Whilst watching your videos I couldn't believe what you tought would ever work out. It sounded so weird. Only hitting into a net but i have hit 1000s of balls into the net and nothing has ever felt like this. It kind of feels like a spring action and thats where the power comes from. Scotty, your grip facilitates a beautiful, nip-at-the-bottom contact for pitch shots around the green and has solved my maddening skull-chunk-putt cycle that used to ruin my score. I can't thank you enough for sharing your discovery. Also, I noticed that Fred Couples makes that same "A" at the top of his backswing that you suggest making.
I'm not sure if this grip works or not, but what I do know is that long winded, 20 minute dissertations will not convince anyone. You need to prioritize video of people hitting balls. Actual proof that this works for for multiple people. Proof it will work for the average Joe. That's when it may gain traction. Best of luck.
This is a free advice/ non tool bro. the proof is when you try it. by the way, give us a link to your version of any advice or lesson you have ever made so you can prove to us your idea. lol
Have you watched any of the other videos? Especially the Beginners Dream Lesson and the Dateline piece. I appreciate your comment and because it’s so different and new for everyone, I try to explain my discovery as thoroughly as I can. Don’t mean to go on, just trying to share my discovery as best I can. It’s hard to know what people want to see. I’m doing my best. Good luck.👍
You are doing it right. It is very interesting because it is so different and new. I started messing with it in my apartment. I’m getting a feel for it but I could not get the range you got yet. I do feel pressure in the skin fold as you call it. I can get the club head to facing the sky. Straight up. Keep it coming. I can see your passion for it.
Truth be told, I saw this grip over 20 years ago at a Golf Galaxy. The guy in the bay next to me was cranking out shot after shot, club after club, with this funky grip. I talked with him about it, he was from Ireland and grew up playing a game called Hurling, kind of like lacrosse, but no net on your stick, you just whack away at the ball.
Hi Scotty! Thanks for sharing your grip. I’m feeling the same pain in my upper left arm but it’s late in the day and tomorrow I hope to get outside and take some low slow swings and get acclimated. Not going to hit balls. Just going to do the drills you suggest. I’ll let you know how it goes.
I see how you can do this, but it will take time for most to get those muscles, fascia and tendons to adhere. It is such a severe rotation that it takes time and patience. You definitely cannot go out tomorrow and start hitting balls, I would think. It's one thing to change your swing or work on stuff, but this is asking the body to go against norms and what the brain knows.
I am a longtime expert golfer who is 64 years old. I have tried every configuration of using this grip (don't really need it in any sense, more out of just curiosity) but there is no way that I personally can perform a swing with any power from using this grip. I have never had the most flexible forearms or shoulders and there is a degree of lead forearm extension and lead internal shoulder rotation required that is completely impossible for me with any degree of comfort. Your longer hitting son's motion would literally dislocate my lead shoulder if I even tried it. No offense intended, but the claim that anyone can do this is preposterous. I do believe that it works for you guys and I can see why, in that one can clearly lose one's spine angle and raise one's hands more through impact than one can with a standard approach; things that are normally anathema in the golf swing but are common amongst poorer players. It would be interesting to see a selection of other players that have successfully used this system and additionally some that are being introduced to it and able to achieve success. That would be the minimum that I would think that would be required to provide the impetus for golfers to really begin taking this grip and approach seriously. Best of Luck. Cheers.
@@scottysgolfgrip I certainly will be willing to watch anything and if I can't do it, I might mention it to someone else that might possibly benefit from it. One thing that I noticed about one of the two "World's Worst Golfers" was that his impact improved after adopting your grip but he only appeared to manage a half backswing which would about be the case with me, if I tried it. For some people, that might still be much better than what they have. Cheers.
To hold the club with the left hand as you suggest, the hand must get "rolled over" at address to get it into the position, no? When you take the backswing, how can it be "rolled" even more than it was at address? In trying to mimic your backswing, my left hand has to almost come off the club. I think a "down the line" view of your backswing, or even showing the backswing motion with your left arm/hand (without a club) would be very enlightening, because you're obviously getting into a position that I am not currently able to duplicate.
Thanks Scotty I have been working on it for 3 days I have the grip right but can’t seem to get the wrist roll and get the club back as far as you. I’m keeping up with this I’m sure once I get it will improve my game! Maybe post how far you hit each of your clubs also and your swing speed using this method! Thanks!
Thank you for your comment. If you take your time you will see results. It all starts with your mindset , and it sounds like you are in the right place. I will be posting new content with everything you can imagine to help converts get it right. Try a lighter grip onto the club and imagine cracking a whip on the way down trough your swing.

Hi Scotty, interesting, i tried your grip last night . Haven't hit a ball yet. Felt really weird in the backswing but i put that down to it being completely different from a conventional grip. Im all for anything that might work ill give it a try and get back to you Thanks Peter UK
Scotty, would you talk about a realistic time frame need to develop the necessary flexibility required for older players to achieve reasonable results. I realize any change of the golf swing can cause pain for a while. Should we hit only half swings for a while? If so, how long would you suggest? Thanks!
Please watch the 'Never Before Seen' videos with Lessons One and Two. They should answer any questions you may have. And performing the low and slow cutting the grass exercise will get you acclimated more than any thing else. Some get it right away and others may take a week or more. Greatings from Finland, we still have about 20in of snow here, so we are waiting for the spring....you have some very interesting videos out there, Thanks. Hope getting out on the course about 🙂🙂1 of may, hopfully😂
I like new ideas but I tried my best to do the grip. It hurt to take the club back. Must be doing something wrong. Watched your grip closely. Not sure what I have to do.
You seem to be more flexible in your left arm and wrist than most. My left arm is not designed to straighten like yours and my wrist roll makes my elbow point outward--bending even more. I do feel wrist discomfort during and afterwards. Seems counter to the way the body is designed to hinge. Watched your on-course videos, so happy this techniques works for you. At this point, it's not for me. Actually hit the ball better with my own swing after trying yours. I guess that's a good thing. I do think that your technique may be used for abbreviated swings like punch shots. Something requiring less of a full back swing. Cheers.
I cant say this strong enough, Its gonna hurt both your game and body, with this insane grip.... Do you fight slices or hooks. It can easely be corrected, with a lesson or two, at your local PRO!
Hey I am trying your grip. I am in consistant 15 handicap player. I hit pretty good shots around 70% of the time. I started trying your grip. I feel in my practice swing that it creates more power. But when it comes to hitting the ball. I just can't hit it from the centre of the club, I also hit it fat. or I get my hands so far ahead of the club at impact I delofted the club making the driver roll the ball like a topped shot.
I have the grip on the club as you show iin the videos. The problem I am having is that my left hand in the position you show causes my wrist to be locked so that I am honestly not able to take a backswing of more than one or one and a half feet before my wrist is painful, my left shoulder feels like it is going to dislocate, and even my body won't turn to make the backswing. I have watched many of your videos and honestly I have no clue how you can take a full backswing and then still be able to hit the ball. I have no clue what I am doing wrong, if anything, so I need personal instruction from you, or someone you know, that would know what I am doing wrong, if anything, or if this grip just isn't going to work for me. Please help if you can.
@@scottysgolfgrip Here is the problem. Watching Zoom, whether live or watching a video, it is the same as watching your videos on UA-cam. If I am not getting the concept now after more than two weeks trying, then watching on Zoom would be the same as watching your videos on UA-cam. I need in-person instruction because, honestly, nothing I have tried from watching your videos is working for me. I figure if I can get in-person instruction on how to properly use this grip and then it still doesn't work then I will forget about it and use my normal grip. So if you have anyone you have taught who lives near Atlanta, Georgia, please put them in contact with me. Thanks.
I played with Scotty yesterday. In response to the people doubting his ability tp play with his unique grip , I'm here to tell you he still dives the ball 300 yards or more. I've been playing fairly regularly with Scotty for about 15 years and I can attest to the fact that I've personally seen him drive the ball 400 yards. Adimitedly this was when he has younger. I've also seen his sons and other golfers using the grip to drive the ball incredible distances. If you're able to make the grip work for you, it really works well.
I appreciate your validation of Scotty’s grip. I’m a big believer in innovation. Just because this grip may not be for everyone, doesn’t mean it couldn’t be great for a lot of people. Sometimes the greatest innovations happen without any forethought! Wish I could ride along with you two ….
If I understand it correctly. Your dominant arm can’t stay straight as the traditional method. I tried it at my home net and not sure where the ball went. Need to try at range 😊
Since he will not address my issues and problems with the grip and offer me personal training on how to execute a swing with this grip then I will just move on. When I cannot get the club more than one to one-and-a-half feet into the backswing before my left shoulder is in pain and my wrist feels like it will break then forget it. People tend to want to talk about how successful you can be with this grip but they are not willing to personally help you.
Sorry you feel that way. I’ve been extremely busy and haven’t had time to respond to every comment. When someone says they cannot get the club back and are in pain it can be a variety of misconceived instruction. One. you could be gripping the club way too hard. Two, your gripping it with a 90° angle approach onto the handle, not a 45°. Three, you’re not applying the wrist roll effectively. Four, you could be keeping your left elbow and arm straight at address. Your left arm and elbow should be in a comfortable position, not rigid. I believe you should review the four possible issues and see if that solves the majority of what’s going on in your swing. Again, sorry for not responding immediately. I am here and do care about everyone.
Hey there! Just wanted to add some suggestions that might help! I'm a 62 year old golfer that took up golf about 5 years ago I have tried every UA-cam instructor's methods with little success after giving them more than ample time to click. I should preface this by saying I am a left leg amputee so I do have some issues with balance with that said I just couldn't seem to get any distance no matter what I tried with a conventional grip. So I stumbled across Scotty's grip and was willing to give it a go but much like yourself I was having difficulty getting the club back so I started fiddling around with it and one thing that helped immediately was allowing my lead knee to bend while taking it back and that seemed to unlock my arms and staying as tension free as possible helps significantly. I focus on pulling the club back with my trail arm and just letting the lead wrist/arm roll back naturally as possible! I have had some impressive results with this grip although I still struggle with consistency at times but, like any swing/grip it takes time to work out the bugs! There's no doubt if you can overcome the awkwardness of the grip you will hit some rather impressive shots! Doing the drills Scotty suggest are very helpful as well. Best of luck
I am sorry but I am going to just say it. I think your videos can be much better if you cut down on all the extremely long-winded uneccessary repetitious and off-the-point discussions. Regarding the technique, it should be easy enough to explain in 30 seconds max. As for myself, the grip is not the problem. I can do the grip just fine. It's the backswing which is the problem and the downswing (which you seem to spend little time showing slowly and clearly). I think my left arm is maybe not able to roll the wrist far enough towards me. I don't consider myself disabled in any way though. I don't come even close to parallel, or even club vertical, without pain or letting go with my fingers. In addition there is tension in my left elbow which is very close to pain. I can see that you somehow seem to hit the ball very well, but all in all, yes, you can put me squarely in the camp of the doubters.
Absolutely nothing unless you want a private lesson. Check out the two videos titled ‘Never Before Seen Golf Grip’ / Lesson One and Lesson Two and watch them all the way through.
@@MichaelYarussi Check out the beginner golfer dream lesson video It’s not just me then check out my sons on other videos while we’re playing golf on and on.
@@scottysgolfgrip I wish you would take a video of only your hands in slow motion from setup to the top of your back swing. My club just points straight up in the air, I just don't understand how you are getting parallel.
You skipped the detail of moving to position needed to make the move. That's why it is not consistent. If you do a tip about detail, you need to pay attention to detail
As a 73 year old who began playing at age 45 I find it difficult to believe you were such a hack slicing it and averaging 160 yard drives? I average 200 yard drives and hit a draw. I heard you saying you played on executive 9 hole courses mostly until you started playing for business and were playing over 7,000 yard courses. No sensible golfer would play 7,000 yard courses who average 160 yards! I play 6,000 yard courses and have broken 80 many times. Having said that, I watched all your videos and tried this grip. I can't get the shaft past 90 degrees at the top. Would have to break my wrist or let go to get the club past my head. It's not physically possible. You must have unusual wrist joints. I predict that most players would develop soreness in their wrists and forearms and elbows. If you want to change my mind and other's go out on a range with credible experts (Mike Malaska, Be Better Golf, Sasho McKenzie, Eric Cogorno, Mark Immelman, etc) and prove what you are saying. Validate your accuracy and distances.
I'm releasing a video tomorrow at 11 am with portions of a Dateline Show who challenged my technique with the ultimate task... to improve the two worst golfers in America. Please watch what I did with these guys. I appreciate your opinion and will be posting more and more content with proof of my techniques validity. By the way everything I say about my past and what happened to me is the absolute truth.
What BS! Why doesn't he ever hit a ball and actually show us? What other golf video have you watched where the instructor did not show you the lesson w/o hitting a ball. NEVER, RIGHT!
Your hands/wrists can flex, extend, supinate, pronate, ulnar & radial deviate. I don't see how most of us can swing this way & generate speed & leverage not to mention sustain a wrist injury. Scotty is truly an anomaly
Next week I am dropping a video of me giving a beginner golfer a private lesson. Please watch and see what happens to this young man, it's not just me. By the way I have seen thousands of golfers adapt with extreme success.

I thought of one more… You could be gripping it in your palm and not your fingers.
For the life of me I can't get the club to the top without pain or without the club slipping
So with the wrist roll on the back swing it looks like that lead palm is facing the sky?
yes
@@scottysgolfgrip do any zoom lessons?
Totally agree , it is not natural at all. Not one professional on any tour , man or women would bother with such a weird anatomy of hand position .
This is giving mgs swing a run for its money. Even Jim Ventos swing seems more reasonable than this. Ill still be satisfying my need to try it though.
Does your left thumb cover part of the end of the club or can you see all the club end? Thanks!
Yes the left hand covers a portion of the club.
My left hand doesn't flex that much to make a full swing
How much does this miracle cost?
Absolutely nothing unless you want a private lesson. Check out the two videos titled ‘Never Before Seen Golf Grip’ / Lesson One and Lesson Two and watch them all the way through.
You got to be kidding!
You have to be double jointed in your lead hand
@@MichaelYarussi Check out the beginner golfer dream lesson video It’s not just me then check out my sons on other videos while we’re playing golf on and on.
@@scottysgolfgrip I wish you would take a video of only your hands in slow motion from setup to the top of your back swing. My club just points straight up in the air, I just don't understand how you are getting parallel.
You’ve got many negative comments. I want to see a trackman or video analysis of your swing.
Too much TALK. Show us the proof.
Start with all of the golf shots in the other videos. I'll soon be dropping new content using a launch monitor.
Straight left arm not of any concern?
The left arm is relatively straight, but not to the point of making it ridged. Get comfortable.
This is crazy
Crazy Good. Check out tomorrow’s drop video entitled. Beginner Golfers Dream Lesson
You skipped the detail of moving to position needed to make the move. That's why it is not consistent. If you do a tip about detail, you need to pay attention to detail
I was curuious, u tried for fun, but this is gonna cause injury for a lot of people even if it works
watch Moe Norman videos. Much easier, simpler and you wont damage your wrists.
Why do you believe this technique is superior to others?
SW in a bunker, let's see it?
From my naked eye looks like ee but if it works it works i guess
I would like you ti do it with be better golf instead of the worst players
This has to be a piss take for sure.
What's your problem Jeff! A man who is passionate about something and is willing to share it for free. Get a life!
Blah blah blah
This dude has waaaay too much time on his hands. Take up pickleball!
What BS! Why doesn't he ever hit a ball and actually show us? What other golf video have you watched where the instructor did not show you the lesson w/o hitting a ball. NEVER, RIGHT!
Please watch the rest of the videos. You might see a few golf shots.
@scottysgolfgrip I was very open & excited to try but don't feel I can do it anatomically. Lord knows I was trying after watching some of your videos repeatedly and practicing your method😮
