I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American. Until I was 19, I shot the ball TWO-handed! I don't know how any of them went in. I also frankly could have used glasses and contacts since 11th grade. When I was 19, I finally developed a ONE-handed shot. In 1994, I got glasses and contacts. With contacts, and shooting like Dale Ellis, my shooting got IMMENSELY better!
one of the most underrated shooters in history only made 1 all star team and 1 all nba team but he was a straight bucket who held the 3pt record until Reggie Miller broke it and was 2nd all time in 2000 when he retired
His ability shoot coming off a pick while moving away from the basket is uncanny. Quiet and smooth. He was awesome away from the ball. He could fit in any offense because he didn't have to hold the ball much to score. Dude can be the perfect #2 while putting up #1 numbers. If your #1 can reliably break his man down, you rotate the ball to Dale Ellis and it's lights out. His footprint is light but his productivity is high. In other words for the amount of time the ball is actually in his hands, he scores a lot of points. He contrasts incredibly well to James Harden. He is like Vinnie Johnson in that regard, but more fluid and with greater range. How deep was Dallas that they could part with this guy? No salary cap in those days, so you had stacked rosters.
I can't believe I was spoiled to watch two of the greatest strokes in sports history, in person, at the same time. Dale "the Silent Assassin" Elllis, and Ken Griffey, Jr.
@@marcelissah6275 no he doesn't little buddy he was already about to retire when they moved the 3p line! And they only moved the 3p line to the distance of the current corner 3p which is hands down the most common 3p taken today.
its weird watching old basketball. They look slow and unathletic. shooting wide open 2pts and instead of taking the step back for the 3. This guy had a great a shot.... and even in the comp video you can see he should of shot more 3s!
No. That's what's wrong with basketball now. Too many 3s. Its the worst shot in the court. You shoot better from the field and are now efficient when you don't just jack them up all day
One of the most underrated player in nba history. One of the greatest shooters all time without question
Underrated for sure ✨
He held the 3pt record for a while and you hardly hear of him. I’m glad there’s highlights of him on yt
Imagine him playing today.
Laker fan here….Ellis was a straight up cold blooded killer. That stroke was a thing of beauty!

Ellis was a bucket 🔥
Truth!
I could watch him shoot all day. Best release I've ever seen.
Absolutely! His form is text book
Dale Ellis great shooter how doesn't get enough credit period.
He was with Dallas fist before he got traded to Seattle
That jump shot was butter
When Larry Bird names you as one of the best shooters of all time, you must've been pretty deadly
Would thrive in todays nba
Dale Ellis, Ray Allen, Larry Bird, Chris Mullins and Dirk Nowitzki sweetest stroke in NBA history.
Left out Reggie miller
Pure....
This is what Curry's career would have been like if he played in the 80's. He'd be a lightskin Dale Ellis.
Curry is more like Mahmoud Abdul Rauf
Klay.
#BRINGBACKMYSONICS
When Larry bird throws your name out there as one of the greatest.....
Nobody talks about Dale Ellis why

This guy was a better shooter than Bird.
This dude was one hell of a shooter 😲. My gosh his jumper was wet
nice yrack at 1:23 minutes in slick track
Imagine this cat in todays era!!!
Could he do also different things or only shoot? He reminds me of klay Thomson!!!!
Fun fact; Ellis had two four point plays in one game.
For all those youngsters calling Steph the greatest shooter of all time..... Dale Ellis! Nuff said!
This guy couldn’t hold stephs jock strap
@@lorenzoidrogo8918 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This guy shoots from the high school 3 pt line and don’t ever compare him to Steph 😁
Lol, Steph not even the best shooter in the Curry household

According to Larry Bird He was the best shooter ever
Today, if he played in this nba, all these fanboys would say he’s better than MJ….

In 89 he Shot 47% from 3
80s NBA had some phenomenal athletes, handchecking prolly made em kinda look that way.
