I know I'm 4 years late, but to whoever is looking at this, you do not need to remove anything from the engine bay, such as a motor mount nor the air box.

This is the 1.8L LUW engine? I really don't think you have to remove the engine mount. You should be able to unbolt the top, loosen the bottom bolt, rotate the alternator down, then remove the top bolt.

Hi Jeff95TA. You will have to drop the engine down. You don't have to remove the entire mount. You can remove the 3 bolts that attach the engine to the mount but the engine will have to come down. The bolt that goes through the top is about 4 inches long and there is not enough room to pull the bolt out far enough towards the frame to get it out, even to try to rotate it down.

@@thedrivewaygreasemonkey2347 Was it a manual or automatic? I'm curious what's different about this one. Unless there's something odd about 2012. Regardless, you got it done!

@@jeff95ta83 It was an automatic. Yeah it's really tight in there. I could get the bolt out towards the frame about an inch and a half and then it hit the frame. Aside from that it went right in and was a fairly easy one to replace. Honestly I spent more time fooling around with the damn shields, which really sucked by the way..:)

I did the alternator on a 2013 last night. Pulled top bolt out until it hit the frame:

Rotated alternator down with bolt still in it:

Removed lower bolt and pulled alternator out with top bolt still in it:
