Rebooting Starlink from the app sometimes help with ping and ping spikes! Great video man I play all the time and get from 30ms at the lowest 50-60 average and when highly congested 100-125. Loving my Starlink so far!
hey man I am a competitive player for games like csgo, valorant, tf2. You know, the games where ping basically determines every single fight. I have the time to play for most hours of the day and or night, how often is the spikes? And when you say you get 50-60 ping average, is that across the board? No matter where you put it, it will always average around there?

Not gonna lie you have totally made me put an investment into van building. I already bought a couple of solar panels. It's not a lot, but it's a start! One less thing to have to worry about. The only thing that I am not very good with is electrical. Never done it before, so I think it's going to be a challenge for me.
great video, you're possibly the only person that ever talked about the wattage of starlink, even on Facebook pages they talk about "its not bad" lol, as if there's a specific number for "it's not bad".
Take note that starlink was still on its early stage and the amount of satelite that have been launched was around 50+% , thats why its kinda normal to experience a sudden spike .
Starlink 2.0 will make the biggest difference, sadly we will have to wait for Starship to fly before these are in orbit as 2.0 is to wide for Falcon 9 fairing (current launch vehicle) The plan is to hit 50% of the Starlinks late 2024, so there is a ton more to be launches and will help with spikes. Currently there is around 2500 active sats with 400 000 subscribers around the world.
@@RippanYT what's StarLink 2.0? Laser satellites? We have those in Alaska's orbit right now, StarLink just became available here and I'm pretty sure we're the first users depending solely on laser satellites

Thanks for sharing this info! I'm thinking of doing bus or RV life in the next year or so as I'm an artist who does both freelance, and full time work for studios, and If I was to continue working, I need decent uploading capabilities as sometimes my files for clients can get quite large. +Plus I gotta get in my Mariokart and Splatoon fix while on the road lol.
Just found this channel and am stoked to see another full timer who's gaming on the road! I've been full time in an RV for a year and have been considering moving to starlink for a while but have some hesitations. Typically I am in cities for about a month or so and then out at national parks/off grid for a couple months then back to a city for a while. I was wondering how your experience has been anytime you are nearby cities? I have heard a lot of bad things about portability mode not performing well or having no connection when near cities because of lack of availability
Most important thing to remember... With RV version you can pause service while in the city and enable service in the wild. We use a combo of hotspot and Starlink. One service alone will not meet your requirements.
Thanks for the info! I'm surprised with the wattage draw on Starlink considering what it's doing. That's great. My Ultrawide 34" monitor only draws 24w and my gaming pc will draw up to 350w while gaming. My 2600w/1075Wh 'grid down' solar power system can manage that easily. I get frequent power outages where I live, sometimes lasting for over 24 hours, and I want to continue to work and game while keeping the essentials up and running.
Thank you for the content. Not going to lie, you have convinced me to finally do what I wanted to do ten years ago. Now, we have the knowledge and technology for me to be out on the road while still being able to work!
Apple goes proprietary for profit. Some companies use their own design to enforce reliability. Starlink products are quality products. If someone places some cheaply made part in the mix, Starlink would be blamed for the network issues. Keep it simple. Keep it Starlink. Interesting video watching you be you. Good job.
Congratulations on the success man! You’re channel is killing it! Well done. Hey, now that you’re using Starlink, are you using other options for cell coverage as well still?

You should bolt pipe mount on the roof that you don't need to put it on the roof with the stand, it's more easy and you can use stand on the ground only and you can also move your van without taking starlink out of the roof. That what I should do, just find same size pipe as the stand have.
I'm really spoiled by city life and having like, 2 Gbps fiber optic internet but... god damn 100 Mbps in the middle of nowhere is crazy good for the location. I genuinely would NOT mind those speeds at all if they were the trade-off for living in such beautiful, scenic locations on the daily.
if the wifi is slower, your PC adapter is crap. But what you should be thinking about more is that if you turn the wifi function off on the router and just use it with ethernet, you could save power and NOT advertise your vans not just a van in urban environments. Those two points I would think matter more as your phone can just run off Cel most of the time. You could also make your wifi invisible in the router settings. Your devices that are already connected will still find it but everyone else but wifi snoops will not see it. enjoy your content.
