I’m not saying this to be mean, or snarky, just honest. Why??? Why would you do this? Your hair is currently so gorgeous, and you admitted your hair texture does not really suit the butterfly cut, so, why??? A better example would be to NOT do it, because you know your hair.
Hi Gabi. I love your current hairstyle very much. I would suggest if you want to go ahead with the butterfly haircut perhaps do it on a wig. If you do decide to cut your own hair then I know you will do a fantastic job as that is just how awesome you are.

I have had this cut most of my adult life and love it. I have a lot of hair so this helps thin it out and allows it to be much more manageable and not as heavy! Love it! Best haircut ever for my hair!

I was in six grade and I wanted her hair cut. I did go to hairstylist but even though I brought a picture she didn’t execute it right. She tried but I think it was more the styling that she messed up. I was that young but I think my crafty brain knew she didn’t have the technique. That’s why I mostly cut my own hair and I am a diy for a lot of things 😉

Absolutely love the style. Got the face framing done and still letting the back grow longer. I have bangs so letting that grow longer also.
I did the Brad Mondo cut on myself 2 days ago after seeing your other video inspiration Gabi, and I've gotten tons of compliments. If you do it, he emphasizes having the front pony tail pinned almost between the eyebrows and that's the way I did mine. I also did the part that separates the 2 pony tails just behind my ears instead of at or in front of the ears. I love it.

I asked for the Farrah Fawcett hairstyle, the stylist looks at me and says,”Who is a Farrah Fawcett ?” It was too funny. I thought at my age to go to cosmetology school. I would start with the Farrah Fawcett hairstyle. You know a good stylist knows it all. My sister likes the octopus hair style.
I would rather do it myself. Every time I go to the salon with pics it's never cut right.

Gave myself bangs during the lockdowns in 2020 then gave myself a long shag soon after this (thank you Brad Mondo). In 2021 I asked a hairdresser to butterfly cut it, took pics with me and she did a beautiful job (Melbourne, Australia). My hair is fine to medium but have a lot of it so you can do it if it's fine but you need to have enough hair. Have soft waves naturally and I absolutely love the movement this cut gives me!

I gave myself a ponytail wolf cut last August and it didn't look too bad. Then in November I freestyle cut my hair (I always use hair scissors) and it was more difficult and took just over an hour but turned out pretty good. Now that my style has long been grown out, I'm counting down the weeks until my debt is gone so I can pay a stylist to do it for me and save myself the tension.

I did the Brand Mondo Butterfly cut. it turned out amazing.. However, you do want to make sure you have the placement exactly where he says otherwise you get something else. Also having the hair wet is a must.
My hair which is curly, works better cut dry. If they cut it wet, they have to overcompensate for the curl with leaving exaggerated length.

I came across Summer's tutorial a couple days ago while contemplating chopping my hair lol!!
I am turning 59 Friday and grew my hair almost to my belt all one length the longest I ever had it. I wore it blond for about 20 years but naturally a medium brown. I am also a past hairdresser but haven't done other peoples hair in over 20 years decided during Covid in 2020 to grow my hair and stop bleaching it so went back to my natural brown color plus grey every 4/6 weeks. and to make a super long story short. I did the butterfly cut on myself twice, The first time it was good, lots of face framing layers and my hair in the back was still long. Last week I decided to go a bit shorter face framing layers to my chin angle back with a med length almost to my bra length so fun to style so much more volume and now tempted to do some highlights again. But it is a fun cut and to be honest pretty easy to do.
During the pandemic, my hair grew to my knees. Normally I wear it waist length. I never had it that long ever. I had weirdos following me around at Walmart and everywhere. It was a weird thing. Extra long hair stalkers? I don't know. I was relieved to finally get in to get it trimmed up.

A wig could potentially work! The only issue is that wigs are like $1000.00. I also don't want to ruin my beautiful wigs. HAHA

Great vid, Can you do a video on how to cut this - not the Brand Mondo way! for someone with uber long hair. Mine is very long and down my back. Would love more movement and layers (it is very thick) but do not want to lose the length. The ponytail cut technique seems to work best for mid length to shoulder lenght. Thank you!
Btw I use a pair of scissors my kids used in school when I need to trim my bangs 😂 you should see-I mean hear-my hair dresser when it is time for a hair cut !

Yes, This butterfly cut aka Farrah Fawcett was very popular in the 70's. I have a version of that now again and I'm in my early 60's. My hair is and always has been thin so I don't really layer it much in the back. I am going to see if the pony tail hack works tonight, I'll do a touch up on my hair.

It’s a beautiful cut, but it took me so long to get all my hair in one length (I had a lot "unwanted" layers because of breakage after I went blonde - but I went back to my natural colour) that I wouldn’t want to cut anymore layers in it! When I’m styling my hair straight, I now flip my flat iron inwards to give it a faux blowout effect 😉 It may not have all the layers, but it has a similar vibe as the butterfly cut. It also makes my blunt mid-length hair look thicker at the bottom 🙌🏻
I also love a blunt cut. If you have fine hair, it makes your hair look so so so much thicker. I had a blunt Bob forever. This cut isn’t for everyone.

So you can modify styles. This is hard to describe in words, I have a shag, and to keep my length in the back, the stylist parted and clipped off the back of my hair, in a big section, just past my ears. She layered the front, the ends being long layers to match the back. The back she just layered the bottom 2 inches. Then it all blended together.
I have to admit, I did Brad Mondos little trick and ended up chopping about 14 inches off. So much regret. I cried 😢

I have fine, shoulder length hair, medium density, definitely thinner than your hair. I did the wolf cut ponytail method and it looked great - actually made my hair look thicker, with more volume!! so, I think that the butterfly cut should work too, but I haven't tried it yet. The reason I did the cut myself is because hairstylists always fuck up my hair...I don't know anything about hair cutting , but some primitive ponytail method, done by myself gave me much better results than haircuts done by professionals in the most expensive salons...

The butterfly cut works great on thick thick hair and I've watched many women successfully execute this cut using brad mondo pony tail technique. I think you need to really have a lot of hair and it needs to be really long for this to look good. It is really pretty and a real throwback! I thought those curtain bangs were very Farrah 😊
