    Been working with the rx100iii for the past couple of years, its been excellent for what I've use it for, but I think its time to dive into a camera with interchangeable lens, for more professional use. A bit nervous (its a big investment), but have been really torn between the a6400, a7iii, and the fuji xt-3. Great inciteful video!

      I'm kinda late here and there's more cameras to consider at this point. But APSC vs full frame just depends on what you want. The Sony APSC cameras are great. And as Matthew pointed out, the glass is a lot cheaper.

      Hi there! I'm lurking here and reading the comments its 2023 and I have to be honest its that the RX100 VII is still awesome. Did You perhaps did the switch and is there something that You would recommend ?

      @@johnkarolcoaching Hey, wow I remember this impasse, it was a huge decision. I actually ended up getting a Nikon Z6 and I love it. However, if you’re just starting out, I have nothing but high praise for the Sony RX100 series of camera. The quality of photos and relative ease of use made it a great choice starting out. I’d suggest getting the best/newest version that you can afford. And a little piece of advice that I look back and wish I knew: don’t get too caught up on comparison videos when choosing your camera. They’re so advanced nowadays that no matter what you choose you’re going to have a fine piece of equipment. To me the choice ultimately came down to which brand I wanted to align myself with and from there I was able to choose which camera I wanted under that specific brand. You’ll find that a lot of photographers are very brand loyal and that’s because when you invest in this equipment you’re gonna want all of your lenses and accessories to work with your future equipment.

    Nice video! F-stop equivalents are not mentioned enough across formats. It's just a problem with the industry. They are NOT the same on different formats. They way they say 'focal length equivalent' they do not generally say 'f-stop equivalent', but we really should It's not just the bigger sensor. The bigger lens combines with the bigger sensor.

    • @CreativeTechLab
      @CreativeTechLab  4 роки тому

      Hey thanks for watching. Yeah in everyday usage the larger sensors on different formats definitely make a difference in the image. However I think peoeple don't talk about it as much because it's a little hard to explain than equivalent focal length. Gerald Undone has a great video to explain: ua-cam.com/video/OaSq0ES1ArE/v-deo.html

    I own a RX100M7, I am thinking of upgrading it to 6400 or 6600 currently. Glad to find your video. I probably will be using RX100 more often while traveling because of its size, but also having a great desire to improve the image quality... Really struggling, but right now, I will probably just wait and see and will make my decision when my next trip is coming up. Thanks for the video, and i liked the way you handled negative comments. Keep it up!

    Nice video! The biggest downside about the RX100 VII for me is the high price tag. This camera has a 1" sensor which in my opinion is a bit small. For example, Huawei P40 Pro has already a 1/1.28" sensor which is definitively smaller then the RX100 VII sensor, but not really by that much and you can get the smartphone for a lot cheaper. Now I know that motorized lenses in the RX100 are probably a lot more expensive and that the ones in Huawei P40 Pro and it has probably better image quality and has generally more control and I know that sensor size is not anything, but I really keep thinking if it is worth to give $1200 for a 1" sensor point and shoot camera.

    • @CreativeTechLab
      @CreativeTechLab  4 роки тому

      Yeah the RX100 is definitely a niche product. At the price tag you really have to value the image quality over a cell. I don't have any experience with the phone you mentioned. However, I will say that the improved low light performance coupled with the extra long zoom range, make it an excellent travel camera. And also great in places you can't carry an interchangeable lens camera like concerts, sporting events, dinners etc.
      All that being said if I had to make the choice today, I'd probably be looking at the ZV-1 as well.

      Thanks for watching. And thanks for the feedback. Yeah this was a little lower than usual. Because I was talking abou the two cameras ai was shooting on my RX100 VI and it was on a small gorilla pod. In the past I would put that gorilla pod on a box to get it a little higher lol. But I think I was so focussed on shooting this and getting it done that I overlooked it. The a6400 sits a little higher, but I'll pay more attention going forward.

      Creative Tech Lab don’t get me wrong, great video! I’m attempting to start my own channel and for this purpose exactly I’m trying to decide between the a6400 and rx100, I love how compact the rx is with its slim metal body, but it seems the color and quality is much better on the a6400... tough one

    • @CreativeTechLab
      @CreativeTechLab  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah it’s definitely a tough choice for those reasons. But I think if you’re going to be creating content, it’s better to go with the a6400 as it will give the best image quality and more flexibility with different lens choices.

      @@CreativeTechLab Hy, i would be interested with the 18-135 sony lens atteched to the a 6400 because it is the closest focal length about. what do you think, in that case is it worth going to the aps-c? will that lens have better portrait capabalities, if compared to the rx100va, if i would like carrying a sony 6400 with 18-135mm instead of the rx100va and rx100vii, because those 2 added together is about the same weight. :D

    Great video! I grabbed an A6400 and i'm questioning whether to just switch to an RX100 VII mostly because half the time i'm traveling and having less weight on me always helps, and if I only have one free hand, grabbing the VII would be easier to start up and operate vs the A6400.
    Is any of the footage graded? at 14:40, the color looks better on the A6400. If it's not graded, i'm thinking that the RX100 can be graded to match the A6400 out of the box.

    • @CreativeTechLab
      @CreativeTechLab  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching. The RX100 is definitely easier to carry, so if being mobile is your primary concern then it would be the right choice. But I must also say that the right lens on the 6400 does get some vastly superior image quality. So you just have to prioritize between the two.
      As far as the color grade. Yes there’s a LUT on all the footage in this video. The clip you’re referring to, both cameras are in HLG, but i just kinda added some contrast to each clip. With a little more work you could get the Rx colors to match the 6400.
      Hope that helps.

    Having watched many online reviews I was nearly sold on the RX100 M7 until I saw your footage comparisons with the Sony A6400. Were you using an ND filter on the 6400? The RX100 M7 looked over exposed compared to the 6400. I mainly shoot on full auto so that was a real downside for me. Have I missed something or did you make manual adjustments to the 6400? Maybe I have to go the 6400 route now. In that respect, do you think the Sony 18-135mm lens is good and sharp? Many thanks for the various reviews I've seen of yours.

    • @CreativeTechLab
      @CreativeTechLab  4 роки тому

      Thanks for watching. Yes I was using NDs on both cameras. It was a Gobe ND filter on the a6400. I tried to match the setting on the RX100 to the A6400 and that's how it came out. I love the RX100, but if overally image quality is what you're after then get the 6400.
      I don't have experience with the 18-135, but I've heard good things. But if you're going to be shooting video I'd recomment looking at 18-105 f/4. I have a review on that as well. ua-cam.com/video/nh-TKBSoOrQ/v-deo.html
