a question what if you did the same thing you did to the line in but with the line out and in ther recording did the listen to this device as in "secondary rodecaster usb" and plugged the other end of the 3.5 to the ps5 controller would it pick the mic? You'd need ground loop isolator ofc but im just curious if this thing works id buy the rodecaster😂😂, anyway thanks really great video

    Very informative and helpful video! I had the Rodecaster Duo for a few months but ended up selling it a couple weeks ago along with my SM7B. It’s truly an awesome pairing, and the end result sounds amazing but I felt it was just a little overkill for my needs. I don’t stream or create content anymore, and so I really just use the mic for Discord and for podcasting now. I went with an Elgato Wave XLR and an Elgato Wave DX for a much more economical setup, but now you have me thinking I maybe made the wrong choice lol.

      Try connecting game audio directly to XLR2 (through TRS 6.3mm jack interconnector) and configure fader #2 for Line-In input, microphone into XLR1 (fader #1 for your mic type), USB1 chat device to application you want to control through Roadcaster (and of course fader for this device too), USB1 Primary Mix for the sounds coming from the PC to the device and you can assign another virtual fader for the sounds loaded into pads (sampler device). Then you connect USB2 Secondary device to the PC configured as Multitrack/Post-Fader and map all channels as input in streaming software (i.e. OBS)

    Im struggling, I did all this on the rodecaster pro II and everything works great, except OBS isnt capturing the desktop audio as an input. And the only way it does is when I put it as an output. Which, as you said, means you have to control the audio through OBS and not the rodecaster, which i want to control it through my rodecaster. That way I can hear what the audience hears. Any tips on fixing this. I did everything in the video.

    Hello. Can you recommend an audio interface for live broadcast and dubbing? If possible, you can also give microphone advice. My total budget for the audio interface and microphone is $1,000. I don't want to spend more than I need. I'm very undecided and I can't decide whether I should buy a Rodecaster Duo style product or whether the ID14 will do the job as well. I would be happy if you help

    I have been tinkering with my Rodecaster Duo for days now and still can't figure out everything, but I'm getting close. While doing some test streams, I was told by my friend who was helping me test the settings that my game volume was too high. I turned it down on the Rodecaster, but it didn't lower it for the viewers, just me. I had to go into OBS and turn it down from there. I thought you could control output volume levels from those faders. It seems to only change the volume for what I hear in my headphones. Any clue as to why this is?

    • @StreamGearTalk
      @StreamGearTalk  5 місяців тому +1

      I had this same issue. Make sure that your audio sources in OBS (rodecaster main stereo, secondary) are inputs, not outputs. Meaning you need to add them to obs as Input capture device, nit output capture device. This will allow obs to capture the audio levels based on what you set the levels to in the rodecaster. So if the game audio is too loud you can bring your fader down and it will lower the volume in obs as well.

    What I mean is: gaming console -> (jack3.5-jack6.3) -> RCDuo(XLRport2) -> RCDuo(USB2) as Secondary Output for PC to record in OBS.

    Helpful but also a hacky way of making something simple that the GoXLR has (optical and line in port) just wish Rode really thought about these things if they were targeting all audiences

    • @StreamGearTalk
      @StreamGearTalk  5 місяців тому +1

      I think two issues here, ps5 (not sure about series x/s) doesn't have optical (lame) and I also think they weren't thinking of the streamer market when these devices were conceptualized. They made a hard pivot into it recently with launch of Rode X for example. And yes hacky way lol but where there's a will there's a way known what I mean?

    • @lNiizz
      @lNiizz 5 місяців тому

      @@StreamGearTalk yeah new gen doesn't have optical but there are adapters for that which i use with the GoXLR and it works perfect. i tried the RCP2 and it was great but because i'm so use to the routing table and virtual audio that the GoXLR brings it's quite hard to move on from such a device, Rode is so close to being there but just slightly falls short. there are ways to get the Unify software to work with the RCP2/RCD but it's limited to one fader which is yet again close but no cigar. hopefully they make a device that is literally a better GoXLR with all these features plus more in future!

    • @chernobylsurvivr
      @chernobylsurvivr 5 місяців тому

      @@lNiizz I considered getting a goxlr but they pretty much abandoned it and it will eventually stop working or get bugs that won't be fixed and I just couldn't see spending 500+ dollars on something that is no longer supported. Which is really unfortunate because I've heard nothing but good things otherwise.

    • @StreamGearTalk
      @StreamGearTalk  5 місяців тому +1

      Rode did confirm to me that they're currently working on a firmware update to get better unify integration into RCP2/D. So at least we have that to look forward too. There's the 4 faders and 3 virtual channels so definitely cam happen

      FWIW, I typically direct audio through a HomePod (gen1) when watching UA-cam. Re-listened on my phone and found the levels not as loud, but still enough to be distracting (again, imo, and at the same 4:35 mark).
      Also, unrelated note, I find that a lot of speech comes out with more plosives and sibilance when routing through the HomePod. Must be the EQ profile of the HomePod.
