Gabi!! Because of you I had my hair extensions taken out after wearing them for 30 years!! Following your advice my hair is healthier and shiny, even though after taking extensions out, it looks thinner. But you gave me the courage to let go of them and my hair stylist was shocked. @@sunshineeveryday9873 everyone’s hair is different and CGM pushes everyone to follow the same “rules”. If you try CGM, listen to your hair and don’t keep pushing through if it doesn’t seem to be for you. Some hair needs sulphates to properly cleanse and silicones to avoid damage from extreme tangles. Quite a few factors to consider. Good luck!

@@Exactly!! My gray hair is so dry & frizzy!! I used to have silky Pantene Pro-V looking hair until the gray came in. 😂
BUT, back then it was flat and now it at least has volume and holds a curl (which is good because I lost a lot of hair last year, but the curls make it look full).
I used to color my grays with HerbaTint, but then I switched to a semi permanent henna color, Surya Braysil, but it’s still growing out dry and frizzy. Thankfully curling it makes it look nice for a while.
I typically curl it with only 2-4 sponge rollers at night, or, if I want to endure it looks nice, a spiral curler on the lowest heat setting.

It's fine, spent most of my life getting highlights since around 17 years old. :( This is the longest stretch for me since my last highlights were last summer, I have grow out, and I am thinking about going back soon to the salon for a spring fix. I've held off because of the damage I've done in the past. I've also noticed that my hair has thinned during the pandemic, perhaps aging and combined with being in the health field and have had to wear a surgical cap, shield and protective eyewear, since the start of the pandemic. I am hoping to try some of your product suggestions to hopefully get some improvement ! Thank you for all the tips ! From Ontario, Canada XO

I wanted to try color blocking this year but cancelled my appointment because the thought of going back to damage just totally freaks me out now. It takes FOREVER to grow out.

Thanks Gabi for your tips! I have fine hair that has miniaturized on the crown of my head. Basically the hairs on top of my head are much shorter than the ones in the back and they stop growing past a certain point. I know there’s a genetic component but my hair still frustrates me sometimes. Thank god I have an amazing hairdresser that works with what I’ve got (keeping my hair shorter so it doesn’t show as much). I’ve tried everything to help my hair grow out in that area (quality shampoos, PRP injections, laser caps, blood work to rule out any hormonal issues, collagen supplements, silk pillowcases, etc.) I finally met with a dermatologist and he suggested rogaine, finasteride or a hair transplant but I’m not sure I want to go down either of these routes…

Nothing really helps the growth but keratin treatment help with the frizz that has developed along with the lack of growth/weak hair.

I don't even know where to begin lol okay so in 2020 I got sick and tired of my damaged shoulder length hair. It's almost black so I bleached it a lot to get funky colors, vampire red by manic panic was my favorite. Anyway, I ended up shaving it completely off...👨🏻‍🦲.... because it was fried and didn't look good at all. Fast forward to now, it's back to shoulder length but I still have issues with it. It is a lot healthier now and haven't colored it at all. I still heat style my hair though and I did purchase a blow dryer brush because of you and it's honestly my favorite hair tool. The problem I have is my hair is very frizzy and dry for some reason. Also, it breaks so much, it drives me insane. I thought shaving my hair off would be great so I can get a totally fresh start and have really amazing healthy beautiful hair eventually but it definitely doesn't seem like it now that it's growing out. Boo hoo lol

Hey! Okay it could be a couple of things - environment and water! My hair is in GREAT shape now (the healthiest it has ever ever been to be honest and SUPER shiny) but I was in the Dominican Republic last week and my hair felt like straw. I was using the same products, blowing it out with the same hot air brush I always use (TYMO) and washing it with the same shampoo and it was a literal puff ball. It was because the water was so hard and the environment was SUPER humid. Where do you live and what kind of water do you have? If you're following all of the tips, I BET it has something to do with humidity and water.

Hi Gabi, I so so love your videos. I just turned 68 and trying to embrace my silver hair! I am(was )a very dark brunette, actually my hair looked navy blue when I was younger. I colored my hair for 35 years and finally decided I was done with going to the hair salon every four weeks. My problem now is that I have discovered that I have a cowlick on the back of my head and thinning fine wavy hair. Is there anything that can help with this cowlick that never was a problem before and now shows itself to ALL who see the back of my head! It is fine when I blow dry after shampooing but each and every day I have to style and blow dry! I refer to it as "my bald spot"! Please keep up with your excellent videos....I am a huge fan!

However, one thing I've always struggled with, that I don't hear alot of people talk about, is having oily hair and a dry scalp. Idk how that's even possible but the struggle is real, unfortunately.

It’s embarrassing at my age of 48 that I still don’t know how to take care of my hair. I’ve had a few surgeries and now going through menopause my hair is thinning. It used to be so thick. I never thought I would have this problem. I’m struggling to get my hair to grow. I have fine and extremely curly hair. I use very hot tools for drying and styling. My scalp can be itchy but I usually don’t have dandruff and occasionally have a very “tender” scalp. I can’t wait to try these products and try your ideas. As stylist we tell ourselves that we should have known better when damaging our hair, but the reality is that choosing this industry naturally comes with an experimental instinct, and we will always experiment on ourselves first. Even over time and with more experience we might give into an urge to try something we haven't, be inspired by something we see, or the most fun one - forgetting that something didn't work for us from the distant past and trying it again (😱😭), that can cause damage. We of course beat ourselves up about it but I think that our natural tendency to push the limits and try new things is why we can fall into the trap again and that is nothing to be ashamed of 🙂

Even when I use heavy creams... everything... its still so poofs. It looks so stupid unless I straighten it. It's depressing. It's fine hair too so you'd expect it to get weighed down easily... nope. Even when it feels incredibly soft It's still poofy. I cannot win :(
I use masks, I use protein. I hydrate. I use minimum heat. I try no heat. I use high quality products (redken/olaplex). I am just absolutely exhausted.

I know, damage beyond damage. But I didn't stop there. I Then spent the rest of the summer frolicking in the sun at the beach swimming like I was a damn mermaid in the ocean soooo... Yeah, well here I am almost a year later trying everything under the sun to save my hair except that, like you, I have superfine frizzy hair and girl, without heat styling!? ... Forget it, I look crazy scary. So on top of thinning, aging hair & my already naturally long wicked fine frizzy hair needing heat styling to just go out and check my mail, it's severely damaged, dry, brittle, weak with more split ends than I care to count and now I look wayyy older than I did a year ago . I buy and use expensive, quality hair care products. I don’t blow dry my hair often or use heat styling tools but I still have this issue. I try not to pull my hair back tightly in the elastic bands.
It seems like if I use too much of a product to control my hair issues, then I will have to shampoo everyday to keep my hair from looking oily and limp but if I don’t use enough product then I battle the dry, frizzy, poofiness! 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️ It gets to the point where I just say, “ another product-another day”!
