  • More or less plug-and-play, with some caveats caused by the brilliant engineering decisions of Honda in the 2000s. Set the speed to 1.25 - 1.5x as needed, and enjoy.
    12:20 - 12:51 has no sound for some reason...Sorry about that. Basically describing removing that shroud around the top screen, just a couple bolts need to be taken out.
    Specs: 8in double din, Android 10, 2GB ram, 16GB rom
    Backup Cam Install: • 2010 Honda Accord - Ba...
    Additional information/experiences (credits and Huge thanks to ‪@wiimaster2847‬ for the write-up in the comments!):
    - Vehicles with premium sound have an extra subwoofer/amp/etc, along with an extra connector on the back of the radio. Reconnect this connector to prevent any popping noises coming from the speakers when the factory radio turns on/off
    - Regarding steering wheel controls: Some variations of these android headunits support steering wheel controls that work both on the Android headunit and the factory radio simultaneously, while others seem to support one or the other.
    Be mindful in checking the harnesses in your kit for a little black plastic connector on one of the
    harnesses that goes from vehicle to factory radio
    and vehicle to android headunit.
    If you find the male connector on the vehicle side of the harness hooked up to the female connector on the Android headunit side of the harness, you may need to swap it over to the female connector on the factory radio side of the harness to restore steering wheel controls to the factory radio.
    - If you have an EX-L, you'll also have seat heater
    switches to disconnect when removing the center
    trim piece, in addition to the 12V outlet plug
    mentioned in the video at 3:55
    - You may also opt to mount the GPS antenna on a metal brace to the left of the lower pocket where the
    factory radio display is relocated to. Users are reporting GPS lag where it takes several minutes for the GPS to register a signal (and consequently synchronize time) when the vehicle is first turned on, which doesn’t seem to have a fix. Please reach out and comment if you have further information on this.
    - By default, these units appear to not support FM
    radio through the Android headunit, you'll have to
    rely on the factory radio for that. You can hack
    together a setup that allows you to use FM radio on
    both units, but the easy solution would require you
    to pick one or the other and use an antenna adapter.

    I just had mine installed at a Best Buy electronics garage shop charged me 250 for the install not bad I mean if I knew how I would’ve done it myself but so far best 250 I’ve spent in a while looks absolutely great in my 2011 EX-L coupe and they installed a reverse camera as well with a wide angle shot and a remote start and proximity key!!! For an extra 60 so 310 total absolutely LOVE IT!!

    Nice video. I did this install using a Podofo unit last May in our 2012 EX-L V6 sedan. I learned a lot of things doing the install that aren't really documented elsewhere so I figured I'd mention some things:
    - Things will differ slightly if you have the model with premium sound. It has an extra subwoofer and amp and all that, so it has an extra connector on the back of the radio. I left this connector disconnected at first and had a pop sound from the speakers when the factory stereo was turning on/off. I went back in and reconnected it, it was all good after that.
    - One of the biggest wildcards with this whole thing is steering wheel controls. Some variations of this unit support steering wheel controls that work both on the Android headunit and the factory radio at the same time, but the one I had only seems to support one or the other. By default, the harness that came with mine was set up for controls on the Android headunit, which I didn't want. The solution to this involves a little black plastic connector on one of the harnesses that goes from vehicle to factory radio and vehicle to android headunit. In my case, the male connector on the vehicle side of the harness was hooked up to the female connector on the Android headunit side of the harness, so I just had to swap it over to the female connector on the factory radio side of the harness and it restored steering wheel controls to the factory radio.
    - If you have an EX-L, you'll also have seat heater switches to disconnect when removing the center trim piece, in addition to the 12V outlet plug mentioned in the video.
    - I chose to mount the GPS antenna on a metal brace to the left of the lower pocket where the factory radio display is relocated to. I do have the GPS lag where it takes several minutes for the GPS to register a signal (and consequently synchronize time) when the vehicle is first turned on, but I don't think this is something that can be fixed.
    - By default, these units appear to not support FM radio through the Android headunit, you'll have to rely on the factory radio for that. You can hack together a setup that allows you to use FM radio on both units, but the easy solution would require you to pick one or the other and use an antenna adapter.

      I didn't notice the peelable plastic on both sides at first, only one side, so I peeled that off a bit later, but the plastic still has these weird marks that look almost like air bubbles when you install a screen protector on a phone. Doesn't look the greatest but it gets the job done so it is what it is.

      @DudePingu  5 місяців тому

      Hey there, glad you enjoyed the video. Feel free to sub if you want to see similar content in the future as well :)
      So a few things here...It sounds like your radio issues may be caused by a fault in the antenna connection/placement, I'd recommend trying to adhere that small radio/antenna module (it looks like a small black square) in the upper area of the empty cavity behind the android head unit under the dash, as well as making sure the cable is securely fastened to the appropriate connector on the back of the head unit itself; the same type of issue could possibly be affecting the GPS antenna connection/placement as well.
      On these generic android head units you should be able to scroll through the apps to find TLink already installed, which (depending on the hardware specifications of your head unit) may provide wired or wireless CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, and maybe even mirroring. Then again, this is assuming the unit you purchased advertised these capabilities in their description as there are a Lot of different choices for the more popular vehicles (for example, for the Honda Accord 08 - 11 I believe there were various configurations from Android 10 to Android 12, from 2GBram to 32GBram, etc).
      Newer versions of Android may also require more ram for better performance, which would ideally be factored in when considering a purchasing decision.
      But in any case, if all else fails you may be able to share these issues with the seller. Working on another vehicle I had a unit with a ram failure, and the seller provided a replacement, so depending on the seller customer service could be there. But YMMV.
      I'll pin this comment so others can chime in with their experience as well. Hope this helps!

      Hey there, I’ve seen similar comments and it seems that (probably) one of these chinese manufacturers are shipping head units without proper grounding implemented. I have not run into this issue, however you can always try to ground the headunit. Ymmv
      I believe most plastics are insulators (including the dash), but if you have some spare wire at a sufficient length you should be able to find bare metal in the cavity below the head unit.

    At night when you turn on the lights of your car, turn on the lights of the original stereo? I mean all the buttons and do they function? I ask because I barely installed mine and I realized when I was driving the vehicle at night and I wanted to turn on the heater and I saw that each button could not be identified because it lost the lighting. I don't know if it was because of the screen that was installed.

    Yo so I looked through your videos and still don’t see the backup cam install video. You still going to make it?
    I’ve installed this stereo and everything works well but having some problems getting the backup cam to turn on when I shift the car into reverse. Crazy thing is, I tested the backup camera in a feature the stereo has that allows you to view the front and rear camera at any time. I moved the plug from the CVBS-IN-1 to another yellow cable that wasn’t labeled and it came up but no matter which yellow female plug I plug the backup cam into, it won’t trigger and come up on the screen.
    I did some research and apparently you have to connect the red wire that’s hanging to the backup cam wire, but I’m not finding the correct wire to connect the red wire to at the back of the stereo.
    Also, I hear the noise people are talking about when I’m not playing music and sometimes when I am playing music. I’m sure it’s a ground problem, however I’m not completely sure which blue wire I should ground just yet.
    If you could make that backup cam install video, that would be great. I know we’re all busy out here tho. Thanks 🙏🏾

    • @DudePingu
      @DudePingu  5 місяців тому

      Hey there. On the head unit I believe that red wire would connect to the wire labeled “reverse”, which should activate when the car is shifted into reverse. The yellow wire should output a signal when plugged into the female yellow RCA jack labeled CVBS. I have not experienced the noise issue some folks are getting from the AUX inputs, hopefully someone can share their fix in the comments.
      Edit: Uploaded my backup cam installation recently but it looks like you got it sorted. Glad it worked out for you! Thanks for watching 👍

    • @DudePingu
      @DudePingu  6 місяців тому

      Hey there…An earth sound? So, a buzzing? Check if the proper source (AUX) is selected, though it’s still difficult to determine without seeing it myself.
      But from there, I’d start by taking a look at the RCA connections (ensuring the connector is fully inserted in the headunit, the male/female leads, and their destination), as they may have shaken loose or not be fully connected.
      If they are fully connected and the buzz still persists, it may be a grounding issue. You can attempt to run the ground from the stereo harness off the radio on to a chassis ground, if that works the issue is probably the harness ground on the headunit.

    • @DudePingu
      @DudePingu  11 днів тому

      Hey there, I believe the head unit’s wiring harnesses are independent of the A/C harness (at least they are on the 2010 model in this video). The AC harness usually connects directly behind the AC vents there, some folks forget to connect that harness and lose all AC controls (no lights, etc).
      If that harness is plugged in correctly and still does not respond to any of the AC buttons, the wiring harness itself could be faulty. But since you mentioned it works with the original radio, it could just be a loose connection.

      It’s a little complicated to explain without a visual example, however depending on the kit you receive you should be able to screw the head unit and the provided mounting bracket together, then mount it in that space above the radio. In the kit I received they provided a bracket for another head unit which did not fit, so I had to get creative with longer screws and make my own solution. Hey there. Not sure exactly what brand it was, though to my knowledge all these generic android head units are basically the same (with different memory configs ofc). Android 10, and it was actually 2gx16g I believe…Plenty fast for the owner’s usage, if I recall

      Hey there, I do have canbus functioning with steering wheel controls retained. Depending on the head unit you purchased I believe ymmv on whether or not it will work with your vehicle after installation

      What does the decoder let you access? Just the steering wheel controls?

    Hi! I just purchased this one for my Honda accord as well, my issue is that no sound comes out🥹 If I turn the radio on it works, but once I put music from my phone or the tablet itself, there's no sound. Does anyone know how I can fix it??? Please🥹

      Choose the aux option on your control unit then you should get sound

      Right, assuming her wiring is correct there should be sound output when Aux is selected

      SUPERHERO 🙌🏼 The audio only play out of aux mode which can only be accessed from the OEM radio. It won’t allow you to access it without OEM audio Wire attached.. You need a RCA-Aux cable. The aftermarket audio cables(smaller grey split cable) towards the top won’t work& they don’t tell you…. Your Factory radio won’t recognize the aux without the OEM cable. The RCA-Aux Y cable, will plug up to the Aux Out Red/Wht LR behind the monitor, DIRECTLY into the arm rest Aux port… Took me 6hrs 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽but it works like hell 🥹🙌🏼🙌🏼 screw the guys who don’t hit you back in the comments when they post half ass videos 😒😒
