Carrying things. Since it's winter, know that leggings are warm, but have you considered wearing military BDU pants that have the cargo style pockets? Maybe wear them over the leggings? You can carry a TON of stuff in them, great for phones, etc. They're made to fight in so bending, stretching and climbing isn't a problem, as well they're design to be easy to clean, just wash. Ripstop is the lightweight summer type that breathes. The heavier weight is winter gear. They even have ECW (Extreme Cold Weather) over pants that have removable insulated lining for wading in the snow. They squash down to normal pant size for storage but your legs won't get cold unless you're in Alaska. LOL. Those BDU are similar to FedEx cargo pants but built tough and long wear so get your money's worth. Comfortable as heck too.

@@ShelbyHBTM BDU will fit. They even got them down to XS size and you can do side kicks, yoga or be a ballerina in those things. No need for belt (has loops if like one) cause has side adjust tabs and cinch strings at bottom of legs in case you run into army ants. Even the military don't like ants in the 👖 pants, make you dance. If you wear boots, tuck them in. Double stitched at seams, extra reinforced in seat & knees for sliding, kneeling, etc. LOL. They last about 5-10yr with normal wear. Come in black, tan, green, all kinds of camo patterns. Urban camo with the grey black & white is cool. Any military surplus store would have. The issue toboggan or watch cap is lot better than some the normal ones as it breathes, no hot or cold head. Duffle bags last for YEARS. Heavy duty. EWACS gear like thermals and jackets designed to survive it all. Be handy for Dakota's, Montana and cold areas. Don't wear out with constant washing for long time. Seriously though the gear holds up better than most all civilian stuff, except maybe Columbia. 511 Tactile has some cool ladies wear stuff too but doesn't last as long.

Oil is Oil. Period. What make every oil different is the ADDITIVES they put in it to make it their own. Some hold patents on specific oil. If you ever look at the bottom of a white 5 gallon pail of oil, you will see sediment collected. That is the secret additives that fell out of the oil by setting to long on the shelf. This you want in your motor. So when you used half of your pail, shake the shit out of the pail to mix that up, then pour it into your motor. Once a year all oil is gone through rigorous inspection, Shell did not pass on the first or second time. Mobil make a very good comparison oil.

Sometimes you have to fight to prove the air leak. Do an air brake test and film the guage and show the drop in pressure is significant. The compressor may sit too close to the drivers side under the cab (depending on your truck) and it's a hard place to find an air leak. I once had my entire air hose blow off the compressor and that was a fun time lol. :)

If one actually understands and embraces the multigenerational approach to sustainable business and family, planning for the day you are no longer here is one of the greatest gifts you can give those that follow. The number of businesses (and unfortunately families) that collapse following the unexpected demise of the one person is truly tragic and most often totally unnecessary. One must assume the worst, hope for the best and equip those that follow with the knowledge and tools to deal with whatever.

This is so true, funny how many people do their jobs and have their unforeseeable affairs in order. So far as a floridian there aren't that many choices on great companies companies with good jobs. Is a strange thing how the road calls, is what we love and we pay a high price for it,, I know I could do something else but is not the same, many don't prepare for our final departure, we always think we are returning in one piece.
Time passes by quickly and we deteriorate as trucks do and we're at a daily higher risk than someone behind a desk, so your content is right on the spot, most don't think about it, you are a very smart young lady giving great advice to the old and experienced drivers who never prepared themselves.
    GREAT CONTENT!!

Great to see ya back hear on the channel!! Yes, estate planning is very important as I have recently had to manage my Dads estate and It wasn't completed at the time of his death. I would also insert here that anyone who still have there loved ones with them, tell them you love them and visit them as much as you can!! You can never show it enough. OK......... As a former heavy equipment hauler (that still carries my class A) I really enjoy your videos and mindset. You appear to be very skilled in your profession and very knowledgeable! Maybe as I near early retirement, I could come over and drive for you? (Trying to figure out my own future huh?) Take care out there and be safe my friend.

Shell Rotella ....it's all I use in my trucks AND Equipment. Have used it for 20 plus years. Great product. Never had an issue. And I always say.....Take care of your Truck and it will take care of you. And yes.... little problems become big problems if you don't take care of them ....that goes for Life as well 😆

I realize your wearing many hats in your company, so down time are far in between.

Just got my Cdl in November, started with a company, training is okay could be better, rt 80 west was icy couple days ago. Ended up jackknifing the truck.
    (No other vehicle was involved)
What should I do now as I sit here on suspension?

    • @tmo.48
      @tmo.48 2 роки тому

I am sorry to hear about that. Are you able at some point to come off of suspension, and then get back to work with the same company? It is an awful thing to be doing your best and then have ice mess up things. We're you alone in truck when it jackknifed? You are very blessed to be ok.

Shelby, I knew why your truck didn't start before I seen the paperwork. The right stark switch error. I've had the same code come up on a company 19, 21 and now my 22 Freightliner. It's going to come up again. To get your truck started, if you have a battery cut off switch turn that off for five minutes or disconnect your negative posts on your batteries for five minutes eliminating power to your truck and it will start. No need for a tow. Have a wonderful day!

@Jim Eagle. good luck and best wishes on your trucking career, please choose wisely on your choice of carriers that you plan to drive for.
Me personally am not a fan of the larger carriers, I got my start at the Crash and Roll Academy in S.L.C., I only lasted four months there, fortunately I had paid for my training up front so I didn't have a black mark on my record for leaving early.
I put in 22yrs pulling OTR refrigerated, 21yrs of it for the same company.
A small stroke that affected my eyesight has taken me off of the road.
      Take care and best wishes.

Back when I drove it was a lonely job on the road and just having something like even a camera to talk to would make you feel connected.
